This entire goal is a farce. DSP made a goal to wear a fucking costume for the low low cost of $1250... remember that $30 costume from last year? Expect the same. Then when patrons back down because they have the ability to think he threatens the event in general so he can make more muns.

This is con artist level shit. He wants to make more off the generous nature of his fans because they are willing to sacrifice more to keep their entertainment alive.

Just cut him off. He is cancer. He will bleed you for every dollar and jerk you off until you're dry and then abandon you when you can't give you anymore. You are his wallet slut. He wants to fuck your account to death.

He is in full damage control now. Text walls and reality-bending explanations to why 902 dollars equal 1125 dollars (which also equal 1250 dollars in his mind) and therefore the goal is already hit. He simply cannot afford to not do the Halloween Marathon. It's also nice to call people idiots when they point out the obvious, that he bait&switched people into pledging.

But okay, I guess his target audience loves Halloween so much because they can dress up and go for trick & treat so they don't want him to fail the goal.

Providing that he makes it that long (maybe Twitch pulls the plug or YT blacklists his flagship channel) he will repeat the same method when it's about the Christmas Holiday streaming. He will threaten not to make one unless he gets his 1125 dollars, but when the month is over he will say "they" hit the goal no matter the numbers.

It's a bizarre tactic, but it seems to work on his fanbase to some extent considering that they're still pledging to him. He'll do the special streams because they bring in more viewers and $$$, but that won't stop him from begging as much as he can before either finding some way to rationalize it or just blatantly lying to his viewers's faces. Do his supporters not listen to a word he says? I wouldn't blame them.

He's inadvertently using cult tactics, keep everyone on edge, tell them the end will come at any moment, just give more and we'll get through this crisis and before you can stop to think about how little sense that made BOOM! another crisis!

Yeah it's not like just he can't pay his bills for one month or another he's gonna IMMEDIATELY lose his house or IMMEDIATELY file bancruptcy.

It's not like he has those 300-400$ paintings he can sell or a brand new car he just bought or his dignity that he can still sell by going on those webcam porn sites for his "Bathroom breaks" and earn money with masturbating.

Phil's Patreon accounting seems strange because he is using the "charge up front" option. New patrons are charged immediately (well, actually within 72 hours) when they make or raise a pledge during that first month. If they don't delete the pledge by the end of the month they are charged again. So whoever made that $50 pledge and then deleted it did it to add $50 to the coffers without being charged $50 again at month's end.

So Phil is actually right for once--he will receive fifty dollars more than the amount reflected on his Patreon page. How 900+ 50 = 1125 = 1250 is beyond me though. The bottom line is this hidden extra money combined with the lost money due to charges being denied allows Phil to claim that he did or didn't make his goal as he sees fit--no matter what his Patreon page says.

Phil, you're doing Patreon wrong. It's not PayPal. It's not KickStarter. You're a buffoon.

Nah just that he's keeping his "fans" in a constant state of alert, which is a form of manipulation that cults use. It's good for controlling groups of people. I doubt he's even thinking that he's doing it, he just sort of realized it worked.
