That's such a needlessly specific thing to try and argue, and be proud of, though. It's like demanding people recognise you as the originator of reaction videos, and when you're forced to admit that there were others that predate you, you start ranting about how you were still the first one to use the word "commentary".

He wants to be an originator of something, he wants to have meaning and impact, he wants to have made history. Only issue is none of those factor in to originating Lets Plays at all. He keeps getting told he's not an originator so he keeps getting more and more specific so what he's saying IS true and can't be proven wrong.

Right now it's so specific and every time he's proven wrong it gets more specific.

It started out as him being the originator of Lets plays, then he's the originator of video lets plays, then he's the originator of video lets plays on Youtube, Then he's the first person to do a video playthrough on Youtube without it being called a lets play, then he's the first person to do a full length video playthrough from start to finish on Youtube without it being called a lets play, then he's the first person to do a Youtube playthrough and get popular doing it, then he's ONE OF the first people of a few to do a Youtube playthrough and get popular doing it. Every time he's proven wrong he just switches it up. Right now he's caught a hole to say he's an originator and he's trying to exploit it by saying he's the first to call it a playthrough. When that's proven wrong he'll probably go back to first of a few select group fo people to do a Youtube playthrough and for it to be popular.

He's just gotta accept he wasn't the first to the party and didn't originate anything, but he won't. He started in mid 2008 and by then the whole playthrough thing was already going on for years. Was it as numerous and popular as it is now and could you make money off of it? Nope. Were there thousands of people doing it? Yes. People have been doing playthroughs online of video games since the early 2000s, calling them Lets Plays by the mid 2000s and pretty much the second Youtube got more popular, people uploaded their video lets plays to it, and even then those probably weren't the first video lets play and they were probably uploaded somewhere else. I dunno about 2006 but I know for sure I subscribed to a few people in 2007 who did full game playthroughs on Youtube. There weren't as many but DSP was far from the first, in fact he was so late to it he wouldn't even count as "one of the originals" I mean by 2008 people were already streaming the games on Livestream and JustinTV, never mind uploading them to Youtube.

If he were talented or charismatic, or even simply just doing all this for fun then he could make a good video out of that Duke game. The Christmas one is, out of the 3 expansion packs for Duke 3D, universally agreed to be the worst one. Levels are bad, story is hilariously bad (Feminists take Santa hostage and ruin Christmas), enemies are bad looking but silly, and the difficulty is too high as a negative result of the level design.

Now like I said, if he were approaching this game like one would approach a Sci-Fi original horror movie and just laugh at the absurdity, it could absolutely make for a good playthrough; it'd make for an excellent Christmas playthrough you record early in the month then auto-upload during the end of the month for when you're with family and friends for Christmas and New Years. But this is Phil Burnell we're talking about, and Phil Burnell is a miserable sack of shit that ruined his own life and nobody should feel sorry for. So instead of doing all that he'll spend Christmas alone, pull out the good old FakeSydePhil persona for his Christmas stream that he does on the 24th or 25th while nearly everyone else in the country/world is with family and friends, then cry his fat ass to sleep after ending the stream; but not before downing an entire bottle of gin and getting drunk for real. Here's hoping for another drunk tweet ARG at the end of December!

Also, even though Nuclear Winter is a crappy Duke 3D expansion, it's still an old school game that does not hold your hand at all, so it'd be a miracle if he didn't rage quit the first or second level.

How could you forget Elf Bowling and it's sequel Elf Bowling 2: Elves in Paradise?

I feel like nearly every human on Earth played that game at the end of 1999 and early 2000. God knows every office worker in North America did.

Forgive my lack of endless video game knowledge, but does anyone know what kinds of games we should expect from this event? I'm not aware of any games that are "Christmas themed," especially ones that he'd be able to play on his console.
I was going to say JJ Holiday Hare too. But that's a PC game so Phil will demand +500$ extra to play it.

As many other people have said, there are lots of older Christmas themed games. DSP specifically wants bad ones, he wants to do a few hours of MST3K style riffing on shitty video games. I won't direct link because it's spammy, but if you want more examples of Christmas games, search on YouTube for the LGR Christmas Reviews playlist from Lazy Game Reviews, it's up to 29 videos and he's been doing this for several years.

No one should pledge to do this, I'm firmly against giving DSP money. But I would be amused if this Christmas marathon became good Christmas related games. Someone earlier mentioned Die Hard Trilogy... just from Die Hard alone we have Trilogy 1&2 & Nakatomi Plaza (an FPS from Monolith in 2002) as decent games (although I can see DSP shitting all over them regardless). Vendetta on PS2/Xbox (GameCube originally but that version runs poorly, PS2 isn't a digital download for PS3/4 & it's not 360 BC so this is RIP), Die Hard Arcade (only in the west as an arcade game or on Saturn, good luck getting DSP to play that) or the infamous NES game are pretty bad and/or hard for him to capture.

So apparently he's going on a rant about being the originator of playthroughs? I mean if he meant a Failthrough then yes?

I wish you could sort Youtube videos oldest first because it'd prove him wrong instantly.
Someone got a screencap earlier, but I just decided to do a search on Google for playthrough, locked to January 1st 2000->December 31st 2007... first 3 hits are all YouTube videos, one dates back to December 2006 even. After that it's not YouTube related...

Forcing it to the YouTube site produces 10s if not hundreds of results (I think Google gives up at page 50 now? Page 50 just had 1 with playthrough in the title though.)

This is a totally underwhelming product that I wouldn't pay any money for.

- 7 hours isn't a marathon. Phil already streams around 6 hours of gaming each day (with a Hungry Man inbetween). What makes 7 hours much different than a regular stream? People on Twitch do 12 hours... 24 hours... hell, they do entire weeks for charity.
Even his patron & recent chat mod kekon3 attempted a 24 hour marathon stream for the Extra Life charity. Looking at his past broadcasts, he made it at least 15 hours, if not 17+ hours before stopping.

I have no recorded evidence of this, but I tuned in a couple days ago before this marathon & kekon3 was talking about it coming up... he'd implied he'd done these marathons for at least the last 3 years.

EDIT: Fuck it of course I have recorded evidence, the VoD was still up so I recorded the relevant portion.
Highlights from that November 2nd "Final Day for Halloween Lootboxes" VoD:
00:28 States when he comes home from 'Comeback' he'll try to do 24 hours from there.
01:44 Shows the message he was typing
02:00 Talking about what games he'll play, states "not just 1 or 2 [games] like I've done literally the last 3 years I've done it"
02:38 Hello Neighbor is a promo code from the dev, states that it's a "paid product"
03:28 Why he's not doing spooky games, to not step on the toes of other members of his Twitch team, talks about platformer marathon years ago.
- We just saw how disappointing the Halloween stream was. We just saw that a costume doesn't really add much. We just saw that starting 3 new games is a waste of time because he'll never return to what he started. We just saw how bored and unhappy he was, and that he boredquit/ragequit all three games. Of course he'll retroactively say it was a "great" stream and "everyone had a lot of fun".
I did have to laugh when I heard DSP try to hype the Christmas marathon DURING the Halloween marathon as the PUBG goal was looking highly unlikely. He'd been whining about Friday the 13th, he claimed his chat was bored with Call of Cthulhu right before the Attack of the Fishmen chase sequence, and the Manhunt whinefest was yet to come. Why would viewers want more of this? Just because he hasn't done it with a Christmas flavour yet?

- The tease of a drunk stream is pathetic. This is a man who pretended that he'd started an ARG after an accidental drunk tweet. He won't get drunk enough to lose control/authority of his stream. He saves the private gin party for afterwards.
Because the self appointed "realest motherfucker on the internet" knows he needs to keep his cards close to his vest. He's got so many lies to keep up with, so much pent up emotion about how he really feels about...everything he can't slip up by imbibing too much truth serum. He needs to maintain this "I'm too busy to move on or improve my life, learn to cook, socialize, meet another woman, etc". Deep down he knows it's all crock of shit but he barely manages to keep a lid on it. I can just imagine the conversations he has with his parents when they try to bring this stuff up with him. Especially his dad. Lol. If he wasn't such an irredeemable piece of shit I would feel sorry for him.

Nah. In the original photo you can still see her snaggletooth. Unless of course, you're into that sorta thing.
It has to be a low res picture and you have to be looking at it out of the corner of your eye.

Remember the KOGaming Community Creations program or KOCC? Remember how DSP let it die completely in the summer? DSP admitted there were 2 supplied montages that he could have posted, he just didn't bother to check the videos out or the minimal 'editing' work of recording intro/outro voiceover & rerendering.
One of these videos was supposedly a positive montage of Dark Souls, the 'original' run, made by kekon3. Makes your patrons feel real appreciated I'm sure. At least he's sort of fixed his name in the WiP Patreon crawls now, the special a character in his name glitched out along with a few others name, now he's just got a normal a for that letter.
I'd feel bad for him but he must enjoy the shitty treatment because he keeps coming back for more. He seems young so maybe he'll have an epiphany and see DSP for what he truly is one day. Or maybe he'll just get sucked in further and become another Vidar. I remember a long time ago seeing a video from some young DSP fan who had literally taken on the mannerisms and inflections of DSP himself (aside from the snorting). I think it was an unboxing video which came up in my related section for whatever reason. That was pretty unsettling seeing a mini Phil in the making, which is always a risk with younger fans.

2-3 years ago i saw a cuople taking turns streaming Mario Kart for 500+ hours, they stoped since they had to leave for PAX.

It's because it's something that sets him apart from the rest. He plays it up like there are so many releases during this time that only the most hardcore gamers are able to do them all. And since he's the hardest of the hardcore gamers and one of the best overall gamers in this country, according to himself at least, then nobody else can touch him and blah blah blah.

My personal pet theory is that it's also an excuse for him to beg more: He claims to need extra pitybux (or donated games) to afford all the new releases, and that he really deserves them because it's SO STRESSFUL and he's working SO HARD to keep up but detractors/YT cpm/whatever is keeping him down. It's a crock of shit of course, but his fans don't notice or don't care anyways.

Genuine scientific question, how does a shut-in, who has no real-life interactions with people, get a virus?
When you think about it, that's quite an achievement for Phil.
Goutboy still needs to venture outside to do the weekly shopping and to pick up his fast food. And considering his lack of any real exercise and shitty food he eats, it's a surprise he doesn't get even more sick than he does.

Well, viruses are everywhere, we ourselves carry viruses that don't affect us but could affect other beings should they jump ship. So basically like any other infection.

Phil can't shut himself away so much that he doesn't have contact with outside particles, but he can definitely shut himself away so much that his immune system gets rocked by every variation of the cold and flu that he happens to encounter when he goes out.

Now obviously him saying he's the first one to use playthrough is a load of shit. But the worst part is, despite the evidence out there, there will be people among his fans who will believe him.

Whether its a 'virus' or not is debatable. But most likely Phil's current sleep schedule heavily relates. Having a poor/inconsistent sleep schedule is a guaranteed way to compromise your immune system.

From my own experience I can tell you that starting the day with an energy drink (like V8 energy juice) is also a great way to start having not only issues with your sleep but your immune system as well.

Diet is probably a major point in all this, its likely Phil has numerous vitamin deficiencies/imbalances. Phil probably tells himself that stuff like the V8 energy drink give him his much needed vitamins and minerals, but there are certain things that only a balanced diet can give you.

You wouldn't even need to go into any detail on any of these factors:
Poor sleep +
Poor diet +
Poor day-to-day life (no physical activity)

= Increase likelihood of sickness

Mold in his air system. Dust getting in his lungs, eating so much shit food it kills his immune system, the fact he stays up till like 5am drinking. Goutmans health is fucked even in his safe "bubble" because like everything else it's his fault for not changing.
