All his stupid social justice bullshit aside, Wheaton has proven repeatedly what a shitty actor he is. He constantly makes statements that betray that he has zero understanding about the characters he plays, even as he pretends to be all about the craft.

He claimed that he was playing Parish as the "grown up version of Wesley" by playing him as an egomaniacal asshole. Except as much as everyone might despise Wesley, that's not who he was. The kid had a bit of an ego, yeah, but he was also super eager to please, constantly wanted to work with everyone, wanted to prove himself as opposed to just having everything handed to him, held himself to high standards and listened to others. Parish, meanwhile, was a stubborn asshat that demanded he be handed everything without needing to show he deserved it and treated everyone around him like shit.

In other words, Parish wasn't a grown up Wesley Crusher, he was just a grown-up Wil Wheaton.

Hell he has zero understanding about the character when he's playing himself.

Though I imagine a second Sheldon Cooper would be kind of exhausting...

Dobby to the rescue.

Oh, it gets better:

Wesley Crusher might have been shoved in our faces and annoyed the audience, but let's go over what he did RIGHT.

1. In that episode everyone loves where Picard told him to shut up, HE WAS ACTUALLY CORRECT, and his reasons for speaking up were logical.

2. He had moments of genuine innovation, like using parts of a science experiment as a jury-rigged warp drive engine once.

3. He screwed up and fell on his sword in the nanites episode and immediately admitted his fault to Captain Picard when he realized he was to blame.

4. When he took part in a fuckup that got people killed in the academy and Picard told him to either do the right thing on his own or he would make sure Wesley would bring eternal shame to the uniform he wore, Wesley accepted telling the disgraceful truth on his own hook despite losing face with friends.

Short version, Wesley Crusher showed genuine intelligence, integrity, and honor.

Shame Wheaton never learned any from his character.

Oh hey, I can post this here too!

Wheaton getting hardcore triggered over a LEGO.

EDIT: just realized this is linked in the OP. Consider this a preview of the hilarity.
Let's be perfectly honest here. Wil is far more annoying than Wesley. And he was already plenty annoying as it is.

It really takes a lot of skill and SJW bullshit to be more annoying than the charcater you played on an overrated sci-fi drama that doesn't hold up all that well.

What's with star trek with producing actors like Patrick Stewart, William shanter, and Leonard Nimoy(rest his soul) yet in the same stroke they produce lolcows like George Takei and Will Wheaton?
PS:snerkel was better than Wesley

Because spoiled Californians with the right family connections/the right token ethnicity are even more likely to get parts than competent or even great actors.
