He treats it like a business transaction, which technically it is, but no other streamer is so straight and cold about it. You give him x dollars and you get your message on the screen and read by Phil, it means nothing and he owes you nothing after the transaction has been concluded. Some streamers like their fans and actually want to answer their questions or read their comments and even their complaints. Phil wants money and he will offer the bare minimum required to get some from his viewers.

I honestly believe he only watches his muxy or streamlabs or whatever notification system he uses. That is the only "chat" that he sees, and thus the only "interaction" he sees. Only when he gets a message from a mod that there are trolls does he switch over to his view that actually displays chat.

Every other streamer I watch, from the streamers with thousands of viewers in their chats, to the tiny streamers with maybe 10 viewers, they all interact with what is happening in the chat. of course they thank the tippers and the cheerers and the subs, but they also say something to those not tipping subbing or cheering. Because to those streamers, the person who isnt giving money today, can potentially give money tomorrow. And even if they dont have the means to give ever, it shows that the streamer actually gives a damn about their audience thus encouraging others to join the chat, and to tip or to sub or to cheer. Personally if I'm not subbed to a channel, but I've watched the channel and enjoyed their chat and enjoyed the streamer, I'll toss them a small tip or toss some bits their way as a sign of my appreciation for the hour's entertainment.

But to Phil, the monetary transactions are the "interactions" for him. Pay him to answer a question, pay for senpai to notice you, pay to troll, pay pay pay. Never once have I heard him say "thanks bob in the chat who didnt tip me, i appreciate you coming out". Other streamers in his viewer range actually say "hey regular viewer, how are you doing today" or "have a great night regular viewer" And their chats are positive and vibrant. Phil's chat is full of either trolls or sycophants. And when the trolls have been banned, again, all there is left is the sycophants saying how wonderful Phil is, and how the trolls are so evil. And then the chat is DEAD. Noone talking amongst each other, noone commenting on the game, its nothing.

Battlegrounds is one of the biggest recent games especially for streamers. How can someone who's worked in gaming for 10 years be so clueless? it's like when a game is new and popular he has to be edgy and shit on it.
I have just a gut feeling that maybe, just maybe, there's some streamers/youtubers who don't want to play latest fad/meme games (It's kinda early to say if Battlegrounds is just a fad or will it be lasting, these games can just come and go), but they pretty much have to play them to stay relevant. While I disagree with Phil's reasoning, I can see where he's coming from with his argument.

Don't wanna watch his WiPshit? Okay:

Monday: Mario + Rabbids / Yakuza Kiwami
Tuesday: Knack 2 / Mario + Rabbids OR Yakuza Kiwami
Wednesday: Destiny 2 (Co-Op) / Knack 2
Thursday: Destiny 2 (Co-Op) / Knack 2 OR Destiny 2 (Solo) OR Mario + Rabbids
Friday: Destiny 2 (Co-Op) / Knack 2 OR Destiny 2 (Solo) OR Mario + Rabbids

September's Patreon goal may be the Halloween goal again.
Phil plans to take a few days of vacation at the beginning of October.
Yakuza Kiwami has been relegated to the backburner.
Patron's Choice will begin closer to the end of the month.
USF2 Sundays will resume if Phil has free time.
Phil hopes that Twitch revenue will continue to increase.

Not sure if anyone saw this but DSP fans have been combing through the Fred Fuchs/SoK leaks and Phil decided to respond and I hate to say it but DSP sounds fucking reasonable for once.
Nobody cares. Keep it in the other thread.

A broken clock is right twice a day

I was literally about to post the same thing, dude. That said, it's really bizarre and say's a lot when Fred Fuchs is giving Phil $20 a month. Phil doesn't lock any exclusive content on Patreon and the only thing you get for $20 is your get answered on Ask the King. Maybe Fred thinks he can set Phil up and mock him for it? If so, it's pretty pointless because Phil does a good job of that on his own.

I find it very hypocritical of him with this latest SoK rant of his. He says ad nauseum on his streams how he doesnt pay attention to "detractors" and he doesnt participate in drama. But he plays the drama game almost as well as Keemstar. Ok maybe not that much, but he plays the drama game as well as a 15 year old cheerleader. "Oh I dont do drama, did you hear that suzie and brian broke up over a note?"

DSP is completely disconnected from gaming in any way that doesn't directly involve his "business" making money. For him games are like raw silicone for a guy who owns a discount sex toy factory. Games are just raw material to turn into streams and videos that--like sex toy man's cheap dildos and butt plugs--he has no passion for, and gains no enjoyment from producing.

The way he's acting with PUBG is exactly the way he was with Undertale: called it a twitch fad that only got noticed because of a few popular streamers and wasn't actually a good game, just a product of hype. Of course he changed his tone when he realized just how much he could get by piggy-backing off the game and SHAME ON YOU if you pointed out the hypocrisy to him.
We'll see him play PUBG by the end of the year.

Not much proof but Fred has previously stated that he did pledge to Phil on patreon for the first few months at $1 but then pulled it, the other pledgee known as fred fuchs not being him.
I'm inclined to believe this because of how hesitant he acts whenever someone talks about giving dsp troll cheers, doesn't seem like he'd blow 20 a month on Phil just for a bait and switch.

So how soon until DSP takes a side job? What would he do? Would he try to work in his old field of finance or would he try something else? His patreon is reaching the 700's pretty fast. I think it's 855 now.

Also, what will be the next chapter in DSPs lolcow career? A new girlfriend? Getting banned on Twitch? Starting an actual brick and mortar business? Will we finally see that authentic Italian gamer restaurant that Phil promised?

I swear that he's put the same games on his Patreon polls for months now. I'm so sick of Jak 3 and he's never even played it!

Let's see how he rigs the poll this time to get the game that he wants to play. Two Spyro games, A Crack In Time and Jak 3 just to make sure to fuck up some classic Playstation game franchises (in Ratchet/Jak case: AGAIN).
I'm pretty sure he'll rig the poll this time. The last couple of times he didn't, he ended up with the Danganronpa games and bitched several times about them.

The "XYZ game is only flavor of the month" argument is old and tired.
No shit games are flavor of the month, do you see people still playing Pong regularly? Of course games like DayZ were flavor of the month once, so was Street Fighter 2 at one stage.

Doesn't SF2 have a "rabid fandom" consisting of gout-ridden manchildren who complain about the competitiveness of characters being in tournaments for a game that is 25 years old

Just another example of Phil refusing to adapt to change when his "job" requires it. The idiot would actually do good to ride a bandwagon or two, he'd actually generate interest and people might actually want to watch his streams. Instead he plays the same tired old games and mostly singleplayer because he can't deal with anything that is outside of his control (basically anything multiplayer).

I'd actually watch Phil playing a multiplayer game with voice enabled. It'd be interesting. Much more interesting than a manbaby playing single player games or multiplayer with all the multiplayer elements cut out of it (sorry, if you play without voice/chat then it isn't multiplayer). Even his coop playthrough of Destiny with "co-op" will not really be "co-op" because he will of course have all voice disabled. It'll be like watching AI players.

People have already seen him masturbate on stream. What exactly is he concerned about when it comes to multiplayer games that might be interesting?
