I heard the Kickstarter had... a bumpy start to say the least. But I saw it as a genuine attempt to make a game. Besides, people should be aware of the risks of crowd-funded projects.
I also believe Mauer made a genuine attempt to contribute to the game's development in good faith, but then came a hurdle. Very rarely do video game projects see completion without some turmoil. At that time, Mauer had a choice: to act professionally and diplomatically, or chimp out. I don't think anyone needs a reminder of what path he chose. Mauer has been acting with malice ever since, and is still standing behind his clit-cockery.
Imagos has made some errors for sure, but they seem to be reasonable people who have at least acknowledged their mistakes. That's the difference, and why people are generally more lenient with them, and not Mauer. With Mauer, it's always everyone else's fault.

The video went down pretty fast so I only got to watch it partway, but from my recollection of it and from what other people have said, it was a lot of allegations that Anonymous Person X tried to investigate a story about Imagos back in May and was hit with legal threats. And then some voice-changed interview with Anonymous Person Y (who all evidence points to being Don Thacker's ex-girlfriend) claiming there were never any contracts with any employees, allegations of lots of shady money dealings, and assertions that multiple people working for Imagos had never been paid, that sort of thing.
Of course, there was no actual proof put forward to back these claims, just the testimony of the likely ex-girlfriend. Nor did MAH make any attempt to talk to Thacker or Lemnard before he dropped the defamation bomb.

More than likely. At this stage of the game, there is NO WAY that a settlement where Alex pays nothing will be reached. Too much real monetary damage can be proven because of Alex's shenanigans.

Alex likes to lie, a lot. They've changed their version of events easily half a dozen times now. They've spun multiple different narratives to multiple different people, then tried to go back and delete/DMCA out all the evidence.
But now they've been deposed, and if they later go into court and try to change their story again, now it's been legally documented that they're committing perjury. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if what they said in the deposition directly contradicted their 'response' to the suit in some way. Alex isn't smart enough to know how to keep their lies straight.
That's my guess as to why Alex is suddenly acting like they want to settle.
