Yeah but you could just...not live in a gated community

Oh I agree but it is money well spent to keep him protected. Also looks like he spent around 265k on the house in 2014. The home value in this community seems to have risen and he could actually sell the house and profit (hefty profit of easily $70k+) but of course he won't. He needs 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms all to himself. Cries all day about "being broke" when he could profit immensely from selling his house. Though I'm sure he does no upkeep and the house might need a lot of repairs.

I still dont know who would willingly submit themselves to an HoA unless they desperately had to. Those weirdass cliques run mostly by neurotics with far more power than they should ever have

It's a condo development so there has to be an association. Phil is more than happy to pay fees if it means never having to do yardwork. Remember, this is the guy that paid to have blinds installed in his house for him.

So I think I got a good peg on why Phil no longer enjoys or even dislikes playing games. The man, for last 3-5 years, has dropped all things but gaming. He has no social life, no hobbies, no activities, and even no job that takes him outside of this. So, for day in and day out all you do is play games, and play games, and play games. Not only is the redundancy of the activity ruining the experience, but the exposure really makes you start peeling back the meta of the activity. You stop looking at the images presented to you and eventually see the cycle of gameplay you're staring at for hours a day. Once you stop seeing the game, and just see the cycle of it, it really ruins playing a lot of games; add to the fact that is what you do all day and it's just a shit experience.

I've had three months where I had nothing to do but play games for the most part and it went from a fun experience to being utterly disappointing and dull.

If all you do is play games all day long, it's going to be a miserable life and explains so much into how miserable and whiny Phil is.

Gaming should never be a full time thing you do. Even game reviewers for magazines and websites, you see them get burned out more in their reviews. The most successful gaming Youtubers are the ones that branched out or the ones that kept their job and had their gaming channel as side revenue.

So I disappear for a day or two, and Phil has already moved onto Demon's Souls. Goddammit.

Also, it's funny how much he shits on Nintendo, but fails to see how similar he is to them. There's a lot of WiiU games being rereleased for the Nintendo Switch. Just like how he's redoing old playthroughs. But a key difference is, those WiiU games are actually good, and will remain good on the Switch. Unlike Phil's playthroughs, which were bad then, and even worse now.

LOL that's what you feel bad about missing? Have you checked the Vidar thread lately?

No, but now I think I might just. And tbh, it's mostly because I just learned that Phil's going to make another already shitty playthrough of a game I like even worse :feels: And that he's really pushing that redemption run nonsense into overdrive, given that he's literally just finished MGS2/MGS3.

the clip started playing while i was listening to safety dance and it was amazing

Living in a gated community probably means you have no choice in the matter. It was a brand new development back in 1999. $330 a month for HoA and taxes seem to be around $3200 (this is all public record info).
i'm rather curious as to what the area around phil is like? is there areas with grass, etc. i want to know what the HoA is paying for.

the only way to not get burned out on playing vidya is to just play what you want when you want. but phil decided not to do that, he's gotta get those day one views. he chose that path so i can't pity him.
