It doesn't surprise me. He's stated before that he's never liked the book and the way he talks about it makes it sound like he completely fails to understand the novel's central themes that were present in the movie. I don't know what it is exactly about Stephen King that triggers his need to blow shit everywhere but whatever. It would have been expecting too much out of him to go and see it with an open mind.

I wonder if there even is one single King based movie or bookthis guy likes.
Heck, does he even know on what the Shawshank Redemption is based on? Cause I don't know what Doug Walker is, but he certainly is not a critic in the analytical sense

A few pages back (or was it in the angry critics thread? i forgot) somebody mentioned the list of Doug's favorite movies, and how he liked certainly non-blockbuster films like Patton or Amadeus.

What do I bet that's just old Doug, and with new Doug, and the influence of Tamara/Malcolm and his autistic audience, his tastes have reverted to shit and now he just likes children's movies and the general blockbuster superhero film?

That's possible, I mean for all we know, he might even like some of the shittier movies he's reviewed as of late.

I'd say it's less that his tastes have reverted to shit, and more that he's always been into blockbuster capeshit and children's movies (ones with dark/adult themes, anyway). And both types of media are experiencing a sort of golden era - every superhero movie is designed to jumpstart years of sequels, and if a kids' flick isn't jampacked with outdated memes then it'll only get greenlit if it's "deep" - so it makes sense in a way that that's all it'd seem like Doug likes now.

Although I grant you that Doug's case would be different in that he's never been self-consciously a fan of "bad movies", it's sorta par for the course for internet reviewers to start liking shitty movies, really. Or at least to begin to feel more excitement for them at the expense of better movies. Because there's the recognition of "this movie looks like shit, and it also fits within the niche of things I review, so I can profit off of it".

I think Doug hates Stephen King because he hates anyone that's more successful and talented than him.
So basically, Doug hates everyone (except for other members of channel autism).

It's been speculated that Doug is rather passive-aggressive and has a bit of resentment towards people who've worked with him and ended up being more successful (like Lindsay and James).

semi-relevant question. Is Moulin Rouge a good movie? I ask since only know of the movie via that one nostalgia critic episode and the tv tropes page is surprisingly chill about it. All I know is that's it's a camp throwback to Musical Theatre or something which is a Jukebox Musical (save for the exception of one song which was meant for some Shakespear film).

It's purely a fluffy movie. You won't get any philosophical themes or ideas about it, but it's very pretty, the songs are sung decently, and it's just the typical tragic love story. What you see is what you get, you'll like it if you're into this type of movie. Anyone getting this angry about it like Doug is probably the same sperg who thinks the love story "ruined" Titanic.

It's okay. Nothing groundbreaking, but decent enough that it's worth a rental/torrent. (Though I will say that version of The Show Must Go On made me want to kill myself)

I may watch it when it finally gets on netflix. Also on a sidenote I think Rob and Doug deserves a thread the most. Linkara is just generic and his show isn't that bad actually, Spoony disappeared but i remembered liking his older episodes, Film Brain I have not watched (same for Todd), and fuck if I know anything on Oancitizen. All of which I did not watch any of these days save for Linkara's stuff, and his dirt is completely generic porn stuff (you know the term"A man has his needs") and getting ditching a girlfriend after transitioning.
On another side note, people complained about the love story in Titanic?

It's my favourite film :heart-empty:

Doug made several utterly moronic points in his review. Most of his criticisms were just that he didn't like the style of the film. The part where Nostalgia Chick says Christian slut-shamed Satine is also utter nonsense because all that was done as part of the play in the film and wasn't literally connected to the events outside the play. You might think that's just Lindsay being Lindsay, but apparently Doug wrote the script for the review and she had no input so I hold him responsible for that.

A man needs to be a dirty cock slut, HMMMMMMMM?

For a character that's so achingly earnest, it was strange to see him take apart one of the most achingly earnest films by an achingly earnest filmmaker.

Lindsay actually enjoys Moulin Rouge and considers it a well-made, stylized movie, and seems to regret taking part in the review because of how negative and unlike her own opinion it was.

Also, to add insult to injury, Lindsay got none of the profits from the review (source). Meaning, she had to shill Doug's viewpoint about movies for free. That sucks.

Don't question it. Move along. It's the least of your worries on the internet. There are many worse things out there ready for the frier. MANY.
Some people fucked plushies for fuck sake.

In speaking of which of which, did Lindsay consider leaving channel awesome recently?

In speaking of which, anything about Lindy leaving or even considering to ditch channel awesome or am I behind the curve here. Or anything about the other guy in the review. I.E. the guy who, for a lake of a better term, plays Javert in the Les Misérables review.

In speaking of which Les Misérables, much like Moulin Rouge, I've only heard and know of the film via NC's review of it so do guys think it's god or not?
