Culture Gender reversal surgery is more in-demand than ever before

"The severe lack of understanding surrounding the topic - and its reversal counterpart - became particularly prevalent last week, when a proposed study to explore why transsexual people may want to “detransition” was reportedly shut down by Bath Spa University so as “not to offend people.”

“The fundamental reason given was that it might cause criticism of the research on social media and criticism of the research would be criticism of the university and they also added it was better not to offend people,” James Caspian, the psychotherapist behind the proposed research, told BBC Radio 4.""
Thought you guys might find this interesting, idk.

I'm honestly really fascinated by this. The mental gymnastics of it all are Olympic-level. You would think that with the rhetoric they spout about it being okay to question your gender, it would be equally as okay to just realize being transgender just isn't the right solution for you. People change, people grow, people have phases. It's normal. Some people go down the wrong path, especially when they're coaxed by peer pressure and guilt. But it's not the case.

They stifle every little bit of information about detransitioning. They hide the statistics and put up straw-men of the opposition and misrepresent and straight-up bully detransitioner arguments and perspectives. Everyone who comes forth about it or attempts to do research are *very* quickly silenced and forced out of the public eye. They stifle information about what hormonal replacement therapy and puberty blockers do to your health, and pretend that there are only net positives. They downplay the psychology of what having a trans parent who doesn't transition can do to a child's perspective of the world.

It's important to remember there's a *reason* they don't want people who detransition speaking out.

It seems like nobody learned from the case of David Reimer, who killed himself because of a failed transition.

I wouldn't use Reimer as an example. He was raised a girl after a botched circumcision when he was an infant. And only because some nutjob doctor convinced his parents it would be the best way to deal with what happened. The poor kid didn't even know he was actually a boy until he was a teenager. :(

I'm not saying people don't regret transitioning, but this wasn't one of those cases.

don't forget that his doctor, John Money, made Reimer do sexual shit with his brother and even took pictures.
He got away with it, and his works is still taken seriously.

Good time to be a surgeon then. :tugboat::tugboat::tugboat:
If you can externalize the lawsuits (e.g. by putting the blame on the psychologist who did the pre-op assessment), then maybe.

And note that the twice-mutilated junk is going to have lots of problems down the road. You may view this as a nightmare or an opportunity to make more money.

I'm sure it'll become more prevalent as kids are being told to chomp down on estrogen pills because they played with a Barbie once.

I foresee lots of lawsuits being directed at progressive doctors and parents in the future.

Allowing parents to sterilyze and mutilate kids because Billy likes Barbie or Susie likes wearing pants and having short hair is going to backfire so badly that there's no way it will end well. I foresee talk shows full of now adults talking about how horrible their lives have been because they were trooned out by crazy parents and doctors wanting to be pioneers.

You can't really get your dick back. They can reconstruct something. But it won't look good. I saw some guy on a documentary who detransitioned back to male and has a pump device. I can't imagine what the hell it looks like down there. But it's probably enough to cause a lot of mental distress. Some are going to just be left with neo-vaginas. I imagine your urethra gets sick of being repositioned and it opens you up to a lot off issues there too.

They can fix boobs a bit better at least. But that mega-clit isn't gonna go away. Nor will the deepened voice or exponential body hair.

I foresee lots of lawsuits being directed at progressive doctors and parents in the future.

Shitting all over the Hippocratic Oath by harming your patients by committing irreversible surgeries on them based on your own politics, rather than the interest of the patients, is not "progressive." It's cultural fascism.

More Transgenders Are Regretting Surgery, But No One Wants To Talk About It

There are a number of people who have undergone so-called “gender reassignment” surgery who regret it deeply, and they are largely being ignored in the rush to pronounce such surgery a beneficent act.

Professor Miroslav Djordjevic of Belgrade, one of the world’s leading genital reconstructive surgeons, has spoken with at least a dozen men who have undergone the traumatic surgery involving removing their genitalia and now wish to reverse the procedure. According to The Telegraph, the clients in question come from all over Europe. The Telegraph explains, “Reattaching the male genitalia is a complex procedure and takes several operations over the course of a year to fully complete (at a cost of some €18,000).”

Djordjevic stated that many of these individuals have contemplated suicide.

Yet it has been alleged that Bath Spa University rejected an application for research on gender reassignment reversal because it was a subject deemed “potentially politically incorrect.”

The Telegraph reports:

James Caspian, a psychotherapist who specialises in working with transgender people, suggested the research after a conversation with Prof Djordjevic in 2014 at a London restaurant where the Serbian told him about the number of reversals he was seeing, and the lack of academic rigour on the subject. According to Caspian, the university initially approved his proposal to research “detransitioning.” He then amassed some preliminary findings that suggested a growing number of young people – particularly young women – who were transitioning their gender and then regretting it.

But after submitting the more detailed proposal to Bath Spa, Caspian discovered he had been referred to the university ethics committee which rejected it over fears of criticism that might be directed toward the university.

Caspian said the university told him, "Engaging in a potentially politically incorrect piece of research carries a risk to the university. Attacks on social media may not be confined to the researcher, but may involve the university. The posting of unpleasant material on blogs or social media may be detrimental to the reputation of the university.”

Djordjevic commented, “Definitely reversal surgery and regret in transgender persons is one of the very hot topics. Generally, we have to support all research in this field.”

One anonymous transgender person told The Guardian that if she had been counseled, she might not have gone through the process, admitting, “Had that been the case for me, I might not have transitioned. I was so focused on trying to change my gender, I never stopped to think about what gender meant.”

Djordjevic is afraid that the current World Professional Association for Transgender Health guidelines forbidding “gender reassignment” surgery to anyone under 18 could be altered to include minors. He said he would not perform the surgery, adding, “I’m afraid what will happen five to 10 years later with this person. It is more than about surgery; it’s an issue of human rights. I could not accept them as a patient because I’d be afraid what would happen to their brain and mind.”

You mean to tell me that sterilizing mentally ill people is fascist?

No fucking way.

This research will be of value to transpeople so seeing it shut down because of 'poor optics' is depressing. If they're able to find any good data which can be used to differentiate between those who can be helped with surgury and not, it would free up valuable resources rather than spending it on unnessecary prodecures, medication and counseling required - ironically - for the gender dysphoria.
