I find it really hilarious that these very minor changes to Patreon pledges, basically charging the patrons $0.35 more for a $1 pledge, has these idiots freaking out like this. It's fucking $0.35/mo. You could afford $1 but now that extra quarter and dime too much for you? What, did that money go into savings so that you could buy a can of soda every four months?

people liked to mass-pledge 1 dollar or similar low amounts to tons of different creators because they wanted to "give them support" but their content isn't even close to worth spending real money on every month
those people now have to actually think about who they give their money to and thus people like voidburger and other "good opinion havers" are pretty much guaranteed to lose a major amount of income
this most likely won't hurt actual good content creators that offer real incentives and is a good thing

Eh, yes and no. He's definitely got some tendencies that lean that way, but from what I've seen he usually tries to keep politics to himself. (Though that might have changed recently, I haven't kept up with him much lately.)

To catch people up basically people in the thread were unsure of how much chip agreed with void or if he just put up with it because it appears to be his first serious relationship and most people like sex. In responce chip tweeted out to paraphrase 'lol people think i dont actually get along with void' and has more recently tweeted some more SJ-ey stuff but at this point id be surprised if anyone left on lp wasnt.
As far as void n chips relationship im pretty sure neither of them want children staying together is simple, easy and the only possible reason i could see them breaking up is if chip stays unemployed for a long time.
In other somewhat related news the strawhatNO! LP of breath of the wild(with thornbrain, yaminosenshi who i think was in a harvest moon lp and prolific cocomentator skippygranola) is about to enter the gerudo desert and if you havent heard link cross dresses wich seemingly 50% of sjws think is great because it means link is secretly trans and the other half hate because its a joke about crossdressers and that resembles them(apart from link actually passes).When the next episode drops tomorrow they're seemingly gonna drop any pretense of being apolitical and probably have a speech about how the japs are evil and wrong for maligning the poor trans folks: heres the after episode discussion where they set it up from the last episode:

She's a self-professed socialist whose entire income is dependent on the whims of a gigantic corporation.
I don't think she gets what constitutes a "stupid business decision". Strategic moves are not bad just because she personally doesn't like them. Patreon is probably going to do fine and keep making money. Every big business with a lot of customers will lose some of them every time they change anything. If Void were capable of being a successful businessperson, she wouldn't be whining about the system not bowing to her. She'd be asking herself how she could build a better boat so she could ride the changing tides.
I've spoken up for Chip before and I'll do so again. I really don't care if people have stupid or ill-thought political beliefs. I hope they're all open-minded (and I think stupid things sometimes so I try to be too!). Sometimes I see people here shit on someone as a dirty SJW just because that person is leftist. That's not enough. Chip keeps politics out of his LPs and as a creator who wants to be treated as a professional, that's what he's supposed to do.
Now that said, maybe he is part of the crowd that decided the LP community has to be far left and socialist. We all know that's an open reality - you can't join our hobby profession club unless you have the right politics. It's obviously not like Hollywood in degree but is identical in nature. Believe the wrong thing and get iced out, we'll ban you from the forum, report your twitter, so on. So maybe he is part of that. Or maybe he's the other side of the shit sandwich, the quisling who got bullied into it by a movement that didn't threaten him directly but made it clear where the lines were being drawn and anyone who knew what was good for them had better be behind the right one. Maybe he decided his ability to keep making LPs was more important than anyone else's freedom to do so without being targeted.
I don't defend that. There's a reason Dante dedicated a circle of hell to cowards. Whether he's a koolaid maker or just a drinker doesn't mean a whole lot because at the end of the day, both are just punishing and destroying things they don't agree with. The only trivial difference is whether the ball already had a little momentum or not by the time they decided to add to it, but given the never-my-fault approach the religion of eternal victimhood takes to any unpleasant consequences surrounding them it probably means even less than you'd hope. Even the firestarters themselves conveniently forget that their pockets are full of matches when confronted.
The long and short of it is that his habit of keeping politics out of his product tells me he's got some practical grounding. He can believe we need to replace money with a childish needs-based barter system or that racist hatred is okay when it's coming from non-whites and I'll still buy him a beer and listen to him so long as he listens to me in turn.
Void clearly doesn't. She follows the Twitter "our stock prices be damned, we've got morality to enforce" school of neckonomics. Although not completely because I'm sure someone at Twitter could give you some song and dance about why they're confident in their company's future while Void will just sperg about how her loss of money is somehow someone else's bad financial decision.
Think about that for a minute. Voidburger loses money because of a change in her business environment that she doesn't know how to deal with, and all that means to her is someone else made a bad decision. Can you imagine a clearer example of never-my-fault entitlement?

The faith Voidburger and her ilk place in profit-driven corporations is so tremendously ironic. Patreon will pay my bills, Google will make my career, Twitter will silence my enemies. One of the main theses of cyberpunk literature is the danger of social, economic and political power being drawn from technology that's owned by private hands accountable to nobody, and here we are in the 21st century where masses of young liberals are begging for powerful companies to fight their battles from them, absolve them from their pain and deliver unto them a techno-utopia where the corrupt government has no power.
It's all about laziness and timidity. It's easier to bitch at Google to protect something like net neutrality than it is to take any action yourself, and then excommunicate any company which doesn't personally align with your ideology until they agree to fight on your behalf. That is the definition of being a parasite.
