I didn't want to make this thread, I really didn't, but I feel like someone had to. I saw that there's a thread in the Tumblr subforum, but this thread is meant to be more general and cover a wider variety of websites/topics.

In the past several years, it seems like there's been a push to make (non-offending) pedophiles more acceptable to the general public by portraying them as innocent victims who deserve a medal for not raping children. Here are a few examples of such articles. For the record, I absolutely agree that more emphasis needs to be put on treatment/prevention of pedophilia instead of punishment. It's just that the tone of most of these articles ("you should totally feel sorry for and defend pedophiles, they say they haven't molested any kids so it's okay") makes me super uncomfortable.

But far more concerning is how bold pedophiles are becoming on surface web sites. You see it a lot in the manosphere (incels, red pillers, etc). Most of them defend themselves by pointing out they're hebephiles, or attracted to adolescents, but that's like saying syphilis isn't a big deal because AIDS is worse.

Oh yeah, "age of consent laws should be lowered/abolished" is another huge red flag. I've never seen actual teenagers argue for that, only creepy perverts in their thirties and older.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a genetic component (though it could easily be some of each; for example a sociopath raised in a loving home will probably not become a serial killer). Wouldn't it be nice if we could simply start to eliminate or quarantine this gene(s) from the gene pool? I think there is an overriding public interest if so.

Women and most people hate pedophiles because they prey on victims who cannot consent. Giving consent means you know fully what you are getting yourself into. Children can't consent. No matter how mature they claim to be, it's not true. They're young, naive, and don't know shit about the world. I mean, think of how you stupid you were at 14. They may know what sex is, but they aren't mature enough to handle the consequences of what happens afterward (STDs, unwanted pregnancy, etc.). And these guys wanna prey on that for their own sick fetish. It's disgusting.

Yeah but I don't think there's really a 'gene' for that though, kind of like when people where proposing a gay gene. We just can't really find one for now and I just don't think that the whole of humanity could throw away pedophillia like that because there are different reasons people are/become pedophiles.

And I can think of at least a few.

Firstly, the 'incel' kind of pedo that never really grew up. As someone above mentioned they go after young people because they know that they can't do any better, because they are insecure and still have the fantasises they had when they where 16/18 or younger. They really still want to play those fantasies out and don't care who they hurt to get that way. That's why they find young teenage girls attractive.

Then they're the people who for them have it as a kind of fetish. Whether from experiencing odd or damaging sexual encounters or watching weird porn I don't know. They get off to the kick, the fact they're fucking someone younger than them and it's looked down on, that it's dirty and irredeemable. The physical aspects of the youth to them are probably just some sort of sick bonus.

Then there's of course the people who are just just fucking monsters. Who don't do it for the physical aspect or because of what people think but because they can. These are the people who would literally fuck children because they are defenseless because they can easily be manipulated and do it out of the sheer joy of taking someone's hope, happiness or mental well being away. Too them it's power play, more mental than physical.

There's probably a lot more but in the end it's like all crimes. There are many reasons why people steal/rape/murder. What you said was like saying we should erase the 'murder' gene. It sadly can't be done like that.
