Inactive Terry A. Davis / Terrence Andrew Davis - Creator of TempleOS (formerly LoseThos/sparrowOS)

So while I was walking to Aldi to get my breakfast beer, I took an extra walk because I was thinking about Terry.
He said in a recent video that we germans are Neanderthals. Thats not true, Neanderthals cared for their sick and elderlies.
Of course we do that too, but the label of being depressed or even shizoprenic is really bad. So a culture thousands of years ago inlcluded the sick into their life, we exclude them.

Being like Terry in Germany would result in people mostly turning away and turning him in. Ok shitting in buckets etc is not really gentlemenlike. And it is questionable how much of a threat to himself and others he is, especially that women he is obsessed about.

In the end Terry is an extremely interesting person for me because he is so indifferent about parts of his reputation (at least thats what I think). Most people are the exact opposite, and that renders so many of our talents and potential contributions to society mute. Thats sad.

I really think Terry´s life is often much better than that of so much people that consider themselves better, mine included.

Terry is drinking again, 3 days before his court appearance

Based Terry's rocking out to Dire Straits, righteous

I would hang out with Terry TBH.
He is, he said in chat yesterday "no biggy, I'll just have to go to jail for a day"
Yhat's obviously not a fair assesment, but what do you expect?
I would absolutely hang out with Terry. I love the dude.

This is an interesting turn of events for sure, but it's kinda like having an uncle who always let you smoke and shoot guns when you went over to his house. Your mom says Uncle Terry's out of town on 'business' for a while, a month later he's out of jail, and life goes on. He'll be back.

anyone know what medication he's on or supposed to take?
A bunch of people in the comments of his videos were telling him to take his Seroquel. Not sure if that is what he takes, but it is a common med for schizophrenia.

Unrelated, but I'd read about TempleOS years back, laughed, and moved on. I wish I had looked further. Terry's story really is sad as fuck; such talent and potential suffocated by severe mental illness.

Haven't heard of seroquel, I assume that's it's a company name. Or that they name things differently in America. Quetiapine is a popular one across the pond for schizos.

Sad but whatever, at least it's not me.

Google says Seroquel is the brand name for Quetiapine.

Templeos has some really interesting features, the IBM mainframe like help system, integrated rich/hypertextness across the whole system. The shell and compiler seem to have some cool features too but I have yet to actually install it... but it's essentially a perfect programmers playland
Mostly I wanna see the giraffe thingy because I like giraffes and god likes giraffes.

All joking aside, it actually is pretty sad. Untreated psychosis is a very big problem. There's no cure for schizophrenia (which I'm pretty sure Terry has) but it can be treated and alleviated to an extent. Unfortunately, I don't think Terry would ever get help willingly; he'd have to be forced into it.

Furthermore when someone with schizophrenia goes off their meds it can have bad consequences. Terry went off his meds around May/June of this year, a week or so after MisterMetokur's video and 2-3 weeks after "Hey Nigger", after his dad forgot his medication. Terry also said that his meds made him sterile and impotent.

Terry takes risperidone, not Seroquel.

Terry's not off his meds, you can see him taking them in the Shave video:

Schizophrenic people are also notorious for not taking their medication when they really need to. It's a source of endless frustration to the patients' doctors and loved ones. You basically have to stay on top of them regarding medication all the time, and Terry probably doesn't have someone who's willing to do that in his life.
