Jonathan Monsarrat v. Brian Zaiger (2017)

The once mighty ED can't even defend itself against a single exceptional copyright troll. Has anyone done a virgin ED vs the Chad Kiwi Farms yet?

ED isn't going away. Zaiger has no stake in it. Zaiger doesn't host it. Zaiger doesn't run it. This is just him suffering for his association to the site. I don't even know if Zaiger owns the current domain name.

Why is Zaiger getting sued at all if he isn't the webhost?

Ediots are the Syrian refugees of the internet. They come from a archaic land in droves, overpopulating the original users. They then shit up the site, fill it malware and pop-ups, and make the sight unusable. I've seen EDF threads, and they are awful. Terrible opening posts, barely any actual on topic discussion, and worst of all unfunny weening. We have to find some way to help ED, because if we don't, then we're just fucked

I'll miss those furry drama articles that felt like they were written by other pissed off furries who also likely had pages there.

I don't remember the last time I read something on ED that actually made me laugh. Everything is so hyper political it doesn't come off as funny it comes off as angry, like the old ED was carefree and didn't give a fuck and the new one has 50 sections in their gamergate series detailing how serious it is.

Encylopedia Dramatica always made me uncomfortable and it gave my old computer a virus. I say good riddance.

Really dont want to see the refugee situation if it does die off though. I dont want to live through another Vine situation.

A refugee situation of the 30 regular forum posters they have there that hate this site?

I think the only funny article remotely related to current politics (and barely that even) was the Leslie Jones trolling article, and even that was less GamerGate sperging and more like people fucking with a dumbass celeb on Twitter (as in classic trolling) before it got INTERNET HATE MACHINE tier coverage. Most of the funny articles on ED are the ones that have to do with old lolcows, and even then they often have that tryhardy style to them.

I think most of the people worth a damn on ED either went crazy SJW from troll's remorse or made accounts here/post on chans.

ED at this point is another SomethingAwful, eBaumsworld, YTMND, or other site from that same point in internet history. It's a dead walking corpse that somehow hasn't gone bankrupt yet that nobody on the current internet even knows about, yet had an impact at one point with regards to web culture. Most of their former population has moved on and it shows in the sense that most of the articles there suck now, especially since this site has more standards while ED lets you post an article on Kevin Robinson from school.

I know ED is cancerous shit, but it's departure marks the further death of the old internet. I can't see anything like ED being created again and flourishing to the level ED did. And like it or not, most of us can meekly admit that it was a part of our browser history eons ago.

Don't need to be meek about that, ED 10 years ago was essentially lolcow.wiki with less coherent writing and more /b/ memes.
I'm curious if they've locked down their wiki export/backup stuff; I'd love to dump a copy of the site onto an empty mediawiki, roll every article back to 2008 and just lock it there in read-only mode. It'd be a nice bit of internet history preservation and would also make a bunch of cows really really mad.
