BAKERSFIELD, California — Charles Manson is in the hospital, TMZ is reporting, and a source familiar with his situation told TMZ, “it’s not going to get any better for him.”

TMZ was told Manson was rushed to a Bakersfield hospital Sunday, November 12th, and has been wheeled around on a gurney for various treatments — escorted by five uniformed officers.

According to TMZ, the 83-year-old Manson, who lays still covered in blankets, looks ashen.

Sources told TMZ Manson’s health has been steadily deteriorating and, as it was put to TMZ, “it’s just a matter of time.”

Manson had serious health issues back in January as well, when he was hospitalized for severe intestinal bleeding and needed surgery to repair a lesion, but he was deemed too weak by doctors and sent back to prison.

Charles Manson never directly killed anyone, no. But he did manipulate and direct his followers to commit the murders. The reason why he's in jail for life (however long that may be) while some of the actual murderers have been free for decades is because, in the eyes of the law, orchestrating a murder is often just as bad or worse than the act of murder itself. This explains why conspiracy to commit murder has a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The sad thing is that, had they been left to their own devices, Manson's followers would have most likely never killed or even hurt anyone. The prosecutors knew that Manson was responsible for everything even though he never actually dirtied his hands, which is why they pushed so hard for his sentence.

This is the big one here. Iirc, he manipulated a few of his female members from inside prison too. One of which had been at his trial in 1970 tried to assassinate Gerald Ford a few years later which was a direct order from him. The only reason she didn't succeed is because her gun jammed.

I can't remember a lot about this whole shitshow but I want to say that he planned the whole thing. You know, not directly participating in it thinking he'd get off on a technicality but it backfired because Vince Bugliosi drilled a hole in his ass and got him convicted.
