Let's Players originating from Something Awful - ft. VoidBurger, General Ironicus, Bob Kamoc

This has likely already been addressed, but just in case....
WHAT THE FUCK, YOU TWO?

This is the same woman who fucked five devs in order to have them lie to all of us about her godawful text adventure. You really want to associate with someone that has zero qualms with lying to you?

Calm the fuck down. SJWs associating with SJWs isn't new or shocking.

I've been saying Chip is firmly in the extremist SJW camp regardless of Voidburger for a while now and people kept going "No man he's clearly a lot more normal cause he keeps it out of videos".
He might not have any lolcow behavior but it's not surprising at all that he'd openly befriend these psychos.
But Ironicus? Mr. "Boycott 5th edition", upper class white Chicagoan himself? Not a surprise at all.

The Let's Play clique clearly demands affiliation to the Quinn party.

I blame Geop.
Tell me more because man is he an unfunny piece of shit.

Caps do not necessarily equate to a lack of calm. But for fuck sake, how can these people be so dense? They are reasonably functional human beings, aren't they?..... I suppose anything's possible.
You new here or something? If you become "one of them" you know "all of them" and can never leave. It's not a hugbox, it's a cell. A cell in hell.

Right now, it's only a joke out of blaming the current LP mod for it since when slowbeef was mod this wasn't happening.

At the same time, just because I'm joking doesn't mean there can't be a kernel of truth going on. Someone should investigate that. Someone better than me.

I don't think anyone is saying Chip isn't in the SJW camp. I mean, Chip himself has even said he shares the views of his friends. Him not getting political or the like in his videos is just an example of what makes his stuff watchable. I do think the fact that he is able to keep it out of his videos makes him a little more "normal" than someone that consistently has to sperg out about dumbass things like someone criticizing a microphone or how cats are portrayed in video games versus dogs. But it doesn't change the fact that he's still drinking the SJW koolaid.

Chip keeping it out of his content is a big difference though. It proves he does not believe that his politics must replace all other topics and ideas at all times. At the risk of speculation, it implies he may be able to coexist with people who don't always agree with him.

I talk to people who have political beliefs I find silly all the time, but I can also have a beer with them and get along with them about other stuff even after we have a heated debate. I could probably have a beer with chip and convince him I'm not an awful person, and I'd give it a try with ironicus too. Jesus, anyone who thinks "he drinks the koolaid" is the only defining thing about anyone whose politics you don't like, well gee golly what does that attitude sound like?

I pretty much work on the assumption nowadays that any big-name YouTuber whose main subject isn't right-wing politics of some kind is going to have SJW-type views in private, but I don't care that much as long as they keep them out of the videos.

The more professional ones do, but it's often a different story on Twitter. There are several people who I stopped following on Twitter because I liked their videos but couldn't take their virtue signalling.

I bet there's more than a few creator who don't talk politics but still pepper the spectrum in a wide way.

Twitter seems to have been designed for the sole purpose of impotent signaling though.

So, speaking of Chip, I've been listening to the extra life stream that Chip and co. did a few weeks back. For those unaware, it's all animal based games. It was also just 24 hours and given that it was work background noise, I didn't think to timestamp anything. There's also long stretches of nothing overly entertaining happening cow wise, but there were a couple of gems:

VB doing her best not to full on sperg out about basically any game where you play as a dog and the cats are villains. There was one game early on, I believe dog's life, which was particularly entertaining. She even had a "cats are always portrayed as villains" mini rant similar to her former spergouts on the subject. She also made a ton of passive aggressive jabs at people who liked dogs. What really made it funny was the fact that Ironicus's wife is apparently unaware of how oppressed cats are in popular media and is very open about being a fan of those awful fascist dogs. She and Ironicus apparently got a dog recently, so they were both basically talking about how great dogs are while VB sulked and made passive aggressive remarks.

Either Ironicus or VB brought up the microphone incident again. It was a brief little jab that didn't get followed up on, I think it was basically "this is pointless, like complaining about Yeti" or whatever.

Much later in the stream, a tired VB went on a weird "joking" tirade about a game mansplaining the tutorial. It was definitely an exaggeration, but the overall undertones were video games are sexist.

Ironicus and VB had a mini Notch rant, but they reigned it in before it developed into a full on conversation. Ironicus also had a few jabs at Trump, but again, he reigned himself in.

I still have several more hours to burn through, but VB getting pissy about cats was definitely the highlight as far as cowish material goes. Overall, they were all pretty chill, at least as long as they were playing a game that didn't feature cats as a villain. It definitely felt like they were on their best behavior given that it was a charity stream.

Imagine a human being who's such an idle, spoiled loser they're unable to help mashing their disproportionately angry opinions on dumb shit like household pets into any conversation people are willing to have with them. It's like Voidburger models her personality after unfunny sitcom characters.

Chip is just a very weak character, that's really his biggest flaw. He'll be a yes man so as not to scare the horses, and that's why he finds it easy to create content that caters to people that just want to watch a videogame and not be fed an agenda. It's ironically very beneficial to him that he has no strong beliefs of his own, in that regard.

Ironicus, on the other hand, ought to know better yet clearly doesn't. Best I can come up with on that front is :autism:, but that seems a bit to convenient.

In their defense, a 24-hour stream is pretty much impossible to do without saying something embarrassing/stupid/controversial/etc unless you're the most boring milquetoast person on the planet.

That's a lot of air to have to fill. Your personal opinions are bound to come out at some point. I don't really have an issue with that (but it's also why I don't watch streamers). It's when you're doing a curated edited game-focused video where you need to keep that shit out of it.

I completely agree, that's why I tried to emphasize that they were very quick about reigning in any of the more serious discussions, like the Trump and Notch comments. That's actually what made VB's cat comments so funny, since it was a subject that nobody felt is worth reigning in, but if you know about her past history sperging out about how unfairly cats are treated in videogames and how she believes dogs are overpraised and what not you realize how bitter her comments actually are. I think everyone else was just treating it as a quirky joke, or they completely missed it because they were just talking about how much they loved dogs.

I think it is actually easier to fill the air when you're playing low quality games like that. They seemed pretty selective about picking ones that veered more into "so bad it's good" as opposed to games that are bad because they're boring. They also seemed to space out the time so the more boring games got smaller blocks.

Ah, is that the infamous Gextralife? I figured 24 hours worth of Gex games would be impossible or maddening. Last year Chip dumped all 24 hours of separate stream archives on Youtube and people got pretty pissed at their subscription box suddenly being full of trash.
It is the most boring shit imaginable, barely any of the chemistry that made the guys funny. At least it's for charity (I think it is, I wouldn't be surprised if it's for something fucked up).

All the extra Life streams are for childrens hospitals with chips being for Hurley Children's Hospital in Flint, Michigan. They raised $32,000 which means they have raised the second most, and this year they just streamed animal themed games including one gex game at the end. They had 30 games so there wasnt really any good reason to have any downtime in conversation when they were playing each game less than an hour. They got roughly 760 donations averaging at about $42 i skimmed a couple of pages to see if there were any huge donation but i couldnt see any and that did seem to be about the average.

Someone should edit a video with voidburgers cat rant if for no other reason than it would annoy her.

I watched last year's gextralife stream and thought it was amazing that they raised like ten times the goal they had set and I think it's amazing that they beat the goal this time, and all for a great cause.

That said, I kind of want to bombard Voidburger's twitter with pictures of dogs just like I want to bombard Boogie's twitter with pictures of cheeseburgers and ice cream.
