Law Upcoming vote on Net Neutrality laws - How many times do we need to strike this shit down?

FCC plans to vote to overturn U.S. net neutrality rules in December
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The head of the Federal Communications Commission is set to unveil plans next week for a final vote to reverse a landmark 2015 net neutrality order barring the blocking or slowing of web content, two people briefed on the plans said.

In May, the FCC voted 2-1 to advance Republican FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to withdraw the former Obama administration’s order reclassifying internet service providers as if they were utilities. Pai now plans to hold a final vote on the proposal at the FCC’s Dec. 14 meeting, the people said, and roll out details of the plans next week.

Pai asked in May for public comment on whether the FCC has authority or should keep any regulations limiting internet providers’ ability to block, throttle or offer “fast lanes” to some websites, known as “paid prioritization.” Several industry officials told Reuters they expect Pai to drop those specific legal requirements but retain some transparency requirements under the order.

An FCC spokesman declined to comment.

Internet providers including AT&T Inc, Comcast Corp and Verizon Communications Inc say ending the rules could spark billions in additional broadband investment and eliminate the possibility a future administration could regulate internet pricing.

Critics say the move could harm consumers, small businesses and access to the internet.

In July, a group representing major technology firms including Alphabet Inc and Facebook Inc urged Pai to drop plans to rescind the rules.

Advocacy group Free Press said Wednesday “we’ll learn the gory details in the next few days, but we know that Pai intends to dismantle the basic protections that have fueled the internet’s growth.”

Pai, who argues the Obama order was unnecessary and harms jobs and investment, has not committed to retaining any rules, but said he favors an “open internet.” The proposal to reverse the Obama rules reclassifying internet service has drawn more than 22 million comments.

Pai is mounting an aggressive deregulatory agenda since being named by President Donald Trump to head the FCC.

On Thursday the FCC will vote on Pai’s proposal to eliminate the 42-year-old ban on cross-ownership of a newspaper and TV station in a major market. The proposal would make it easier for media companies to buy additional TV stations in the same market.

Pai is also expected to call for an initial vote in December to rescind rules that say one company may not own stations serving more than 39 percent of U.S. television households, two people briefed on the matter said.
Oh, and Comcast is already lobbying.

I'm so sick of this shit, seriously. The FCC is whoring out for Comcast and AT&T instead of ensuring that American citizens have equal access to the internet.

I know nothing about the law, so maybe somebody who DOES can tell me whether it’s possible to essentially filibuster this thing into oblivion? To basically use vexatious tactics to stall the process until a time where the people who support this can be gotten rid of and replaced with others who’ll likely have a second vote and strike it down?

I’m guessing that the answer is “no,” but it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Color me curious as well.

So really we're just wringing our hands here and absolutely nobody has any idea what's going to happen; but more than likely, it's that everybody is ignoring the elephant in the room in a bid to stay sane, so that the most logical end result is going to be this is going to get through clean as a whistle because money talks?

I mean I'm not getting what we're supposed to do or what anyone could do here, let alone a fistful of states and technocrats if it truly is a case where the FCC has the upper hand?

The TL;DR is that there's too many variables.

The FCC is facing both massive criminal and civil response for this, including multiple lawsuits from the states over blatant bot-netting, the blocked FOIA requests, and the attempts to basically do an end-run around the entire process. Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Apple are all lined up with lawsuits that are going to attempt to overturn this as well, and that's on top of stuff like the attempt to legislate this entire shebang into a fucking corner (admittedly a bipartisan effort). Even other ISPs are planning to throw down to fight for NN, since they have no desire to see their rivals get any bigger and thus are operating in self-interest.

But the FCC and Pai aren't going to stop pushing for this, and are going to take every avenue they can to make sure this sticks. Bear in mind, the FCC is acutely aware of how much they just pissed off everyone else in the country, and legitimately does not give a fuck, often laughing about it to a point where one might be inspired to sodomize them with a chunk of their own frozen smug.

There's a lot up in the air, and we aren't likely to see where everything goes until the proverbial shitstorm hits one way or the other.

I'm not sure what the fraud is. It was a purely partisan 3-2 vote. Maybe Ajit took some bribes. It really seems likely. Prove it, though.

During the lead-up to the NN vote, Pai and friends held this big thing on the FCC's website encouraging people to tell the FCC how to vote, trying to establish that they had a mandate. "Repeal Net Neutrality" won hands-down, but there was a small problem: There was fucking excessive obvious fake accounts - ones that not only posted the exact same thing millions of times verbatim, but which also used stolen user data - meaning that many of these alleged accounts cheering on the death of NN were done using accounts that had stolen the identities of actual people just to push this horse-shit.

In a perfect world, people would want the FCC disbanded or at least overhauled so they don't have as much power as the currently do. Or, in the worst case scenario, at least be more transparent when it comes to making moves like this.

But from what I'm gathering, the FCC appears to have more power than even the government. And they're abusing it to meet their ends, like the botting incident or the Republican reps dismissing the DMC reps because they're women, and not because they were against it. If they do win this lawsuit against the states, who knows what other law they could pull out their ass regarding investigations or injunctions against the organization. Hence why people are all up in an uproar over how they keep getting away with everything short of murder.

As if Pajit wasn't assraped enough. I would love it if his beloved Verizon took his ass down and made him their designated shitting target, just to wipe the smug off his face.

These people have no idea what any of this was about, do they?

A case could be made that the public comment period was full of corrupt, negligent and stolen identities. A comment period is required, this could be used to invalidate the vote by saying the comment period was corrupt as well as ignored. It could also lead to investigations into why dead people and people who don't own computers were commenting under the FCCs watch. It is negligence at best and criminal at worst.

There's trillions of dollars lined up against this. It is not going to survive. Even if it does, it will be reversed during the next head of the FCC or by re-stacking it. The ISPs are dying and they are trying to hold on as best they can. The war chest up against them is insane. Streetshitter will also be remembered and unless verizon takes him back, I think people will be fucking him in the ass for the rest of his life.

The FCC can be smug all it wants, but its mandate is to serve the interests of consumers. If the botting and everything shows the violation of that mandate, you can bet the next step will be lobbyists looking to strip power from the FCC.

I mean, I know everyone is running around worrying, but saying they overstepped is understating it. They walked right into a buzz saw coming at their face and they are laughing about it. A bi-partisan coalition of states suing, a bi-partisan bill, activist suits, civil suits, criminal investigations. You don't just escape from that unscathed. People have been looking to strip the FCC of their power for a long time. Even if all this fails, expect lobbyists whispering in the ears of the congress and the senate to do just that.

This. What's worse here is that the public comment period nonsense is something that Verizon's been caught in the act before on.

What keeps Pai going? The backlash wasn't some tiny protest, it was fucking massive. Big internet companies (hopefully) will fight this in court. Even a few fellow Republicans are starting to turn their backs on Pai. Nobody except Verizon wants this, yet Pai is so hellbent on passing this. Like there is no way he come out looking good with this shitshow. How much is he getting paid to pass it?

I don't even think it's the money at this point.

He's doing this to make clear he's an asset to Verizon down the line when he's inevitably replaced.

Pai is dumb as dogshit, combined with an indoctrinated pussy for Verizon. He's too fucking stupid to think for himself and he legitimately believes he is doing the right thing even after taking these massive bribes. He is really, fucking stupid as well as an empty headed retard. He is the most dangerous type. Too stupid and believes he is smarter than everyone else and righteous. I said before, but he needs to legit need to be emotionally destroyed to beat him. Because he is so fucking thick, his brain is so fucking small, he has 0 critical thinking skills. So you have this stupid faggot smiling like 'I'm doing you a favor'. You have to destroy him. Not even joking. He has to be broken. Lawsuits, civil suits, relentless comments, social isolation and ostracization. To make him so fucking miserable and take away any power he has.

Wait, I thought Verizon was just as much against their former street shitter like everyone else.

Pajeet gasped when he saw a reflection in his bedroom mirror: through the slightly open door, he caught a glimpse of the chiseled abs and square jaw of the handsome physical manifestation of Verizon. Pajeet stood and spun around, his piles of bribe money swinging heavily with the momentum. He grabbed the door and flung it open, revealing Verizon quivering with desire in the hallway.

Verizon was ashamed at being caught, but its shame made it even hotter. Hotter for shills. It stepped into the room, and its bulging abs accidentally smushed into Pajeet'’s designated shitting chest.

As Pajeet'’s shit-eating grin squished up against its granite abs, Verizon almost had a shill aneurysm.

“"Pajeet..." ”Verizon murmured thickly, its throbbing wallet pressing against Pajeet. "“There is a secret I need to not tell you: You are my forbidden desire.”"

Pajeet had been waiting to hear these words. His heart was lifted on golden wings and soared toward a radiant sun of perfect joy. He saw himself and Verizon happy together, bathed in the golden light of love.
“
"Verizon..."” Pajeet moaned, his lush wallet straining with desire. "“I need you.”"

Verizon, coarse abs pulsing softly in the moonlight, stood silently.

Pajeet looked at it expectantly.

"“Oh, sorry,"” he added. “"Verizon, I need you –monetarily.”"

At hearing those beautiful words, Verizon flexed its rough-hewn abs and Pajeet found himself being guided to his soft bed by the sheer force of Verizon'’s undulating cash-flow. He parted his legs as if about to take a designated shit. Verizon fucked Pajeet like Pajeet fucked the internet, shoving cash right up his ass. He felt fulfilled with monetary fulfillment. The two lay still for a moment as the stinky scent of bribery and lovemaking billowed around the room.

Pejeet got out of bed, still shimmering with orgasm. He glowed with contentment. "Verizon..." he said softly, “there’s something I have to tell you."

But the bed was empty.

Verizon was gone, escaped out the bedroom window. In the distance, Pajeet heard the fading sound of jingling money bags.

Oh my how ... Lewd.

These people are so fucking stupid it hurts. The government isn't controlling anything. It is simply making sure the ISPs can't charge more for Netflix than for email. Fuck these conservatives are as dumb as progtards

Well here's the latest thing they're spamming everywhere today. Remember the stupid incels and their "ultimate blackpill" and how dumb that was? Here's a bunch more crazy incels with their "ultimate redpill". It's equally stupid.

The FCC bootlicking is incredible.

Retards, the internet is now a utility. It is basically a requirement for daily life. It is NOT a content provider solely. It provides bank transactions, grading, security, research, communication, business.

Try to find a job without the internet. Try to do research without it. Or communicate with your boss. Try to get a fast responses to problems. Try to buy something outside of your state or your country.

It is a necessary facet of modern life. In fact most people use the internet on their phone more than they use it for talking. You will find navigating life without it now difficult, if not impossible. It is a utility like power, water and phone. To say otherwise is being an incompetent retard.

The amount of faith they are putting in the FTC, FCC and the ISPs is fucking comical. Basically their solution is to constantly go to court and hope that the FTC wins and that the ISPs play nice. They are dumb as dogshit
