I was thinking this as well. Maybe with the recent shenanigans with youtube and the ADL going after channels and the crackdown on advertisers the IRS has also began to audit all these youtubers who have been making shit loads of money for years without recourse. I'm probably wrong but it wouldn't surprise me if we are seeing an overall crackdown on youtube as a money-making enterprise.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see YouTube implode as a major web giant in the next five years. It wasn't making any money when Google bought it, and according to articles from 2015 (years after the acquisition closed and Google had well embedded it into its services) it still wasn't making a profit. It's probably just a data mining operation like other "free" Google products are.

As for DSP, I'm not sure if he's completely fucked at this point or another begging vid like Chris makes all the time.

i rewatched his whiny emergency vlog because i knew i thought he said this! at 14:30 -

"Immediately after stream I have to whip something up quickly within an hour to two hours - people don't realize that usually i only have an hour because it takes me about a half hour if not longer to get videos queued to youtube" (then starts rambling about having to make dinner and by this time he only has time to make tv dinners)

If anyone can parse this into fucking english i'd be fucking shocked.

It's hilarious because he streams two 3 hour blocks, which is the laziest fucking shit Ive ever seen. 1pm-4pm and whatever his PM stream is because it's at some retarded block in the afternoon, then what, based on what he said above he takes 30 minutes to queue his shit up for you tube? So what DSP, you work for 7 hours a day? Oh god you're so busy!

It's hilarious because during the vlog he says "if I work any harder I'll get physically ill!"

I have thought so as well, I am of the belief that YouTube won't last and its bubble is about to burst. I recall reading articles years ago that talked about just what you're saying here; Google makes 0$ off YouTube and most likely never will.

For all the shit talk DSP likes to give to Google and YT if it up and disappeared tomorrow, he knows that he'd be up shit creek without a paddle.

He used to rub everything into the viewer's face:
- What he does is a business, and that playing or not playing certain games are business decisions
- He has a business degree and therefore it makes him an instant expert in everything related to his business
- He has an adult house, a BMW, a girlfriend
- He is a successful Youtuber and Streamer, a pioneer in his genre on top of being a former pro-fighting player, a Valedictorian student, a fastfood connaisseur and a womanizer.

Just to remember people that he is an adult and everybody who disagrees with him is a kid, an idiot, a basement dweller, or an incompetent company (a list that includes Google, Youtube, Twitch, Blip.TV, Atlus, Machinima, and possibly soon the IRS). He thinks he always was and is the bigger man in everything. Now reality strikes, and while I still doubt that there is something bigger about his sob story yesterday, it may be the final day he has to wake up from his dream. He blew his chances years ago and did a dying business, he never listened to what people told him (reasons see above) and he ever branched out.

I don't want Phil to suffer from physical harm or seeing him on the streets. But he sure can learn what it feels to be down on Earth again.

If he winds up on the streets or back in Connecticut it is because of the choices he made or didn't make. You can like him or his content, but you can't ignore the old adage: you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. Whatever happens to him is his own doing or undoing.

Just looked over at the King of Hate forums, he's actually getting a ton of shit (and by that I mean constructive criticism) from his fans over there.

One of them threw out a theory - could it be a health issue?
Maybe he's gotten a diagnosis that means he needs expensive treatment.

That said I think the condo assessment theory is the most likely one from what I've read so far.
The Reddit poster mentioned 'going out for lunch with other Youtubers', so you know for a fact it's not our guy.

One of Phils biggest mistakes was not adopting to a changing market and being stubborn. Him uploading unedited shit gameplay and the like worked for him for a while because well it was the thing people wanted. He took it all for granted and assumed things would always be like it was. I can't put him uploading unedited gameplay(before 2009/2010) as a bad thing as it was obviously what people subbed for. His biggest mistake wasn't starting off doing it, it was continuing doing that. Who the fuck wants sub boxes spammed in the current year?

Very few people, streams are mainstream now if we want gameplay only. From what I can tell though dsp has gained some success in doing streams. And he REALLY REALLY should've listened to his fans when they asked him to play minecraft back in 2011. So I'd say; if you run a business at least experiment with what your fans want, even if it's just one video to check for the viewership and attention it gets.

edit: it's also the inflexibility of his content that bugs me. He thinks he can't do one-off videos to experiment, it has to be long games with 100+ parts.

If he truly is getting audited by the government, it's his own fault completely.

He decided to try and cheat the IRS. He decided to gloat about it online. It's a recipe for disaster ultimately leading to someone reporting him.

Again, if this is true. No one is a bigger detractor than the King of Hate himself, Mr. Burnell.

Past Phil strategically put all the pieces in place to fuck over Future Phil

This emergency vlog only outright asked for "moral" support, 'although financial support would be good' addition aside. There's a good reason for that. DSP's been harping on about how great August Twitch "performance" was, and how it was finally ahead of YouTube unlikely July and every other previous month.

A quick reminder of just DSP's Twitch rough cheers & subs income since he returned at the end of November 2016:
20170919 Cheers & subs summaries for 201611-201708.png

August was a record by well over $500... but what about tips? These were just the tips I capped in roughly 1/3rd of DSP's streams in August, and it was over $700, so $1000+ in tips is perfectly reasonable to guesstimate:
201708 Tips totalling $718.99 pt1.png 201708 Tips totalling $718.99 pt2.png
Now let's look at September so far. Cheers & subs are actually down to being the 2nd worst month ever through to the 18th, only better than that June performance. BUT he's gotten ~$1900 in tips, and I don't even count all the vocal only sub $2 tips. Plus a couple days in a row DSP on prestream mentioned 'I also got a couple of tips overnight' for September 16th & 17th... they might be $1, they might be $100, no fucking idea. If you take out the questionable $500+$150 'troll' tips this is still well over $1300.

Even DSP must think he's hit a giving limit. That's over $3000 on Twitch in less than 2/3rds of the month, still over $2400 without those 2 'troll' tips.

$3000 is also how much DSP claims the condo lease & the 'house' mortgage cost, $1500 each per month. This is why he can't 'get a job', such a job would have pay him a few thousand dollars per month, probably a good chunk more. Good luck finding that job after years outside the traditional workforce.

God bless your autism Eddy!

It's surprising if this is true that he still have the audacity to do emergency videos and the constant begging. I hope for his sake he invests it or does something smart with it. If Phils dumb fans finds out that there were never any emergency and he was lying to them... well they wouldn't do anything or care but still!
