I can't seem to find it, but I saw a post floating around on Tumblr from a "non-offending MAP" about how they'd like to be interviewed by a news station such as FOX to tell the public how "safe" they are and that they need to be accepted. That's lovely; cannot believe we have to be politically correct for fucking pedophiles now. Calling them by what they really are hurts their feelings and attracts assblasted apologists, so now they want to be referred to as "minor attracted person(s)."

We can spend all day waffling about whether it should be 18 or 17 or 45, but this shit is not complicated. In the US, you are considered an adult at 18. You can vote, be drafted, and drive. This is a logical place to also place age of consent.
People who want it lowered do so because they have some kind of vested interest in having it lowered. We have Romeo and Juliet laws for the few fringe cases that may be more complicated, but in the end this is some straightforward shit that we're pretending is more complicated than it actually is.

I don't particularly give a shit if you were "born this way" or "have never offended". Many serial killers were "born that way" due to problems in their brain chemistry. Meth heads often have a family history of addiction, and a tendency towards addictive behavior.
Lot of people are born shitty. It does not mean we should have to hand wave their shit and just put up with fucking predators.

No you don't. You took that job because it gave you access to children. Even if you never thought about actually touching them you still fapped off your urges in the shower belonging to people who trusted you with their children. Every one of those kids is extremely lucky and could have easily become a victim. That doesn't make you commendable. It just means that no children were harmed that time but the future isn't exactly set in stone when you have a serious sexual deviancy that puts vulnerable children in harms way everywhere you go.
