Maybe it's always been like this and I've never noticed, but this shift to being against centrists is pretty amazing. Radical centrist becomes a real position when?
The more radical of the left think that anyone who doesn't share their ideology is their enemy, thus their hatred towards centrists. They believe that centrists are too cowardly to have an allegiance to a party (preferably Democrat in this case) and that they enable the Republicans by not helping the Democrats all the time.

We've reached a point where people are derogatorily referred to as "fence sitters" and scorned for not having strong convictions just because they want to see more evidence or believe an issue isn't black and white. I've lost count of how many times I've seen people (almost always people who heavily lean left) mock the "both sides have a point" argument. Now, in some cases, things really are black and white and one side is completely right and the other side is completely wrong (like, I think we can all agree that genocide is bad), but for the most part things are not that absolute.

Another instance of a grown man struggling to relate to politics unless it can be connected to popular media franchise in some way

Sometimes... Dear fucking God, sometimes do I wish these people would leave my country and go to Africa, already. I'm tired of their sad/pathetic, depressed belly-achin', honestly - anything to teach them a lesson on what Obama really wanted for this country, but thankfully didn't succeed in bringing in.

I worry about Mid-Terms, however, what with bigger picture stuff and all, despite not being a fan of Trump, otherwise - those Dems really got nothing to run on but "muh... muh... ", well, nothin'!

We need to stop those damn centerists! They could be up to something.... maybe.
