Culture SJW Book Burners Target ‘MASH’, ‘Taxi’, ‘WKRP,’ ‘Cheers,’ Pepé Le Pew - Fuck thinking

From Breitbart....

"The New York Post’s Ruth Brown has declared a number of classic sitcoms, and one beloved cartoon character, problematic in this age of The New Enlightenment.Using words and phrases like “worst offenders,” “sexual predator,” “grossly inappropriate,” and “shouldn’t be shown to kids,” Brown has selected MASH, Taxi, Cheers, WKRP in Cincinnati, and even Pepé Le Pew for a little time in Room 101.Overall, though, what Brown and those she interviews (all one-sided) truly reveal is a lack of empathy, and a blindspot when it comes to the wonderful complexities of human nature, adult relationships, subtext, and humor."

I used to listen to room 101, and it's transformation was amazing. It started off as a comedy series about inflicting maximum damage on personal gripes by sending them to the infamous torture room from nineteen eighty-four, but now it's just a place to condemn thought crime. And it all happened unironically.

Edit: ok I read the article and now I'm confused, what does this have to do with room 101? Room 101 has absolutely gone downhill, but this appears to be about an article in the NYP, and the author threw room 101 in there for some reason? I guess what I'm saying is I should have read the article before shitting words out onto the internet.

This shit isn't funny. Once I was walking underneath a window that was being painted, and a can of white paint fell on me and painted a white stripe on my back. Next thing you know, I was being brutally raped by a cartoon skunk. I still tear up thinking about it.

#MeToo
Oh shit, that was you? Sorry I guess

To be fair those WKRPs where they replaced the music should be banned forever.

They did? I haven't seen the show in years. Do you mean the theme song? I think Howard Stern used a portion of the theme song for awhile. Unless that was someone else. But I think I remember it being Stern.

I remember hearing that the song for Bosom Buddies was also changed. But I never once heard the replacement on any run I saw and only recently heard that a change had been made. So maybe it was regional or the issue with the rights was sorted out after I saw the reruns.

I'm surprised Welcome Back Kotter hasn't gotten any similar issues with the iconic theme song.

What's wrong with MASH? Was it the fact that it takes place during the Korean war so poor POCs? Hot Lips Houlihan too thin and pretty? Klinger's cross dressing too triggering to troons?

I guess Taxi is a little too much for the average easily triggered snowflake. Look at Andy Kaufman making fun of immigrants! Louie De Palma is not a nice boss and he might hurt someone's feelings.:(

I guess Cheers is too sexist because Sam Malone is a lecherous playboy. Never mind that Carla doesn't take anything from anybody and always has a snappy comeback ready.

I saw these shows as a kid and I didn't end up warped because of inappropriate humor. A lot of stuff does fly over your head when you are young. Maybe hat's a little harder to do today. Kids see worse stuff on Youtube and parents give them free reign with that because it makes a great babysitter. I'd rather have kids see Cheers than creepy Finger Family videos.

In some scenes there would be music in the background because it's a radio station. Actual music by actual people.
In the DVD-era of stuff there were versions where they didn't pay the money for a new license for the new media, or old licenses fell off because of age or whatever. Quantum Leap has a similar issue.
So they went through and processed out the old music and overdubbed production music and it sounds about as terrible as you'd imagine.
These versions would show up in cable reruns afterward.

Good Lord, M*A*S*H? The show that was SJW before its time (as at least it concerned the Vietnam War even though it was the Korean War)? Alan Alda will have Ruth Brown's ass in a sling.
