My theory (nothing new, more eloquent people have said it in this thread) is that Russ doesn't want to woo women. He wants to control them. He doesn't love them, he just wants to own them. I don't think he sees them as human, or even capable of abstract thought.

There are distinct similarities between Russ and the people who frequent r/incels. The biggest differences are that Russ' desire to subjugate women outweighs his absolute hatred for them, and even fucking incels have enough social awareness not to brag about being wholly unfuckable where all their friends and family can see.
