Because of the Patreon, he has no real incentive to actually develop a game, or get a job.
That's not to say that his programming "skills" make him employable or anything like that.

Not gonna lie, I'd totally play a modern game set in a depiction of America written by a group of terminally out of touch Japanese people. I don't think I've ever seen that setup not turn out great.
This is one of the most nonsensical bugfixes I've ever seen, holy shit. This is the sort of thing where you stop the entire project and figure out how the hell your structure could possibly be bad enough to allow it to happen. I can't even come up with the foggiest idea of how this could happen aside from the bush blocking line-of-sight at some point.

I do like to see a game set in America where the males are either Captain America or Jersey Shore type and all the women are basically Paris Hilton.
You know what's pretty funny about all of this? The thing that Mike Z said about his spaghetti code. It might seem okay now, but it will cause problems later on? Guess what's happening now. You should've listened to your senpai. I wonder how many of his bug fixes are simply band aid solutions as opposed to removing the cause of the problem.

Wasn't he around college age when he made those ten year old posts? I can't quite remember, but if it was some dumb teen growing into adult hood I'm sure stupid comments could be overlooked so long as the person actually grew out of those views eventually. The problem is, Alex never did. He stayed the same and never learned from it, that is the problem. Had he developed as a person it would just be cringey and we'd probably just laugh and move on, but since he's stayed the same they are very telling.
The dude's barely interacted with others (home schooled), he never goes outside (streaming shit after he "works", wouldn't you want to give the eyes a break and move around at least a little?), he has no friends, and he still lives with Mommy and Daddy. How is he any different than he was 10 years ago, other than gaining a following?
It's fair game imo

So basically he says that people shouldn’t focus on his past posts as he was a different person back then with a different attitude and personality. Okay, but he also completely misses the other part of the video, which is his present day game and how shit he is at coding and how terrible he is as a businessman. I get that he skipped a lot of the video, but how would he justify that then? Also lol, “him walking into a noose encourages suicide,” nigga, for one, it’s a joke, and two, that’s about as threatening as a YouTube commenter saying “kys” constantly, get a grip.

How 2 Implement Original YS Characters

1. Find anime character trope and speculate about how you can include a person like that in the game.
2. Debate on whether or not adding in another character is more important than Osana.
3. Decide to add them anyways.
4. Spend about 10 minutes thinking about the character's design, personality, etc. Most of the work has been already done for you, seeing how there are about 500 other characters who are exactly like yours.
5. Use Google Translate and input something about the character.
6. Go to http://tangorin.com/names/ and find ways to make your poorly translated name "legitimate".
7. Realize that your most important characters have the stupidest names ever.
8. Ignore that and move on.
9. Ask unpaid volunteers to model and draw your character.
10. Receive assets a few weeks later. You don't exactly have many volunteers left, and you aren't going to pay people for models and artwork because -insert transparency post-
11. "Program" and implement your character into the game. If you really, really like the character, make them super overpowered and hard to kill by giving them pepper spray or something. If you don't like them that much, don't bother.
12. Use your original character as a template to create four other characters, which are almost identical to your original character. Change small, minor things about the four new characters so it looks like you put in effort. These minor things range from the color of their hair to their small accessories. Maybe change their personalities a bit too, but you can ONLY use anime tropes for their personalities!
13. Spoil the characters in a Reddit post in an attempt to keep fans interested in the game.
14. Spend two days making a video about your new characters so you don't have to work on the game. Release the build with the video.
15. Spend two weeks answering vapid, speculative questions about your characters on Reddit. These questions range from what your characters eat for breakfast and what their favorite game is.
16. Watch as the hype dies down. Repeat cycle.
Results: You get 10 original characters for the price of two!

No, that would take time out of his streaming schedule. Also because Alex is terrible at everything he attempts to do.
The volunteers are essentially his crutch for everything besides "programming" or as I like to think of it, banging his head on the keyboard and hoping the end result compiles.

In the video Rommel said that while usually it isn't fair to focus on Alex's past as people change over time, there's a reason he chose to do so. Alex never changed at all, he just put on a different persona. His shitty personality is one of the reasons why YS ended up the way it is now.
