So Phil just put Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite on his list for "most disappointing games of 2017". At face value, I can get behind that, and I'm sure many others can, too.
The problem lies in why Phil thinks Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite deserves to hold the no.5 spot for most disappointing release. Was it the lackluster roster? No. The visuals, of which parts of received such backlash, that Capcom actually had to fix? No. Other issues, like certain characters/techniques being overpowered at launch? Not really, either.
The reasons why Phil thinks Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite are bad are -
1. The game doesn't have proper "footies" and "spacing" like other fighting games, and is mostly about mix-ups.
2. The game focuses more on the flashy elements, and has long combos.
3. Certain big-name FGC players are dropping the game AKA the game is clearly shit.
Phil confirmed for not even knowing what Marvel vs. Capcom is about. It's always been a faster-paced fighting game full of longer, more stylish combos. Not every fighting game has to be fucking Super Turbo, Phil. You assclown.
And the reasons people are dropping MvC:I are because Street Fighter V is where the E-Sports money is at. Capcom are showing way more love to Street Fighter V than Infinite at the moment, so that means more people will be playing the game competitively, which means tournaments will have a bigger pot and there's more chance of people keeping/getting sponsorship deals if you're focusing on playing a game that's bringing in the money.
tldr - Phil doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about, and thinks every fighting game should be like the magical game he was once decent at.
