The problem here is that he lost them from the moment that FB post was made.

If all you want is to talk about video games, a person can join here and just never leave the vidya subforum. No one here makes you pass a fucking civil service test just to give your opinion about yooka laylee. No one has reason to pay $100 at one specific store for a newspaper when every other store charges you 50 cents.

I disagree here.. There is a value to having board's that are specialized for enthusiasts. The Vidya forum here won't necessarily have the same value as early GAF. Just like if GAF opened a lolcow subforum.

Specialist services always > general services, but only at their speciality.

NeoGAF's problem is that it lost sight of what it's true specialty is, no thanks to its crazy SJW mods. Now it only can serve those who want to virtue signal with games as a focus. And that niche is leaving in droves as we speak.

Well, at the moment it's tiny and not likely to grow fat from neoGAF's ex-membership, on account of it's bland and brandless. It might grow quicker if it positioned itself as the forum for exGAFs who want to bitch about SJW's on the mother site (as opposed to the other new forums, which have positioned themselves as new, woker homes for social justice).

What you're saying makes sense, but the level of vetting these people want posters to go through just so they can all click the like button every time a mod makes a thread about a new trans developer is insane. What if you facebook friended some guy you talk to once a week on the bus, but before he does you the honor of accepting he says you have to answer three riddles and write him a 2 page essay about why you value him? You'd tell him to fuck off and go back to using facebook to fap to pics of college girls instead like god intended. Having a special focus does not mean you can't get what they're offering better and cheaper elsewhere.
