Once again..........there is always some truth to what he says. I don't think even Phil is stupid enough to just make something like that up and then never address it again. Pretty much, seeing as current prestreams end around 13:15->13:30 PST. I actually joke that DSP is 1 hour/2.5 hours late at that point, because I never accepted his pushing back from an 11am start time, it's absurd.

It's the same reason he's playing Bloodborne, a game he said he'd never go back to. He's just dipping back into games that got a large reaction and created several TIHYDPs so he can ham it up for however many hours. And it works, I guess. He can just go down a list of what TIHYDPs have the most views and he's guaranteed to get Participation

DSP seems to have forgotten his original plan to do Bloodborne & TOH as downtime in January, consider this post from November 28th (old cap) when asked about Demon's Souls thanks to the servers getting shutdown in February... "no plans to play a Souls-style game in January, at all." It would be extreme pedantry to not consider Bloodborne "Souls-style", and I would have swapped out Bloodborne + TOH for Demon's Souls once I'd heard about the server shutdown.

So it really feels like DSP has dropped Bloodborne for a paid MGS & perhaps double paid double MGS 'downtime' playthrough during January. He also still has to play Mario Sunshine that was a shunted Patrons' Choice winner because he wants as little ad revenue loss as possible - so ideally January, perhaps July. DSP only implied not playing Mario Sunshine in January if he was still playing Mario Odyssey too close to it.

No, DSP only had Twitch chat for MGS1 in summer 2013. He played MGS2 & 3 in January 2012... and even without chat, The Sorrow got spoiled for MGS3 by lots of comments, a memorable moment in the MGS3 TIHYDP.

I have to ask - given that boss is literally a walk simulator (I mean, short of the previous Cobra Unit bosses who appear even if you just force their defeat through exhaustion instead of death, all you do is walk up a fucking stream provided you didn't kill anybody), how exactly did the stream help him?

He was told about the pills before he even got to that part. Could have been a pretty good time watching him die and do it over a couple of times but he knew days in advance.

One other point I think is worth making is that people who chase after Phil's supporters/donators via Twitter etc are pretty much just as bad (SCIENTOLOGY!!!!). People give other people money and you may not agree with it. By going out and trying to "hunt" down every single person you're just providing a valid reason for doing what they're doing. No one donating to Phil is probably unaware of masturbate-gate or whatever other controversy about Phil exists.

And people give money to Phil specifically because of the entertainment of watching people sperg out about it. You can look back at people like DarksydeGeoff who tipped Phil like $100 or some shit and then commented on how worthwhile it was because of how mad people got.

It's like if you're against the homosex or the furries. People like to do things which you may or may not agree with (for instance riding a Harley Davidson while kitted out in leather). It's like parents who don't want their daughters to go out with some random guy, the more negative attention they get, the more inspired they are to go against it.

If it actually had any redeeming quality then people would've stopped donating to him by now, but amazingly they haven't.

And yes, its interesting to know how much income he generates, what he spends money on and to make general observations about da supporters and that's a worthwhile topic of discussion, but watching people trying to chase down every muppet on the internet who throws 3 cents at Phil seems fairly exceptional.

Phil will meet Patreon goals and then refuse to play the games that won.

on another note, i shot an e-mail to the registrar of fairfield university since a quick google search said i should be able to legally get answers to "yes/no" type questions (has he graduated from your university, did he obtain x degree, etc etc) but they just sent a template e-mail directing me to the national clearinghouse, which requires me to pay twenty bucks for degree verification.
