Neo Yokio - the Netflix Anime Created by Jaden Smith - Yes, This is Somehow an Actual Thing

So Berserk, a series which has been around since fucking 1989 can't get a series whose production is worth half a shit, and yet this shit gets made with what seems at least to be a halfway decent production company (Not saying it's looks like the most amazing thing ever, but at least it looks better than Babby's First CGI like Berserk has received).

Ahhhhh well... at least we got Ajin and Castlevania...

Because it's Will Smith and, more accurately, his son we're talking about. They've still got some money to throw around. Though it amazes me they'd try another vanity project after After Earth bombed big time.

Besides, Berserk 2016/17 was a shitstorm behind the scenes, it was never going to look good even with any extra time or money thrown at it.

Looks really bad compared to other similar netflix toons like Castlevania and Voltron. I think the biggest eyesore is the shading and coloring, which even manages to make the otherwise passable special effects look out of-place and jarring. Art style is pretty bland too, reminds me of those How To Manga books done by Western artists who were trying to capitalize on the earhly '90s\late 2000s Anime boom but didn't quite get how to replicate the style. You know the ones!

actually. at least neo yokio has slightly better animation but honestly it could have been better.
 
The setting is probably supposed to be a futuristic combo of NYC and Tokyo, hence the name. That being said, the trailer tells you next to nothing about the plot, and I never want to hear the word "fuckboy" in an anime again.

If this show becomes a hit, I hope the robobutler becomes the most popular character and tumblr losers call the fandom racist.

I think Neo Yokio is a reference to Neo Tokyo from AKIRA

The main reason the animation is mediocre is because it's made by Studio Deen. Studio Deen shows usually have mediocre and shoddy animation.

Meanwhile, the nicer anime like western shows on Netflix - Voltron and Castlevania - are made by much more professional/passionate studios - Studio Mir (Creators of ATLA and TLK) and Powerhouse Animation/Fredarator Studios respectively.

TL;Dr: Ezra and Jaden couldn't afford a nice animation studio and settled for a mediocre one.
