Just checking his pre-stream from Labor Day and it made me wonder, what is he going to do on Christmas now that he has no one to celebrate it with?
Either he will stream and bitch about how he dont get any time off like everyone else or he is going to eat Happy Meals and watch old kids movies...

I wonder if we will get the yearly boring blog of decorating the house and tree for Christmas this year? Without Leanna he will be clueless on what goes where, how to string garland, etc. From that we can expect an "I am so busy I do not have time to put up decorations"

I can picture DSP's Christmas Tree this year decorated with fast food wrappers, overcooked Penne, V8 energy cans, pizza rolls, and empty boxes of Mucinex.

“…people can’t wait for Fall when the air is cooler.” Makes him come off as someone who really doesn’t enjoy doing anything outside his four walls. I really wish he would stop making his personal opinions sound like sweeping statements.

This is one of the verbal tics /unconscious psychological things I've noticed Phil do. He makes blanket statements about how everybody feels, when it's only how he feels. "Nobody liked that..." "Everybody said it was a bad idea..." "People wanted to see this..." Most of the time his observation doesn't match the real majority opinion about the subject, and as an anti-social hermit Phil is hardly in the best position to have learned the majority opinion.

It's one of my favourites of Phil's verbal manpulation tics, right next to: "We didn't make the goal this month. It's not looking good for us."

He worked at Wells Fargo Finance giving loans to people. He specifically pointed out how they gave huge loans, on terrible rates to people in dire straits.

A person I know worked at a bank in the credit card department, and after his first day at work all he said was "I'm never, ever getting a credit card in my life"

How did a guy who worked at a bank end up in so much debt?

I gave my theory a few days ago that Phil's finance degree - and his work experience for a shady loans company - is what gives him the confidence to get into serious debt. He thinks it gives him a full understanding of how it works. It arms him with the confidence to play a scary game of credit card debt himself.

Also in that video he says: "I'm just about to get into serious credit card debt again because I'm moving." So he knew damn well that the move to Washington state was going to put him into debt that he wouldn't be able to pay off for years. He was okay with it. He planned it that way.

"I am so busy I do not have time to put up decorations"

I'm almost certain it'll be said as we get closer.

I know it's conspiracy-theory-level, but I really believe he acquired debt he knew he couldn't afford by claiming income he knew would decrease. I think the whole move was "I'll never have a chance to move to WA if I wait, because I'm never going to have this level of income again."

DSP is a lot of things, one of the best is "not how to live financially". He makes like 5k-10k (maybe less now because of youtube) and cries poor every month. If you can't make 5k+ work every month while living alone on a mortgage you got issues. Think about it, he gets a free 1200 dollars every month, he's basically living like a trust fund kid but spending it all. He's gotten the patreon money every month since January 2015. That is like 32 months times 1200 = 38k which he could put into a savings or invest into the stock market. Like this man is incredibly stupid and been blessed more than a lot of people. Every instagram post he should be putting hashtag blessed.

RE: christmas. When Phil is too lazy (or aware of his limitations) to get involved in something, he then insults anybody else who got involved. "PAX is a giant waste of time..." "Nobody cares about ComicCon..." etc. He's partly jealous that other Twitch stream coverage is taking attention away from him, and he's partly justifying his lack of involvement.

This December I'm expecting: "Nobody cares about celebrating Christmas any more. Christmas is for idiots."

I agree with your assessment here. He knew before moving to WA that his contract was going to be altered for the negative so to your point it was now or never. I do find it funny that he moved to WA to save money on income taxes but he charged a ton of money that he is probably paying 20% or more interest every month. Whatever "savings" he is getting by being there is erased when you look at his debt.

Also by still owning that drug den looking condo in ST, he is still having to pay property taxes.

Do you think there is any chance that could have written the relocation off on his taxes? I see YouTuber's often move to LA for more collaboration chances, exposure, etc. so I can see a legit business case for these specific YouTuber's.

But Phil on the other hand tried to claim the move was for his "business" but we know that he is full of shit.

Gotta live dat DSP "lifestyle"

BTW howw did a guy who worked at a bank end up in so much debt?

The same way how fat and obese people work at a healthcare company.

My theory is that he just doesn't understand technology. He probably grew up in a world where his parents/family/friends had steady income from "lifer" jobs and tried to apply the same concepts to his income.

He doesn't know how to set up capture cards, use software, build a computer, edit videos, use proper passwords, manage his internet connection(s) properly, use a VPN, use a mail service besides fucking Yahoo, order groceries online or pretty much anything. He can't even manage to play or stream PC games properly (!).

He can't even set up his microphone properly, he can't figure out how to use discord, he can't use chat properly.

So it is perhaps more realistic that however intelligent Phil may actually be, it is definitely not in the world of computers or technology.

This would explain his naive attitude when it comes to YouTube-bucks and his failure to adapt to the changing nature of YouTube in any capacity.
YouTube was actually second-wave when it came to changes in advertising revenue. The wave before YouTube was people's websites that relied on Google's search algorithm and/or revenue generated from ad views due to their search rank/popularity.

If Phil was at all tied into any of these concepts, then he would've been able to adapt far more effectively. He obviously doesn't posses any intrinsic understanding or appreciation of the inner workings of online-based advertising.

What Phil calls "street/book smarts" I prefer to call "being astute". It defines the ability to pick up something and learn it rapidly, without having to refer to basic instructions.

Some people just aren't astute by nature. I would say Phil is one of those people. He might do great in some other environment, but being that he relies on the internet, it is not the arena for him.

If he was actually astute, he would have all those skills I mentioned above as well as perhaps areas like webdesign, SEO, programming and video editing. He'd be able to get a job with those, even if it was a junior position.

Not everyone is destined to be a rocket scientist. He'd probably do well for himself if he moved off the internet entirely and got a job in another industry.

If he had used "mah 8 year legacy" to learn some or all of those skills he'd probably be employable.

Then again he's 10-15 minutes late to his set-your-own-schedule job every day and spends the first 15-45 minutes of every shift bitching and overstating so maybe not.

Imagine Phil in a real job, bitching for 15 to 45 minutes every day to the customers before starting to work.

According to Phil, investing in the stock market or mutual fund is a "terrible idea" and is simply gambling for people who have extra money that they can afford to lose. As evidence he cites the fact his retirement plan had dropped before he got laid off. Seeing as the worst decade for stocks in US history was 1999 to 2008 (https://www.fool.com/investing/2016/11/26/can-stocks-lose-over-a-10-year-holding-period.aspx), that is hardly surprising. I don't have a finance degree though, so I'll have to trust that crippling debt and no long term plan for the future are a sound strategy.

Also in this video he says he thinks Twitch is the way to make a good living going forward. No gamble there.

The thing that drives me crazy with Phil and technology is that he is too lazy to learn. I am a year older than him and I do not have the level of knowledge that the Millenials and the next generation have with computers. But I have the capacity to research, learn, and figure it out.

He can't just use this as a lazy crutch and expect his supporters to do everything for him. For example, the recent issue with the Switch and his TV going haywire. If he had just saw down in front of his lemon PC and did some research on a search engine, he would have found out (in less than 5 minutes) that it was a bug with the Switch and he needed to update the firmware.

Instead he plays around with it his Dusty setup for 30+ minutes like an Ape with a rubix cube and then bitching about it during the pre-stream for 10 minutes until someone told him what to do.
