Careercow Dan Harmon - Creator of Community, co-creator of Rick and Morty, and barely functional alcoholic

They're not dumb enough to kill their top earner because some moron got a case of the fee-fees
Wouldn't surprise me if Dan gets hit with another round of allegations either soon before or during the airing of the next season of R&M. In light of Harmon having already admitted to using his position to try and fuck a coworker, his whole "Oh we just happened to hire all women for the writers room for season 3, we didn't even notice we did that!" sounds more like BS than it already did.

Speaking of which, anyone know if Harmon's still with that turbo SJW chick from a few pages back? I wonder what she has to say about all this.

I quit following this thread a while back and holy shit did I come back to a lot!

Believe it or not, I actually still like Rick and Morty after all of this (though I will admit that the third season was pretty shit compared to the first two), so I will be truly upset if it ends up getting shitcanned over Harmon being a twat.

A good number of pages back, I'd said that the best thing to do would be to fire Harmon and get Roiland a new partner to work with and keep him reigned in. I still believe that, and honestly at this point feel that blacklisting Harmon completely would be the ideal decision to make. The dude’s a complete sack of shit who doesn’t deserve to work in the entertainment industry.

From what I've seen of Roiland is that his preferred modus operandi is mostly have a few beers, improv into a mic and throw everything he can think of at the wall and then see what sticks. Which works well in the short term since it results in tons of material in a short period of time that can be mixed and matched anywhere to make an episode, but not a great idea in the long term since his schtick can get stale and inaccessible without someone to go through the recordings and edit together Roiland's insane ramblings into something comprehensible - which is kinda where Harmon came in. Some of the best episodes of Rick and Morty were when they basically took Roiland's raw material in the recording studio and tried to write an episode around that.

But I think in the long term Harmon's problems are proving to be much more counter productive and insidious. Not only does Harmon's style of 3deep5u monologues and projecting his marital and personal drama onto the characters seriously clash with Roiland's improv humor that was such a huge part of the show's initial appeal - you can tell that Roiland's been pushed out of the actual writing/creative process just from how little the titular characters stutter in the most recent season - but between Harmon's history of creating toxic work environments and the massive delays with season 3 and apparently now season 4, Harmon's evidentally doing a lot more harm to the show and it's creative process than Rolland is.

I want to bet that s04 never makes it to being released due to all the sperging going on between coworkers and external drama like the accusations being thrown around. Sad shit!
Honestly with how hard Adult Swim has been milking this cash cow I suspect they'd sooner replace Harmon and Roiland if necessary than they'd ever dream of cancelling the show.

Its a goal
To touch a hole.

I mean they did push S04 of The Boondocks out without Aaron Mcgruder and we know how great that turned out.

I don't even know if they could fire Roiland considering he voices Rick, Morty, and a ton of minor characters. You'd have to recast the main duo, and at this point their voices are too recognizable to just switch to someone else.

Imagine if Mike Judge stopped voicing Beavis and Butt-head halfway through the show's run (it almost happened for the movie) or if Seth McFarlane stopped voicing half of Family Guy. The point is, Rick and Morty's voices are too tied to Justin Roiland, and if they fired him then the show's pretty much dead in the water.

Between the two, Harmon is more replaceable. All he's supposed to do is temper Roiland's insanity and lately he hasn't done a good job with that.

Also, he's the creator. You have to be john K's level of unbereable and creepy to be fired from the show you created.

He was literally kicked off Community for its fourth season by Sony
Harmon's only credited as co-creator for R&M in that Roiland credits him for fleshing out the general concepts and characters, but other than that Harmon himself didn't actually come up with concept and only voices Birdperson compared to Roiland often voicing half the cast any given episode.

So outside of the apparent Stockholm Syndrome everyone remotely aquainted with him somehow contracts, Harmon is pretty expendable.

I'd say they'd have a hard time outright firing him, but they could 'encourage' him to step down from his roles as writer/producer but stay on as voice actor, tossing him a line about how "the show needs a fresh perspective but it'll stay true to your vision if you're still with us".

Which, of course, would bite him in the ass as it did when MacFarlane stepped down from Family Guy (albeit that, iirc, was by choice): although the show's being spearheaded by someone else, the fans hear their voices and feel they still have the license to blame Roiland/MacFarlane personally every time an episode sucks.

What is it with Dan Harmon and him getting shitty by the 4th season of his creations?
Third, really. Third season of Community was very hit-or-miss for a lot of fans, including me; some episodes were brilliant (the CSI and timelines episodes) and some were... just OK. Similarly, season three's episodes of R&M was generally agreed to be much weaker compared to the previous two with some exceptions. If you're autistic enough you can find much more similarities between the shows. It's like pottery, I guess you could call it.

Maybe Dan Harmon has a terminal disease that causes him to fuck up everything after a certain amount of time.

How was he creepy? Just curious. Unbearable I get because he's a ruthless perfectionist who never gets shit done on time.
