Autistic. I'm sure Martin knew he would always get a reaction from at least one sperg in the chat, and he would keep engaging with said sperg, egging them on. Then he'd run off and tweet about being bullied in chat, even though most people just ignored him.
Although, I will say, he would also comment on what was actually happening in the livestreams. I'm pretty sure Ethan said that Martin was a legit comics fan, and I believe that.

Watching some videos of this D&C dude, he seems to call 'milkshake girls' the girls who supposedly got hired in Marvel with no experience just for diversity hire. Maybe that's what the controversy is from?

Ahh, Comicsgate. I feel like Diversity & Comics has hit a kind of sweet spot for online spergery about silly things; he's kind of a dork, but he knows he's a dork, and it's hard to hate him. It's especially funny to contrast him with the people freaking out about him, since you literally have big-name industry professionals going "BAN THIS HATEFUL NAZI BIGOT HOMOPHOBE" and then you actually listen to the videos and realize they're all having heart attacks over a forty-year-old comics nerd with a stash of dad jokes.
As for the "milkshake girls"--don't quote me on this, but IIRC that controversy kicked off when Heather Antos posted a pic of herself drinking a milkshake and got a couple of "Shouldn't you be busy doing your job right now?"/"I'd hit it"-type comments. It became this huge thing where everyone was freaking out about sexism and harassment from comics fans, and a bunch of pros posted milkshake-drinking shots in support of the victim of this vicious trolling. D&C tends to use "milkshake girls" as shorthand for "underqualified hirees, usually assistant editors at Marvel, who don't do their jobs right (witness the amount of shit editing in current Marvel comics) and shouldn't be working there."

I applaud the fact that someone is speaking up against these horrid writers, artists, and editors. (I've noticed D&C's cough is getting better and Nerkish is pretty funny.) They disrespect the fans (see Audrey Sitterson), the characters (see Nazi-Cap and Spider-Man) and the industry as a whole.
I was going to suggest Sitterson, but since he's been fired, he's yet to make any big noise or go on to any new projects yet. So there's a chance he'll just move on.

Sitterson is next to be added, the only reason I didn't add him yet is that I was tired from having to do this all in one go.

They're such arrogant, insufferable pricks whenever they have any kind of position of power, however minor, that it makes their anguished screaming and shrieking when they get kicked out of it for their anti-social money-losing behavior a thing of beauty.

TLDR this thing can be summed up in much the same way as gamergate, magicTGgate, starwarsgate....fuck sake this shit is getting tedious.
A handful of annoyed neckbeards and spergs vocally dislike the way a cynically "woke-ified" media is run instead of just tuning out and letting it slowly decay into nothingness like the rest of the internet does, are declared literal nazis and literal rapists who pose a serious and genuine threat to the lives of all women/minorities in that media (unless enough people throw shekels at said women/minorities) by the workers and profiteers of said woke-ified media, who then spread the word to all their friends in various outlets, and a giant circlejerking campaign to "DEFY THE BIGOTS AND HARASSERS GUIZ!" is held by a bunch of little-big name media people in order to drum up flagging support from fans and to intimidate any other fan who might be considering openly criticising them with the threat of smearing them a nazi and that their "icons" will call them mean names.
And much like all the above fucking gates, this shit does nothing to change the inexorable decay and lingering death of that media, other than maybe somewhat hastening it (due to both more fans tuning out in disgust, and potential new fans put off by all the shit being thrown between both sides) and making the whole affair a heck of a lot more hilarious for us jews here on the farms

If I remember correctly, they took that picture and D&C made fun of them, they got mad, they said that he and his fans were harassing them, and one of them (Heather) doxed him shortly after.
It started out as a non issue until they found his personal info and started accusing him of being a nazi when he said he was in the same area as the unite the right protest accident.

Anyone remember how the Honey Badgers were kicked out of the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo for "disrupting" a panel, despite audio evidence to the contrary? It ties into Gamergate somewhat as the movement had a pulse then, but I see it as something of a precursor to Comicsgate because this social justice nonsense had already infected the cons.

I watched a couple of dcs vids. The key point is not the pandering. Its the fact the writing and everything else is shit. Shit marvel pandered to sjws before they even existed with the very creation of some of their iconic chatacters.

Hell, you could very well do a CW thread on a bunch of people and sites within the comics industry, like The Outhousers, Bleeding Cool, Rich Johnson, Gail Simone, Kieron Gillen, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Bryan Lee O'Malley, Scott Alie, John Byrne, Erik Larsen, Chuck Dixon, G. Willow Wilson, Robert Kirkman (who became the very thing he railed against when he went strictly creator-owned, the moment he founded Skybound), etc. Regardless of what "side" they fall on politically and whatnot, nearly everyone in the comics industry is a lolcow in varying degrees, even going way far back as the 90's and before then.
This kind of behavior is in no way endemic to just the last 10 years, not by any means. Even then, a lot of the earlier stuff has become hearsay as there was no such thing as Twitter back in the day, so there isn't a whole lot of proof to some of the more scandalous claims.
Strangely enough, outside of the whole Eddie Berganza fiasco, DC has largely tried to be "above it all" since Rebirth launched. Though given they also hired Mags Vissagio, well... we'll see.
