Can't wait til Phil starts shilling his real adult live in girlfriend and his fans react the same way they did to Leanna and he's forced to ban more paypigs.

I know I'm probably being :dumb: here but what makes people think Phil did pay for the chair? I read the affiliate terms on that screengrab a few pages back but don't see why that made people think he bought the chair.

:dumb: ratings welcome as I'm probably missing something obvious or misreading the text somehow

It's a meme. But really the affiliate 'program' he mentioned was a blanket piece of text saying they'll give affiliate links if asked and you'll get a standard kickback.

The OPSEAT similar info was more specific that they chose partners and mentioned the free chair specifically which Spawn did not.

It's just as likely he got the seat as paid for it except the timing of getting shit canned to having a free chair lines up with him buying one next day as opposed to working out an actual agreement.

So it's unlikely he had any kind of contract.

Phil will always do the bare minimum amount of research, if any. This is the guy who is so fucking lazy he hired someone to hang a blind in a window, had his dad hang pictures and paint a room, and used a handcart to move a 50 pound box into his house. I guarantee that before he moved to Washington, he googled states without income tax and Washington was one of the states that popped up. He didn’t bother doing anymore research into any other tax codes that could impact him. I personally believed he did get hit with back taxes last year. I also believe he panicked and thought it would amount to basically the same as the income taxes in Connecticut (~$20,000). That’s why he thought he was going to lose the house. In reality, it was significantly less and they put him on a payment plan. Of course he’s never going to disclose just how much he wound up paying because the #SaveTheHouse Pity Party netted him nearly $10,000.

Same thing with SpawnSeats, he didn’t do any real research. No doubt, he saw their twitter and went to their website, thought it looked professional enough, and just assumed they had factory in Knoxville where they were producing the chairs from scratch.

A good indicator: he never referred to this one as a free chair, unlike the OPseat.

Their website was literally a form website you can purchase as a store front.

So, two almost back-to-back scams have been unveiled, thanks to Phil and his negative presence on the internet.

Is it just me, or is Phil pretty much that one villain who unintentionally makes the world a better place by fucking over other shady individuals and criminals? He's like the Anti-hero of the internet, who leaves a trail of death and destruction in his wake for other villains that dare get involved with him, yet provides amazingly funny shenanigans for everyone else who just watches.

I doubt a brand new company run by two television repairmen is making enough money to give free chairs to random streamers. They didn't even pay to have a custom logo put on the pillow.

More than likely Phil searched for a cheap chair the day after he got dropped by OPSeats and saw a deal that if you buy a chair from our new company we'll give you a code where if your viewers buy a chair you'll get a kickback. This equals sponsorship to Phil. Like how lootcrate "sponsored" him.

Other bigger companies may give out free merchandise to people that get views on twitch because they can afford to lose one chair to potentially sell more. OPSeats was made aware that giving Phil a chair would bring in no business and give them a bad reputation for supporting DSP. Logical move for them. Why lose $60 to get shit on?

Spawn seats packed up shop overnight. It obviously wasn't making boatloads of money. I doubt they had a warehouse full of chairs and were giving them out like candy. They allegedly knew what happens when you associate with Phil. Would an upstart company with limited funds literally waste their time and money this way? Not likely unless they went to the same business school as Phil.

But stranger things have happened and maybe the owner really was a DSP fanboy and gave him a pity chair being fully aware of the backlash his company would receive.

No doubt, that's exactly what he did. Which is why whenever he attempts to give details surrounding this alleged "business" none of it makes any sense. Apparently everything is a business expense, so it can be written off the taxes he pays; but then he's filing personal income taxes, so there are no taxes on his income in Washington (because he's not running a business guys, it's just YT videos); but now it's actually a business, and now I owe back taxes because my tax attorney lied to me. He can't keep the fucking story straight.

They don't run a TV repair business afaik, that's just some random business listing website (which aren't that accurate).

They ran a moderately successful YouTube partnership service as well as have their own YouTube channels. They also run an automotive YouTube channel and have their own websites/blogs/channels about making your own referral-based business. Supposedly they own nice cars, and have some decent luxuries in life (according to da instagrams)

I agree that they probably didn't have warehouses full of chairs, but I give it 99% probability they threw a free $100 chair at DSP for the free advertising. It's really not that big of an expense if you're aiming to start selling chairs and its the same thing all the "gaming chair" companies do.

It's the same thing shit like "Tupperware" did in the 1970s, its really not that novel or surprising of a concept. Its the same shit luxury brands do with goody bags at the oscars (they basically hand out free ridiculously priced shit to celebrities because they know it'll get media coverage by being in the bag, then it'll get media coverage if they ever post a single thing about it on their Twitter or whatever).

And with how salty he was about not getting his chair from OPSeat, it's especially not hard to believe. I think that's what he cared about the most, and they obviously slipped in to take advantage of that.

Wouldn't doubt they didn't have any chairs either (or even that they were running a legitimate business at all). You're telling me this is a start-up and even your first line of product doesn't have the company name or logo on it? Fam pls.

afaik it doesn't even have to be a "legitimate business" depending on the state. They probably have to declare sales (which is easy if you use accounting software and are anyone on earth besides DSP) for tax purposes but that doesn't mean they have to do anything more than that.

He said he paid it weeks ago and that he would NEVER disclose how much he owed.
Missed that one, but no surprise he wouldn't disclose how much it was, not want people to ask what he did with all the thousands of dollars he got and didnt need!

I should have rephrased. Not "legitimate" in the legal sense, but legitimate as "in not shady as hell". It's clear they're not even selling products that are at least unique to their company. Even DSP's teespring could be considered more of a valid business than SpawnSeats.

Yeah the idea of giving out a promotional product as part of an affiliate scheme, the whole point of which is branding, and not slapping a logo all over that shit is either very dumb or very shady. The fact the only logo on there was from another company, when you're explicitly selling it as your own chair, is fucking ridiculous. They probably thought it was easy money, but picked the wrong streamer to hitch their wagon to. Maybe they should've sent it to Spoony instead. You know that fucker wouldn't bother to take a photo exposing how terrible your chairs are.

He didn´t, but when the company went down he gloated, happily, that ´I still have the chair´, so it was probably no loss to him.

That’s him saving face. He will never admit he bought the chair. He concocted this scheme as a way to boost his ego like “yea my shit reputation fucked me on the last sponsorship but look at my shiny new one!”

Fast forward a few hours and his shit reputation literally put this company out of business.
