How many people here are going to go out of their way to try a freaking gate code? I think they typically have someone running security at the gates.

At least, the one I've been to did.

Let's just remember the pozload my negholep rules folks, no further discussion about trolling plans etc (at least that's the way I'm interpreting it)

(and if you're asking if the post will be deleted, fucked if I know, I never expected an escort coming on here in the first place, nor a 250 page discussion about NDAs, nor having to deal with some psychotic norwegian butler so I have no fucking clue what gate codes fall under. Pretty much every day on here some weird ass shit happens and I can't promise to be perfect)

We just have to call it something different like DSP does. Let's see his charity stream was called a fundraiser, so we can call this... Exploration! People are just exploring. Exploring roads, and streets, and sidewalks, and gates. EXPLORING!

(I do not condone the act of "Exploring" in any way shape or form).

Am I doing this right?

Based upon further reading I can't really find any legal precedent about the post (allegedly sharing gated community security codes) in question so I will allow it to remain.

I can see enough similar discussion on other forums as well: https://uberpeople.net/threads/gate-codes.72199/

My common sense dictates that a door security code is changed fairly often, shared among users and easily guessable/hackable. If someone were so inclined they'd just jump over the fence.

Also its allegedly a fucking 4 digit code:

Regardless, pozload my negholep rules still remain in effect. I'm not legally responsible for posts other people make on forums.

Phil's not the only one who lives in that community though. It is also illegal to publicly share those kind of codes. I kinda doubt it's legit, but I don't think its worth the chance. If there was a reason to keep it up I think it would be fine, but I don't see how it adds anything to the conversation.

I can't find any law stating that its illegal. Contact another mod if you disagree with my interpretation.

FWIW my understanding is that sharing a password alone isn't illegal unless it was obtained illegally. Usage of said password is probably illegal (as in actually punching it in). I'm not a lawyer and I'm not a policeman.

EDIT:
Also "password" and many of these laws only apply to internet-connected computers and since a gate isn't reasonably expected to be connected to the internet and is only accessible via physical presence it therefore even has less legal protections than any normal password (my understanding anyway)

Yeah no shit its illegal to put it in. And Phil would be just as at fault for sharing something so important to a service person so insignificant. But since its private property owned by the HOA it would to their discretion. I know most of us are intelligent enough to not do anything stupid like go to Phil's house. But not too long ago some idiots on this very forum hacked into his internet security for no reason other than :autism:. The motivation is there....

People could also order things sent to his house and use his passcode, I just don't think its worth the risk to the forum.

Yeah well maybe BSV shouldn't be sending threats to everyone, had I not had to put up with his shit I'd be a lot more stricter.

Anyway, that's my interpretation. You're free to contact another mod if you disagree.

I don't really 'get' gated communities but don't they generally have a guard who enters a code for you to enter, or you buzz an individual person and they can enter a code or they might even get an automatic text on their phone that they can just reply to. In either case how would knowing the code actually be useful unless you have direct access to some keypad, which, I feel like they wouldn't necessarily allow? Apart from that wouldn't it also make sense for them to have individualized codes rather than a standard entry code, some communities for instance have systems set up with delivery agencies where they have a particular code they use to enter which allows them to keep track of deliveries but would also probably let them hold companies liable if a former employee uses that exact code to break in or something.

So even if you have his actual literal code what are you gonna do with it besides probably just get arrested hobbling past the gate with your slicked hair and patchwork goatee. Also literally anyone could post four random digits and if someone tries it go 'oh I guess they changed it' (nothing personal towards mw)

No afaik a lot of gated communities only have a gate which you open either with a code or some sort of remote.

BSV is legit insane. I'm not trying to ruin any fun, I just don't know what it adds to the thread other than potential headaches.
