As long as you hate kids I guess it's perfectly normal to have a crush on, as well as defend, someone with 13 sexual offense charges against children, including the attempted rape of an 11-month-old baby.

I forget who it was, but that woman who murdered her boyfriend had defenders too, and I remember one person saying "she couldn't have done it, she's hot, hot people don't kill people!" Hear that folks? If you're attractive, you can open fire on a nun convention and get off scot-free!

Pretty much every criminal who doesn't look like dogshit have fans willing to overlook their very serious flaws like paedophilia or sociopathy. Even the Columbine kids. It's the cliché "bad boy who I can redeem" fantasy taken to extremes I suppose, nothing new.

That case makes a severe factual error, though. It ignored the U.S. Code of Military Justice, which indeed does have such a provision. It's not at all certain that the legal principle in this case would apply to the UCMJ, as the UCMJ has other capital penalties, such as misbehavior before the enemy, which would be impermissible in other contexts.

I know this is old and this will get me hate but there is nothing wrong with having sex with a 14yo girl if it is done with a male of a similar age (approx. 14-20yo) in holy matrimony, till death to they part. This is not pedophilia. Pedophilia is the attraction to prepubescents. By 14 virtually every girl has hit puberty by then so it's not pedophilia. A whole study was conducted to prove that, unlike pedophilia, attraction to 15-20 year old girls is not only natural but the most desired age bracket.

You're right, having sex with a pubescent girl is not technically pedophilia. That doesn't mean it's not super fucked up and wrong, though. Teenagers are protected by age of consent laws because they still don't have the mental or emotional capacity to really understand sex. It's not a big deal if a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old mess around (it's pretty normal, actually), but it's wrong for an adult to mess around with a teenager. That's because teenagers are basically on the same level whereas adults are on a much higher one because they have mental/emotional/sexual maturity and experience.

Being attracted to 15-20 year old girls when you're an adult may be "natural," but that doesn't mean it's morally acceptable. What makes us human is our ability to rise above our natural instincts.
