I just saw a post today that was talking about Bob's Burgers, and how it was "important" than Jimmy Jr. was revealed to be a jerk cause children need to see how to act etc etc...and then, you guessed it, author expressed hope that it'll lead to reveal of Tina as gay/bi. Lately I’ve seen posts from fans of Pixar’s newest film, Coco, who started shipping one of the female characters with an unrelated character who appears for all of 30 seconds. Following that, they decided all the characters are lesbians. Even the guys. Especially the major canon pairing, they insist the guy is a non binary lesbian so they won’t have to feel icky about enjoying a cishet relationship. Becaus that totally makes sense. Did I mention over half the cast is dead? Lesbian male skeletons. Incredible.

When I first encountered "X is a lesbian/gay." jokes on tumblr I thought it was a pretty cute gay joke among gay fans. Either to poke fun at the character, or just to "claim" them for the sake of trolling people.
Now there are entire blogs dedicated to picking out random characters and calling them lesbians and it comes off not as memes, but as if they think it's activism? I've seen these blogs argue against each other these head canons. They ruin the joke by taking it too seriously.
When you make a post like "Luigi's gay now, I don't make the rules. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)" You're suppose to laugh at people who rage at you, not get even more upset then them.

Tumblr headcannons EVERY group that isn't cis or straight or "neurotypical". I've seen so many ___characteroftheday blogs show up in some tags I track.

So stupid. In this case Camilla is Rosie's best friend and went to school with her and she's Rosie's biggest fan (Rosie is a singer) and has a fan club for Rosie. I see no romance in this. Just that she has a lot of emotions for her best friend and is passionate about supporting her. People on Tumblr are taking a friendship and shipping them and acting like they're in love romantically.
