Yesterday Phil streamed Cuphead, and here are some impressions:

- Despite having butterfingers, he didn't perform as bad as Dean Takahashi, but also wasn't that good to brag about.
- Since the game can be bought via Twitch, Phil didn' trash-talk the game and its developers, and also tried to avoid foul language as much as possible ("what the flip?")
- He stalled starting the game for a good chunk, with a long pre-stream and talking into the intro of the game, which included singing over the chorus of the intro.
- While stream chat can barely help him, they managed so because Phil knew instantly that he has to "parry" pink enemies and projectiles to raise his special attack meter. Later on he miraculously realized that he can dodge under a certain enemy he can barely jump over, right after reading the stram chat.
- Phil died a total of 79 times, with about being half-way through the game. A good thirty percent of his deaths came from the boss named Grim Matchstick, a dragon he failed to memorize the telegraphed attacks repeatedly. Took him 30 minutes to beat this boss, right after his 20 minute break.
- Phil bought an upgrade which gave him an extra heart (so he can get hit another time without dying) but lowers his overall attack damage. Without that upgrade he would have died many times more. He also bought a second upgrade which would give him another heart (and lowering his damage further) but he forgot to equip it.
- The lowered damage means that he takes way longer to defeat bosses, the final fight before the end of the stream session dragged on forever since he also equipped a secondary shot type and failed to hit like 80 percent.
- In the jump and run levels he didn't do terrible, but already cheesed his way through because some mini-bosse appear on the edge of the screen and can be shot but still don't trigger their attacks, which Phil proudly made use of. One mini-boss also seemed to have glitched out.
- Phil died during one boss fight the same time the boss died but unlike Mega Man X3 back then the game gave him a pass and counted it as a level finish.
- At no point did he perform outstandingly good, and with the exception of the Grim Matchstick fight he didn't rage that much. He also didn't shit on the game (it's actually pretty good looking but short) but that may change since the tough bosses are yet to come.

To give credit where credit‘s due. He doesn‘t suck that much at platformers as he does in other genres.
Like in Dark Souls he is a complete fuckup who looks like he picked up a controller up the first time but in Cuphead (which I find really hard - maybe because I don‘t play platformers that often) he is actually pretty decent.

But even when he does halfway decent he of course has to let everyone know that he‘s da best.

Because platformers fit the only play-style he knows. Move from point A to point B as quickly as possible, don't slow down to learn anything or equip yourself properly, ignore the story and try to kill everything in your path. Plus they remind him of the cartoons he used to watch while he stayed indoors all summer because he had zero athletic or social skills and no one wanted to be his friend.

To be fair / 'true & honest' to Phil, during yesterday's prestream he did mention specifically and directly that the people who increased their pledges should decrease them before month's end otherwise they'd get charged for the next month.

He didn't vaguely mention it or dance around the topic, he very directly said it.

I don't think he did that great in Cuphead, he died a lot, many stupid and avoidable deaths thanks to his goldfish memory and bad reflexes. He could pass as a casual gamer, but remember this is the guy sitting on his high horse and once claimed to be one of the best overall video game players in the US.

Also the moment the difficulty reached a spike (e.g. fighting Grim Matchstick) he went in full concentration mode and did not comment at all for the duration of a boss phase, only complaining when he died.

And keep in mind he plays video games as a job and did little else the last ten years. Yet he is still below average.

I tuned into his stream for a few minutes yesterday (with adblockers on) while the farms was down and it was the usual Phil BS. I.E. "WTF DOOD? Nothing I could do? What am I supposed to do? I SUCK AT LIFE PLEASE GOD KILL ME NOW!" And etc.

I'm about 3 quarters through Cuphead and it's not that hard. So long as you possess the ability to experiment and try different weapons. Which of course means Phil is getting his shit pushed in.

Hardest boss so far (for me) has been the roller coaster one.

Can we say he isn't that bad at 2D platformers? 3D platformers like Jak 1/2, Crash Bandicoot, and Sly Cooper were terrible playthroughs.

Which I find very funny.

That‘s not only his playstyle but his lifestyle.

Move from age 27 to 35 as quickly as possible don‘t slow down to self reflect to learn anything or equip yourself for an adult life, ignore the people who want to help you and try to burn every bridge in your path.

Every month Phil's Patreon generates the same mini-drama--all over whether he'll play a shitty game or wear a shitty costume. Perhaps people liking your content and wanting to support you makes for a more successful Patreon than doing the same thing month after month, begging and feeling entitled due to your "an 8 year legacy."

Makes you wonder if Phil might get more paypigs signing up to his patreon and sustaining their pledges month to month if he didnt offer these mediocre goals in the first place. There's been some very angry and vocal ex patrons who got super pissed at him for the P7 thing, the PS4/4k TV nonsense, the rage quitting patron games, and more recently, the fuhrer like approach to what genre of games can even be voted on. Promising stuff for money then not upholding your end of the bargain is a sure fire way to make people not give you any more money.

Panhandling seems to earn him the greatest amount of cash, we've all seen the EMERGENCY tips flood in on stream. Just make his patreon another avenue to donate, keep offering the worthless rewards he's got per tier, and maybe he won't alienate so many fans with his flip-flopping on goal rules. I mean, do these people really want to see this middle-aged man dress up in a shitty sonic/deadpool/old meme costume for a day?

  • a smooth ridge between the upper lip and nose, small and wide-set eyes, a very thin upper lip, or other abnormal facial features
  • lack of focus
  • delayed development and problems in thinking, speech, movement, and social skills
  • poor judgment
  • problems seeing or hearing
  • learning disabilities
  • intellectual disability
  • heart problems
  • kidney defects and abnormalities
  • deformed limbs or fingers
  • mood swings

Or it could just be :autism:

* No coherent theory of mind

* Very linear thinking

* Poor social skills & few, shaky relationships

* Can't understand subtext or social norms

* Poor emotional control

* Hoarding

* Awkward body language & self-presentation

He's also a former severe alcoholic according to Rambo, which could explain poor coordination

They donate because they pity him or want to make him happy: The big tips during stream come in when he's REEEEing about an unfair opponent or "stupid" level. It's like giving candy to a screaming 5-year-old. And as any parent can tell you, bribing a (man)child to calm the fuck down just guarantees he'll do it again.

(From Phil's twitter)

How about you go and use your fucking PC Phil?
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?specials=1&page=2

Special games for a special person.

Why don't you just, I don't know, try being a bit fucking selective with which AAA releases you 'need' and go play through a ton of back catalog games for a while?

It wouldn't even be that hard for Phil to carve out a niche for himself besides being a children's fighting game 4th place champion. Just play some dumb games on PC, it's not that hard.

I think the breakup is starting to eat away at him. This is totally normal obviously, but initially he had this bravado like he was over her. Now it's clear he is thinking it over and realizing he fuched up.

A bunch of people called that out in this thread. Living alone is not good for humans, after a couple of months being by yourself it destroys you. Phil doesn't even have co workers to go see he's by himself all day every day.

The dickish thing was that he was initially regretting it purely because there was nobody to do his dinners or the chores for him. But now I think loneliness is setting in.

He was never "over her"-he kept quiet about it for like 2 weeks (understandable), and then lashed out at her on streams. IIRC he called Leanna a freeloader and said she'd never paid a dime toward the mortgage/bills within a month or two of the breakup. Apart from being a tremendous dick move, that's something I'd expect from a butthurt ex, not somebody trying to hold it together.

His amount of selfies increased a ton too which is usually an "I'm single, ladies!" move.
