“Oh goody, there’s a new app sweeping the nation that removes our makeup for us,” SAID NO ONE EVER. The existence of this unwelcome service, called MakeApp, is thanks to a 28-year-old Brooklyn-based entrepreneur named Ashot Gabrelyanov. It uses artificial intelligence (shouldn’t this type of tech be saved for IDK, legit causes?!) to remove any and all traces of makeup from one’s photo. You get five free images to bosh, after which the app will cost you $1.

Please join me in some not-so-silent outrage.

Apparently its use in helping to identify potential victims of human trafficking doesn't outweigh the crushing of feminist egos.

I like how not one of these bitches has even tried to say anything about the app not being accurate.

They KNOW it's accurate and it cuts right through their makeup like a laser.

The fact that there are women that look better than them even without makeup is hilariously infuriating to a lot of shallow bitches, apparently.

Imagine people like Madonna being confronted with the possibility of just looking through their makeup... she in particular is completely obsessed with appearing like that youthful sex symbol (we even had a thread in the lolcow section about that), if you take an app that essentially shatters that mirage and uncovers the unsightly hag hidden underneath, she'll go ballistic. And she's just one of many.

Ah yes, the well-documented Russian hate of the female sex.

Also Slate.com signalling good allydom with what appears to be humanity's weakest burn attempt:

Well done. It just looks like the photo is overexposed.

Make-up isn't a tool of the patriarchy to objectify women? It's amazing when things become not sexist for convenience sometimes.

Teen Vogue. Still a magazine, still a Vogue imprint, still meant to make you feel bad so as to sell you garbage, and aimed at legal children. It just co-opted the performative wokeness shit.

Also people are forgetting to mention that the app is one of those automatic image editor apps that can add makeup to a photo of someone. It just happens to be able to remove makeup as well. The intended audience for this kind of app is still women, not sexist men who want to call out women for being lying skanks for wearing makeup or whatever angle is being pushed.

The salt, the salt, it gets into every crack!

New York Magazine:

"laughable and problematic"

Which is it, laughable or problematic? Pick one.

Remember, "problematic" used to mean "problematic."

It doesn't any more.

What it now means is

"I am a huge faggot please rape my face."

Update your dictionaries accordingly.

The app basically lightens the area around your eyes since it assumes you wear eye makeup, your eyebrows because it assumes you fill them in, and makes your lips pale, while adding greyish looking skin and red patches. Not everyone does their eyebrows and lots of people have clear skin and dark lashes or lips naturally. Also, there are already tons of makeupless celebrity photos. I guess you can't trust them, but it's not hard to have great skin when you have thousands to spend on it, really...

This app wouldn't have gotten ANY attention if it weren't for the outcry. I'm sure there have been similar apps or programs before that no one cared about. Now, everyone is going to download it and use it on people they don't like.

As you wish! Anita as an added bonus.

It doesn't remove the more exciting tricks like contouring. See the Taylor example above: Taylor has the fuck contoured out of her nose to make it look much smaller and narrower 100% of the time, but the app can't adjust for that.
