I think they're kinda fascinating for the time, though the thing with connecting lines and odd panel directions is a bit weird. There was even some beef with the Penny Arcade guys iirc.

Really. It's hard to know the details exactly, because Michelle deleted the posts and her tumblr, and it all happened around 2015 so the posts are more or less buried now.
Here are the basics:
Someone asked about asexual characters in her comic. Michelle asked what asexuality was, then she said no, none of the characters she's written are asexual, and she's not putting any in. Some people got pissed off by that.
Then there was, a little later, an update where one of the characters got called a "virgin nerd lord", as an insult. Which was, again, seen as a terrible crime against asexuals. Here's a callout post about it. Not only does a character use "virgin" as an insult, she isn't corrected by any of the other characters. Oh no. A bratty 12 year old does something bratty, and the artist doesn't draw an extra three pages where her brother lectures her on Not Being Aphobic.
The main drama seemed to have been between Michelle, and the person who made that callout post. Both of them made fun of each other, both of them got hatemail, and everyone was being exceptional about it. Anyway, she eventually left everything apart from twitter, and someone else runs the tumblr.
That's the main one, but that paved the way for more people to start calling her out for all kinds of things, from bad drawing to not providing trigger warnings to paedophilia.
...So basically, she drew a set of digital paintings featuring the four main characters, ages 15, 16, 18, 19. All were naked, but with nothing shown, covered up by symbolic artsy stuff that varied for each character. Still, two are underage. The one with the 15 year old also involved knives (the character in question very openly shown as being depressed/self harming... hell, the whole comic is big on being an analogy for depression and mental illness). So that was also romanticising mental illness/self harm.
Michelle also plans to pair off the 18 and 15 year old (referred to as "flaming arrow" if you read posts about it). Note it hasn't happened in the comic yet, but a lot of the people complaining are "victims of CSA" saying they are uncomfortable with it. Put in quotation marks because this is tumblr, and everyone and their dog claims to be a CSA victim on there.
Honestly everyone involved was (is? who knows) really immature about the whole thing. Including the artist. Probably for the best that she left.
I still read the comic, but every now and then, so that I can read a chunk of pages at once. And just... avoid whatever people might be complaining about now. I'm not invested enough in it to start arguing online.
Here's a more concise summary I found after typing all that shite. Like I said, it was two years ago now, so I forget. Fun drama at the time though.

you know that honestly isn't much of a rant its 2 tweets and i genuinely think he's saying good shit there, he stands by his principles despite me thinking that some people deserve to be btfo and i respect him for it
combined with the fact that he owned up for being a prat and i have a new appreciation for shen
his comics are kind of lame and trite though he should try something new

Bex Kurasai. She’s a weeb furry who claims to have won +100 art contests with different drawing styles, yet it’s apparent by her work all she could pull together is a generic anime style.
She also ran a webcomic about her sexy Mary Sue self insert at a site I used to frequent. It was unimaginative and relied too heavily on basic webcomic tropes for humor.

Shen seems like a pleasent chap with slightly silly views, I can't really generate much bile. Especially since he took his roasting on the chin like a boss.

I'd like to bring to our attention this thing. This particular comic is called 'Mysteries of the Obscured' but it's part of a wider umbrella of comics produced by one artist here. She's got 7 on the go atm, which seems excessive, and it shows in the artwork. Take a look:
It's flat, the anatomy is wonky, the shading sucks, and they missed a word in the speech bubble in panel 4. All in all it's pretty bad. But hey, I'm being harsh. Sure they're overworking themselves at 7 comics at once, but they're just some 13 year old with lots of ideas and enthusiasm running before they can walk. They'll develop their talent in the future.
Except the artist isn't 13, because they've been running their website for over a fucking decade.
I've checked whois and the domain was registered 2005. The earliest comic page I can find is 2010, but even then 7 years of writing and drawing a dozen comics has produced this. There is definitely progress since the first pages, but it's like calling shitting your pants every two days instead of daily 'progress'. Meanwhile compare the difference between a 2007 page of Dresden Codak and a 2010 one. I know Aaron Diaz is a lolcow who will do anything to avoid working but he's still a good artist, and in the space of three years he refined his craft further. Merlin here has been working on her comics for a minimum of 7 years and a maximum of 13, and the only changes I can see in that time are going fully digital. It actually amazes me how someone can make no progress in such a length of time.

Saw no mention of Las Lindas in this thread, so I think so far that I'm the only one who dislike it.
Trying too hard doesn't get even close to the "story" when you have balloon titties bouncing everywhere and the only likeable character you'll meet there is actually someone who was meant to be hated.
