"Does anyone else have anything to add about monster hunter?"

And then a bunch of long posts from his tumbleweeds about mhw.

It's almost as if it's a giant AAA release everyone is excited for, a game that appeals to the dark souls niche Phil has courted, AND is a jrpg which is by far the preferred genre of Phil's viewers every time he does a poll.

And instead of touching it and going through the low rank storyline (which is pretty short and straight forward) he refuses because he didn't immediately master the beta.

It's such a perfect example of Phil being Phil. He's so out of touch and stubborn.

Keep playing dbz for 200 viewers and hating yourself. At least with monhun it'd be quality salt.

Edit: Did Phil really turn down an opportunity to stream with Cryotic? Who's infinitely more popular than Phil last time I checked? Business Degree.

He'll play it in a month when everyones over it and onto the next game then complain about low viewers.

Phil complaining about in-match lag makes me laugh. I have an Indian friend who is not only super into fighting games but also mostly has friends in the States he plays with. His comments about FighterZ include that it's some of the best netcode he's ever seen in a match.

I love how he just hand waves away the Monster Hunter talk. Is he fucking serious. I've beaten the campaign and done a shitload of co-op and that game has the potential to be some of Phil's best rage of 2018 while also dragging in people who are on the MH-Hype Train for now. It is clear that he has no interest in expanding his channel. If he did he would have been a part of the wave that has hooked people for the last week: as of right now, in the deadass morning in The 'Muricas, MHW is the 2nd most streamed game. However nope, he only listens to a few of his "paypigs" (as I've seen them called) because realistically that is who he is whoring himself for. There is no good reason for him to skip this massive game other than being worried that his usual handful of "donors" wont show up.

. . .and then there is the Multiplayer Potential here with his fans that he is missing. He could dedicate a day a month to attempting some of these challenge missions/high level hunts with his fans and everyone in chat cheering them on. Nope. Two people said it was boring.

The mind boggles at this business acumen on display. . .and I didn't see his response:

I've seen Tolo and others play the game, it looks boring as hell. Requires tons of time investment to learn and get good at, with no real reward. Story is awful, just a facade covering a 100 hour grind of the same shit over and over. And the co-op is a chore to set up and get working on top of all that, and the #1 complaint of most people playing the game right now.

He is forcing reality into existence so hard here. He knows he missed out on the Day 1's, so now he's trying to justify skipping the game. Like nothing in this comment is true: from Great Jagras to End Game Boss, there is nothing in the actual campaign that is repeated. The entire point is that you fight progressively more difficult monsters, just like some other game that Phil has now played like 10 or so times for dem views.

The guy is so full of shit he could claim to be a mulatto. I mean I'm all for opinions and everything but to just toss out "the game looks boring" based on some guys videos (wait I thought he didn't watch other streamers) is insane. Confirmation bias at it's worst.

One other thing, since Phil's bitching about Youtube. According to SocialBlade, he had ~21.7M views on dspgaming last year. At an effective CPM range of $0.50-$1 (to account for demonitized and adblocked views), that would be another $11000-$22000 on top of the twitch and patreon money. So his yearly total, if everything stays roughly the same, would be more like $118k-$128.5k.

Yep he did. He was scared Cryotic's fanbase would make fun of him lol

>Is the punchline of the bad gamer meme
>Afraid of getting shit on by even more gamer losers

At his level of failness at youtube and life in general, getting dumped on by a bunch of gamers really isn't drastic. He would at least get marketing from a bigger channel.

The hype for MHW will never be the same like day 1 and forth. However there could be a second [smaller] one when the PC version is released in autumn. But when this happens there won't be many surprises anymore. So the second coming could just be a wet fart. All in all, DSP missed a big opportunity.
Sure, I don't want to see Phil play this game because I love Monster Hunter in general. And he will shit all over the game. But from the perspective of money-making he made a really stupid decision. Big scale. Not as big as shitting all over his fans 24/7, but still.

To summarise, regarding Monster Hunter and the opportunity it presented Phil: Detractors didn't screw Phil, Phil screwed Phil.

Imagine knocking back working with someone with a massive audience, what sort of idiotic decision was that for a streamer trying to re-establish themselves on Twitch? Fucking window-licker.

I think it will have gas at least through February. In terms of games, what else is coming out? Shadow of the Collosus which might be fun for the lulz, assuming he doesn't remember the game (if he ever played it)? Metal Gear? There's the Skyrim in the real world looking Kingdom Come but I guarantee he's not going to be into that game since it's too real (hunting Monsters is boring, his chat will think this is up there with watching paint dry).

I mean he could have ignored this guys stream chat, just focused on his and two-manned the game together. The co-op requirements are literally, "Wait for the other person to initiate 'Hunt Mode'." They could have taken turns on who starts the quests and left it at that.

. . .and with the story only being like 15Hours tops if that's all you do (nowhere close to his 100Hours asspull), he could have been done with it and fought some pretty epic bosses. There's tons of post-story content available for him and his dedicated chat to tackle after that. And while I agree that quality is subjective, that anyone can look at some of the monster hunts and write them off as "boring" is crazy.

With cucks like ThatDogGuy Phil gets the negative confirmation he needs to justify his poor business decisions. MH World would have been a sure-fire hit for his views but he refuses to, instead we get more of the same lame Fighting game rage and John behaviour he has shown for so many fighting games in the last couple of years (except for Blazblue which he avoids like the plague).

He plays so many games yet avoids some of the best ones because he thinks he as a special snowflake is above any hype, only to play those games months later when it's been streamed to death. If it would have been a Nintendo version of Monster Hunter with Mario or Link he'd jump right on it despite Nintendo's youtube policy. But instead he shows his cucks "who's boss" and ignores MH World.

Ever since Phil has been trash at fighting games- albeit he was decent in 2008 lets give him that; he has complained about every single game that has come out in the genre. Even Super Turbo is shit now because 'online lag'. Fighting games will never meet his expectations ever again unless he only plays the CPU for his brain dead audience.

We all know he's not going to get better, its a symptom of his personality, he cannot better himself because he refuses to identify his own shortcomings.

Here's the thing--with a standard deduction and that $103,000 or so in income, he will owe ~$20,000 in federal taxes and something like $1500 in B&O tax to Washington state, which would put his take-home somewhere around $75,000. Now, is he able to deduct more by itemizing? Probably, especially if he's counting his internet and printer ink and shit like that. Still, it gives some interesting insight into how he could be making around 6 figures and legitimately be in dire financial straits due to his breathtakingly bad decisions.

Keep in mind if he makes $100K profit this year he's only taxed on a maximum of $68K because 20% of his self-employment profit as a pass-through business (sole proprietor) are deducted starting this year due to new policy and the standard deduction for a single filer is $12K now for the same reason. He should be able to itemize and deduct are his mortgage interest (ballpark that at $18000 a year for the two mortgages combined at this point in his amortization- but this assumes a standard interest rate for his first condo and allegedly he's got a super low rate on it so it'd be less in reality) and student loans (a maximum of $2500 a year if he's even eligible) to get up to like $20.5K deducted instead of $12K.

He'll pay more than that. He isn't a waged W2 worker. He has to pay self-employment tax which is going to be another ~$15k on top of it all.

No. Self-employment tax is only an additional 6.2% it doesn't double a person's tax liability.

His long time viewers are too stupid to piece together the fact that he makes same complaints on every fighting game he plays. He complains about lag and not being able to block or dropped inputs. You’d think by now they would tell him that the issue is on his end with his garbage “business class” internet. You seriously can’t have the same exact issues with every game you play and not realize something has to be wrong with your own connection.

I thought the internet was better in Washington, that’s what he always says.

Or it could be, y'know lack of skill and aging reflexes.

"I wasn't doing anything, and he got a free cahmbo."

No shit, Sherlock. If you don't do anything, you get hit.

Yup. Even when I go back to a game I used to compete in tournaments in.
It really takes a while before you get anywhere close to where you once were.

Also Dave has another problem. The competition for fighting games has actually increased. Due to the internet. And bigger sales. So although he might have been okay back in the day. He may be at the same skill level.

But others have caught up, and ovetaken him.

Much like his YOuTUbe channel.

He's clearly playing the exact same users in each game. Clearly.
