I’ve seen this argument being used more and more, especially when OhNips drew her Dream Daddy genderbend art. Whoever said it was a slur first should really have a thread of their own because I’ve never seen a transgender person insultingly referred to as “genderbend” and besides that, it’s really stupid to even believe.

I want old fandom back. I mean, yeah, it was immature, and the flame wars were always present, but at least you'd just relax and have fun. Now you can't have fun bc "this is serious matter, this character represents X and if you don't like him you're racist, blah blah blah..."

I miss the cringey Tumblr stuff (Tumblr Prom, Mishapocalypse, If Tumblr were in high school, Superwholock) because as much as I hate it, it was more fun than Tumblr is now. Now everyone just gets angry at everything.
All of that was based on having fun, connecting with other people, and finding a community. People bonding over loving something rather than hating something. I'll take harmless fandom cringe over spiteful 14 year-olds running discourse blogs.

late but
seeing how well these people reacted to all the TAZ drama uuuhh yea I would prefer if they stayed out of my favorite hobbies too. I would hate it too if one of my hobbies became 'wow this is cool! why didn't I know about this earlier' to 'wow this game/activity is cancer' in the public eye. I mean I'm glad for those who are into DnD, all the new players must be nice! but I imagine as it becomes mainstream(esp since its becoming popular on tumblr) it'll be seen worse then it already was previously

It was just teen stupidity, and at that age you are free to be a littl squee dumb. Now these teens are being pushed and manipulated to aggressiviness by basement antisocial adults. It's very sad

I don't know how accurate the assumption is that adults are pulling any of the strings here, especially given the almost militant hatred towards adults shown by many of these teens. To me, it seems more like a bunch of dumbass kids finding other dumbass kids online, and becoming a big group of enablers for each other.
