Social Justice Warriors - Now With Less Feminism Sperging

Tyler Perry worked his way up from theater in the 90s to become a major force in modern African American entertainment. He has a dedicated audience and a net worth of $600 million.

If anything, shouldn't these people be championing him? He's a great example of what they ought to be aiming for; entertainment made by and representing the African-American community that affirms and celebrates their values.

But he doesn't make superhero movies, so he's irrelevant in this discussion, I guess.

Yeah, Tyler Perry basically makes movies for an African American audience but also has cross-cultural appeal. I know people who like his movies because they put a focus on family and faith and a positive message.

The thing is, time and time and time again, all progtards care about is pop-culture. How is representation in a superhero movie that is basically a corporate product and fiction going to help improve anybodies station or oppression? It won't.

There's actual slavery of Africans going on right this second in Libya but they only seem to give a shit about ticking off diversity boxes. Progressive ideology is shallow and narcissistic. The issues it focuses on are patently useless. Representation in pop culture is insignificant in oppression, improving quality of life and helping people.

Many African Americans live in poverty, face health issues, and have all sorts of actual problems. Yet they celebrate Black Panther and say that their work is done. Its one of the most empty, pathetic ideologies I have witnessed by middle-class progtards who stay far away from the people they claim to care about. It is disgusting.

Do we have a thread on GoodReads or anything? I checked the I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream page and found this.

What annoys me about this is that the story is undeniably misogynistic, with its sole female character basically being a sex toy, but I'm pretty sure Ellison wrote it specifically to be disturbing. The whole story is supposed to be intense and uncomfortable, and considering that this person feels offended by it, then yes it succeeds. Now it doesn't mean you have to like it, but if you're reading a story called I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, then you better know what you're getting in to. The fact that the reviewer is trans also says everything.

Sad part is that there's a couple other reviews like it.
Kinda :late: I know, but I can't help but notice that this reviewer is omitting several crucial details to the story that are kind of fucking important.

See, IHNMAIMS (the book version at least) takes place entirely from the point of view of a character named Ted, who claims to be the only one unchanged by the supercompute it's torture. But it becomes more apparent over the course of the story that Ted is unreliable as a narrator as the paranoid delusions being fed into his brain that everyone is out to get him, secretly hates him, that the other survivors are weak/pathetic (including Ellen, who he projects his crush and feelings of inadequacy onto in the form of victim blaming) for giving in, except for Ted. But he's never written in a way that makes it seem as though Ted is correct, but rather as cues to the reader that Ted's "everyone is crazy but me" is inaccurate and make the reader uncomfortable as a result. It's why at the end it's a huge development that Ted, realizing that he's losing his humanity, elects to mercy kill the others - including the girl Ellen - essentially using his last moments of clarity to resist the paranoia plaguing him and sacrifice himself for the others. Which is pretty much the central moral/theme of the story.

And the game, which is a loose adaptation where the characters are tasked with overcoming past sins and fears, portrays Ellen as very sympathetic in that her puzzle quest is about facing her trauma about having been brutally raped in an elevator, and the guilt she felt about keeping quiet about what happened when she discovered her rapist went on to assault more women in that time, which the supercomputer preys on. Hell, the good ending to her quest is that she confronts the replicated version of her rapist the supercomputer constructs to torture her and successfully fights him off.

But no clearly because an unreliable protagonist and an antagonist doomsday computer said it clearly that's what the author must think.

EDIT: Mis-remembered the main character's name. It's Ted, not Tim.

New game: Every time someone tries to do this, smack them over the head with a beginner's biology textbook.

I don't know, if I were Polynesian, I'd want to be separate from these dumb fucks. A lot of so-called "poly" people are some of the smuggest, most self-righteous pricks I've ever come across.

Yeah, but Tyler Perry promotes gay propaganda and is part of the white devil's plan to destroy black masculinity and the black family.

So much for the "minorities can't be bigots!" bullshit. (That's one thing that kills me. Even supposing you can't be racist against white people or whatever, it's still possible to be bigotted against other minorities)

The whole "poly" Polynesian thing just sounds like more of the usual white tumblrinas getting offended on behalf of their precious PoCs again.

Reminds me of one I saw years ago who was wanting to ban the term "spic and span" because she felt it could be used as an insult to couples where one partner is Mexican and the other Spanish. Since when is "Span" a slur anyway?

I love how all these triggered white girls are there to speak for minorities.

Ngl, I would love to see a couple named that in a TV show like South Park. Either that or the name of a superhero duo. That would be kinda amusing.

Yes, because threatening assault is a perfectly reasonable reaction to something you could have responded to with "no, sorry".

& note how the only description given is that it was a white woman... no note if she was disabled, elderly, pregnant etc... all legitimate reasons to ask someone for a seat ...

This definitely did not happen. These Black Twitter Allstars know exactly what it takes to get thousands of retweets/likes from their own community and resort to telling these fairytales whenever they feel the need for attention whoring. All the ingredients for an SWJ love fest are here.
