Here's where I disagree with you.
I've seen plenty of incels make light of "the rope," and admit to suicidal ideation.
Prison? Fuck prison; they're not going to prison. These guys, if/when they commit acts of violence, will do it as the lead-up to killing themselves.
Hanging yourself in your own closet, blowing your own brains out, or mixing up chemicals to suffocate yourself in your dad's garden shed? You're just one sad, lonely loser nobody cared about in life, and even if your death makes the local papers, it'll be quickly forgotten. Mow down a bunch of Chads and Stacies before offing yourself (or committing suicide-by-cop)? You're international news, and your name will get remembered. You get to go out in a blaze of glory, and be a legend long after your death. You go from a complete nobody to an absolute
somebody, and if your self-esteem is far enough in the shitter, being remembered with revulsion is good enough.
Get one of these dudes who genuinely feels he has no reason left to live, despises humanity, and is grandiose enough in his fantasies to think perpetual infamy is as good a form of immortality as any, and yeah, I think plenty of these guys are capable of committing violent acts as part of their own suicides. And even if the number of incels who meet that description is small, how many is an acceptable number, one we needn't worry about?
