Culture The Hollywood Sex Pest Megathread - America saw Yewtree and said 'We can top that'

Since the New York Times published its bombshell report last week on the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, the number of accusers grown considerably in both number and in severity.

While much of the public’s attention is on high-profile accusers such as Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow, the film producer also reportedly took advantage of staffers, aspiring actresses, and other young women in the industry.

Emily Nestor, for example, was a temporary front-desk assistant when Weinstein reportedly said he’d boost her career if she accepted his sexual advances. Another Weinstein employee, Lauren O’Conner, penned a scathing memo to the company detailing more alleged abuse.

“I am a 28 year old woman trying to make a living and a career,” she wrote, according to the New York Times. “The balance of power is me: 0, Harvey Weinstein: 10.”

In a New Yorker exposé published on Tuesday, 16 current and former staffers told Ronan Farrow, that, in his words, “the behavior was widely known within both Miramax and the Weinstein Company.”

We want to know if there are more victims out there who were not given the chance to speak out.

If you feel you have been personally abused or harassed by Weinstein at any time during your career, send an email to carla.herreria@huffpost.com to talk about it.

Jann Wenner Accused of Sexual Assault by Former Rolling Stone Employee

Jonathan Wells alleges that Wenner assaulted him before offering him a position at Rolling Stone Press

Wenner's such a completely arrogant knucklehead that he's commissioned biographies on three separate occasions. The first two times the resulting books made him look so bad they were shelved, and the third one was printed last year only after a protracted fight with the biographer, and it being demoted to unauthorized.

Jann Wenner and His Biographer Have a Falling Out

So the depraved den of Rape Culture was actually Rolling Stone? Gee? Who would have imagined...

I'd bet Wenner is completely blind to the hypocrisy at work here.

I'd bet Wenner is completely blind to the hypocrisy at work here.

I can't stand Jann Wenner's Stan Smith chin. It's like a cartoon chin come to life.

I wonder if these accusations are part of the reason why he's selling off Rolling Stone. Or it could be that it's an outdated magazine that no one has read in decades.

I've heard for a long time that Jann Wenner is an absolute piece of crap. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is basically his favorites list. Steve Miller ripped them a new one and there was a lot of butthurt.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...ustry-is-f--kin-gangsters-and-crooks-20160411

He's not wrong. Look at how many artists have been so epically ripped off that they end up in the poorhouse while execs sit on gold plated toilet seats.

It's a meaningless award that still hold some meaning in terms of accomplishment for a lifetime of work. Seeing crap artists and younger artists who will be around for awhile yet inducted before living legends who no longer have time on their side is pretty saddening.

Anyway, totally not surprised Wenner is a rapist. I've heard he's a walking asshat but I never heard he was a perv. I've seen jokes that he's into Jon Bon Jovi a little too much. Maybe that's not exactly a joke. I'm sure he fantasizes about him all the time.

Even in this day and age we're still at this level. When a guy is assaulted it's a big joke. He's supposed to be ok with it. Rosario is such a hypocrite. It's just another example of "do as I say not as I do". If she gets called out she'll make a ton of excuses and her feminist white knights will defend her and flame and shame whoever calls her own. Bitch.

Lol angelfire.
Fun thing about Angelfire is that they never delete old accounts. Even if they are two decades old. So if you look around you can find a goldmine of bad fanfiction and stuff like that just abandoned on people's sites.

Blind Items Revealed #9
December 21, 2017

It is hard to believe it has been this long, but the person I spoke to is in her early 40's now. She says that she thinks she is the inspiration for one of the songs written by this permanent A list singer/band. She says that when she was 13, she had sex with the lead singer of the group and he knew how old she was. She says it was consensual, but, come on, she was 13 and he was about a decade older. She does say that after the first time, when he was abusing drugs he would call her over to his place and start out nicely but then would rape her or beat her while they were having sex. She says this went on for about four months until she found out he was doing the same thing to several other teens at her school. Later when she heard one of their songs, it was almost word for word, their sexual experiences.

Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain? Really? I don't know if I believe this blind. I was guessing someone in Motley Crue or something like that. I was thrown for a loop that it was grunge and not a hair band. Some of the guesses are a tad exceptional to me. But I shouldn't be surprised at anyone these days.

The problem with these blinds is that there are people who take them as 100% fact with no other proof than a paragraph. Some of them are really out there like the one related to that supposedly fake news story about Macauley Culkin witnessing children being ritualistically murdered by Hollywood bigshots and the Chris & Chester vs. Pizzagate thing.

Is she going to formally come forward or not? I'm really curious to see if she speaks up publicly about this. Was it one of the girls on the Kurt & Courtney documentary? Those people are really something. I recommend you watch it. It's a real eye opener about the area Kurt grew up in. Complete white trash hellhole. He was from Aberdeen and not Seattle. There's many interviews where the guys from the other big grunge bands mention that they didn't know the Nirvana guys very well even though they got lumped in with everyone else.

If Kurt raped you and your schoolmates repeatedly and wrote songs about it like Polly and Rape Me then come forward. I know Courtney is terrifying but if you feel the need to bring the house down then bring it down. Maybe it will start a bigger domino effect in the music industry.

I don't think it's very surprising at all that a musician had sex with an underage girl. You'd have to round up every guy that ever picked up a guitar or belted out a tune if you wanted to start tackling that problem. But raping a 13 year old and strutting around the highschool looking for more to torture and beat is really something. That means there are multiple victims who couldn't come forward because there was no way to take Kurt down at the time. Plus he would have had the money to pay people off quietly.

Now people are going to watch interviews with Kurt and start saying "See? That's a rapist's voice. That's a pedo's face". When they never saw it before.

If it's true then that's terrible. And for some people it's like finding out that their god was the devil all along. But I am having trouble buying it. At least with Twiggy the victim came forward and told her story at great length. There was a lot of detail. The Nick Carter story has a public victim too. I know Kurt's godhood makes it much harder to get people on board though. So there might be a lot of fear just in how you may be treated by everyone just for putting your name out there.

‘Crash’ Director Paul Haggis Accused of Sexual Misconduct, Including Two Rapes
Four women in total have come forward with allegations against Haggis.

Paul Haggis has been accused of sexual misconduct by four women. Three of the women came forward to The Associated Press following a civil lawsuit that was filed by a publicist that accused the “Crash” director of rape. In the new accusations, one woman says Haggis forced her to perform oral sex and then raped her. Another says she managed to get away from Haggis before an assault took place, but she remembers Haggis telling her, “I need to be inside you.”

The rape victim was a 28-year-old publicist working on a television show that Haggis was producing in 1996. He invited her to review photos from the show with him one night in the office. “I thought it was odd, but I agreed,” she told the AP. “He was the ultimate boss. I didn’t feel inclined to say no.”

The woman ended up alone with Haggis in the office. She says he began to kiss her as soon as she walked into the room. Despite her attempt to pull away, Haggis allegedly forced himself on her.

“I was just numb. I didn’t know what to do,” she said.

She says Haggis then forced her to perform oral sex on him and then raped her. The woman’s account was verified by one of her friends, who told the AP that in the weeks after the attack the woman lost weight and appeared to be depressed.

The woman who filed the civil lawsuit against Haggis is Haleigh Breest, who says Haggis rapped her at his Manhattan apartment in 2013. The director allegedly offered her a ride back to her home, but he ended up taking her to his place instead. Breest says she agreed to go inside and have a glass of wine because she felt it would insult him if she declined.

While inside, Haggis allegedly became “sexually aggressive.” The lawsuit claims the director forced Breest into the bedroom, where he tried to tear her tights off. She said she told him to stop but he did not listen, and Haggis then forced her to perform oral sex, fondled her, and raped her. Breests told friends and a psychologist about the encounter.

All the woman say Haggis first tried to kiss them. When they tried to get him to stop, he allegedly got more aggressive.

Haggis’ lawyer has denied all accusations against the filmmaker. “He didn’t rape anybody,” Christine Lepera, attorney for Haggis, said.

So, I found this on Haggis' twitter

I will take this with a pinch of salt, Haggis has left Scientology in a very, very vocal way, and I wouldn't put it past them to try and plant a story to harm his credibility as a detractor.

While I'm going to go with the simpler explanation of "he's a fucking sex fiend", it wouldn't be out of character for scientologists to do this. Hubbard created a practice called "Fair Game" back in the 50s that basically said anyone deemed an enemy or threat to scientology could be harassed using any means necessary.

In his confidential Manual of Justice of 1959, Hubbard wrote "People attack Scientology. I never forget it, always even the score." He advocated using private investigators to investigate critics, who had turned out to be "members of the Communist Party or criminals, usually both. The smell of police or private detectives caused them to fly, to close down, to confess. Hire them and damn the cost when you need to." He said that in dealing with opponents, his followers should "always find or manufacture enough threat against them to cause them to sue for peace. Don't ever defend. Always attack." He urged the use of "black propaganda" to "destroy reputation or public belief in persons, companies or nations."

The most likely theory is that this is real and they were sitting on it. Scientology is widely known for making dossiers on their people.

Put simply: What to do with the rest of them?

What, indeed?

The idea that Casey Affleck will present the Best Actress trophy --at least by tradion-- is almost too good to be true.

Academy members now regret banning Weinstein so hastily

Academy establishes 'code of conduct' post-Weinstein scandal

Artist claims Roman Polanksi molested her when she was 10

Academy under pressure to boot Roman Polanski, Bill Cosby

Harvey Weinstein booted from the Academy
When Hollywood’s most prestigious organization, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) — the group of nearly 7,000 actors, directors and other industry types who dole out the Oscars — expelled Harvey Weinstein on Oct. 14,audiences applauded. But by acting so swiftly, a mere nine days after the New York Times first reported allegations of sexual assault against the movie producer, the outfit now finds itself facing a dilemma.

Put simply: What to do with the rest of them?

Harvey opened the floodgates,” said one male Academy member. “Now the Academy’s drowning in a tide of s—t. They don’t know what hit them.”

What hit, of course, were more alleged horror stories about so many other members: Kevin Spaceyassaulting multiple young men, Dustin Hoffmansticking his hands in women’s pants, director Brett Ratner forcing himself on actresses. Ben Affleck seen on video groping a female host on “Total Request Live.” Screenwriter James Toback accused of sexual misdeeds by nearly 40 women. (As of this past Tuesday, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said it is considering criminal charges in five cases against Toback. He, Spacey, Hoffman and Ratner, deny the claims against them.)

“[We] can’t regret [kicking out Harvey] because [we] didn’t really have a choice,” said one male member of AMPAS’ board of governors. “Some members were quite vehement. But [we] didn’t have time to really weigh out the repercussions.”

The emergency meeting to deal with Weinstein was conducted by the 54-member board of governors — which includes Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldbergand Laura Dern — after it received a Change.org petition with 100,000 signatures calling for his ouster.

“But they didn’t give themselves time to plot out how to deal with this going forward,” said one prominent female AMPAS member. “Kathleen Kennedy [producer of the ‘Star Wars’ series] and some other female governors panicked and felt compelled to act. They thought [Weinstein] could hurt AMPAS’ cred. Some of them did admit this was a slippery slope. But I don’t think they imagined how slippery. It’s definitely caused some problems and fights among the board members.”

Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski, who were charged years before the Weinstein stories broke? Or, for that matter, Casey Affleck — who last year won the Best Actor Oscar — and the two settled cases of sexual-harassment against him? (Cosby and Affleck deny the accusations.)

Now, a barrage of petitions, complaints and letters are hitting Academy CEO Dawn Hudson and newly elected president John Bailey about these other men.

Hudson had no comment, but her office reissued her original statement on the matter, which read in part: “[A] task force will finalize procedures for handling allegations of misconduct, assuring that we can address them fairly and expeditiously. This process will ultimately guide the board of governors in assessing if certain allegations warrant action regarding membership. Those procedures will be sent to you in the new year.”

Mused another AMPAS member, “Dawn may not know what they’re going to do next. That’s why the statement’s so vague. The board says they’re going to take action, but what action? It will have to be case by case. They must revisit and reinvent the rules of membership — and it’s gonna get nasty.”

To join AMPAS, you must work in the production of theatrically-released films and be recommended by two members — unless you are already an Academy Award nominee, in which case you are automatically considered for inclusion.

Before Weinstein, there had only been one example of revoked membership: “Godfather” actor Carmine Caridi in 2004, who’d loaned out Academy screeners that wound up being sold.)

Indie filmmaker Cameron Bossert filed a petition to the Academy in early November, asking it to bar Casey Affleck from presenting this year’s Best Actress trophy, as is the tradition with the reigning Best Actor.

“I just wanted to help hold the Academy responsible for their really broad statement, that ‘the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in workplace harassment is over,’ ” Bossert told us. “My petition wasn’t the best way of doing this, since the Affleck case was settled out of court already. But the Academy said they were taking it into consideration, and I stopped the petition at 20,000 signatures.”

Edward Lozzi, a veteran publicist who represents two of the more than 50 women who claim abuse by Bill Cosby, has written a letter to the Academy and asked AMPAS mem bers to do the same, as he simultaneously wages a social-media campaign calling for Cosby’s ouster.

“I asked. . . why people like that are still in when you’re sacking others? Most of the public doesn’t even know who Harvey Weinstein is. There’s been no response to my letter,” he said. “It would be nice for [the] Academy to let us know they are not totally apathetic.”

Meanwhile, Marianne Barnard, a Santa Barbara, Calif., artist who’s the fifth woman to claim Polanski sexually assaulted her when she was underage, launched a Care2 petition on Oct. 18, demanding the Academy eject him. So far, no response.

Some Academy members are fed up with the feet-dragging.

“None of [us] really know what the governors are thinking on this subject. They rarely tell us anything until they’ve decided. Then we have to read it in the trades or get a curt e-mail from Dawn, usually after it appears in the press. All we can do is roll our eyes,” said one longtime member. “I’m in favor of taking a very measured approach and not a knee-jerk reaction.”

Variety co-Editor-in-Chief Claudia Eller asked Hudson on Nov. 1 if the organization was “giving any thought” to the Casey Affleck situation. Hudson replied, “Yes, we are. Of course we are. We’re giving thought to all of this.”

But insiders say thinking about it isn’t enough.

“They keep saying that,” said another female member. “But, right now, it’s easier to get someone an Academy Award than to get them expelled from the Academy.”
