Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Since we're talking about unpopular Zelda opinions, Skyward Sword is a terrible game that tries too hard to please both the toon (Wind Waker) and dark (Twilight Princess) camps of the fandom, ending in a game that's good for neither side.
That's without getting into the fact that the 98% of the game involves going on fetch quests in the same damn places (all three of them!) on repeat, complete with those fucking horrible motion controls that make the game borderline unplayable (fuck that harp shit).
God, I hate that game.

the original nier is better than automata (although they could both do without the weeb shit, but that's a yoko taro staple)

max payne 3 wasn't as good as the first two

bioshock infinite is extremely overrated

dark souls 3 wasn't that great

I don't know how people aren't more hyped. Who hasn't dreamed of shooting religious cultists in the face?

I don't even get what people are sperging out about. You're a police officer fighting a doomsday cult and your allies are a blue collar worker, a small business owner, and a priest. Doesn't sound anti-right wing to me, but people are REEEEing like it's a game where you play as a transgender woman's studies major gunning down people in MAGA hats. Anyone who watches the trailer should be able to figure out that the enemies are based on Heaven's Gate/Peoples Temple/etc, not regular ol' religious 'muricans.

So thanks to a Steam sale I've had KOTOR 1 and 2 on my PC for a rather significant amount of time now. So I recently decided to bite the bullet and start playing and...I really don't know how to feel about KOTOR at the moment. I don't dislike it and regularly go back to it and play through small chunks at a time. But at the same time it just hasn't really grabbed me and given me the motivation to really dive into the it. I'm still on Taris at the moment, i.e really early in the game, so I'm reserving my judgment till I get further in. In case you're wondering yes I do have Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 but due my own unique brand of gaming related :autism: I'm trying to go through KOTOR first before jumping into Mass Effect.
Also Bioshock 2 is best Bioshock. Bioshock Infinite is weakest Bioshock.

KOTOR 1 is corny, hokey garbage in the story department, which makes it very accurate to Star Wars, and neutered 3E D&D in the gameplay department. Which makes it kinda dull to actually play.

KOTOR 2 at least pokes at a lot of Star Wars' hallowed tropes.

They're just like SJWs, they don't bother to do any research and probably weren't intending to buy it in the first place.

It's part of their persecution complex. "This game is about gun nut weirdos in the woods, clearly it's about fighting teh Drumpf patriarchy and alt right gamers like meeeeeee". Granted, given some of the gaming "journalism" I read about it, there's plenty of SJWs who also think this is the case.

Like, anyone with knowledge of history knows this subject matter of this game has roots way older than GamerGate and the 2016 election.

people still bitching and moaning how HL3 should be made, even though sensible people moved the fuck on, is borderline exceptional and should be laughed at
Are people still expecting it to get made? I'm pretty sure after episode 3's plot got out that it was clear that Valve didn't care any more.

For me, Mass Effect 1 is essentially KOTOR 1 but better.
More or less. I think the added action and the fact that they weren't constrained by LucasArts' meddling helped things immensely.

Buying a strategy guide is like buying porn--you can get it on the internet for free, and the internet version is generally better.
Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of Web 2.0, physical strategy guides often contained some useful or interesting supplemental material. I remember a lot had developer interviews and concept art, a Duke Nukem 3D guide had a lot of info about making custom maps, and Shadows of the Empire had detailed maps of where the challenge coins were.

This was back when most of them cost $12 at Best Buy and didn't come in "Special Editions" in hardcover for $40. Incidentally, porn was more reliably purchased on physical media in a retail setting at the time, too.

speaking of kotor, i imagined hk 47 saying this

I loved Nier Automata, but the game's plot and themes are not nearly as deep as they pretend to be. Yoko Taro's at his best when he's deconstructing gaming conventions and building on character archetypes. An existentialist sci-fi story where all the villains are named after philosophers (or Biblical figures) and the heroes are constantly screaming about what it means to be human? Ehhhh.

9S was best bot tho.

That entire sequence with the robo-baby mass suicide was so over the top that I honestly thought it was being played for laughs at first.

Every sequel to Dark Souls fails to live up to it in such a spectacular way that I wish they'd never been made at all.
They invalidated the original ending (the true ending) by retconning it out of existence, the second game should have been set after the end of the age of fire or it shouldn't have been made at all. Unfortunately the series prints money so all they have to do is remake the same game over and over while ruining what made Demon's Souls and Dark Souls unique in the first place by "streamlining" the game to cater to faggots who want every boss to be Ornstein and Smough or Artorias, and is obsessed with "honorable dueling," the kind of idiot that runs a "fight club" in a popular invasion area and ganks you if you don't want to wait in line for 10 minutes before trying to actually play the game. Multiplayer was about fucking people over, having fun being the bad guy, but it was also exhilirating to come up against a human foe who was most likely way more dangerous than you.
I want to believe they will fix some of the problems of the first game (lost izalith lol) in the remastered version that's coming out but at this point I sincerely doubt they have the balls to make any significant changes to the game other than just jacking up the number of phantoms you can have in a session at once. (puke)

The OG Deus Ex is overrated and is too big for its britches.

Dark Souls isn't hard.

Nioh > Dark Souls.

The Nintendo Gamecube should be classified as a weapon.

Half Life 2 ain't all that.

Old NES games suck ass and I'm glad we're past that era of gaming.

Watchdogs 1 is a good game, especially for the minigames.

EDIT:

I got a few more.

Turn based RPGs suck because they are too time consuming. Real time RPG are objectively better.

America's Army Proving Grounds blows both CS:S and CS:GO out of the water. It's also the best and truest F2P game available ATM.

Sore winners are worse than sore losers.

Most open world games are not free enough and suffer from it.

The lore in MGS games is excessive.

I avoid people who play Sims games because I believe them to be control freaks.

eSports were a mistake.

Far Cry 2 is the best Far Cry despite 3 being the perfect Far Cry if that makes any sense.

america's army proving grounds?

It's a free team based fps game for PC and PS4, dunno about other platforms. It's bare bones as hell, but I found it to be far more enjoyable than most multiplayer fps games. It's very similar to Counter Strike. No microtransaction, lootboxes, pay-to-win or DLC (except enlistment, it is US army propaganda anyway)
