so i couldnt find it archived but when the episode was released, the article for USS Callister(a black mirror episode) had a vox article sourced about how the race of the antagonist was important to his character (he's white therefore racism)
it was removed rather quickly though and i know it exists because it's mentioned in the talk part of the article

The gender neutral term is author's darling. They all mean the same thing. Self-insert is similar, but self-inserts aren't necessarily darlings. A self-insert may still suffer the consequences of their actions and grow or change as a result. Darlings - Mary Sues and Gary Stus - get everything they want served on a silver platter and only suffer to earn sympathy points (or because the author has a fetish).
