So the guy who got popular by covering Chris-chan is now ranting about ableism and other societal ills and how mean some internet meanies can be? God, his balls must've fallen off so hard it left him shell-shocked and unable to comprehend his hypocrisy.

I noticed in his Sonichu reviews that he kinda jumped back and forth between A-Logging and White Knighting - during Chris's less-PC moments in the comic he would throw stones from his glass house about what a despicable human being he was for being (insert SJW-buzzword-insult here) (he went on a really long and stupid rant about how unfeminist the "stripping for women's rights" scene is, even though there is a sect of feminism that believes stripping is empowering or at least empowering in some contexts), but at other times he was really white-knighty, mostly whenever autism came up.

I think that's why he had such a gripe with Alec. As evidenced by his shutting down of comments, he doesn't like receiving criticism. He also seems to have some of that identity politics mindset that all members of the group agree on everything, so he assumes Chris, since they're both autistic, agrees with him. The idea of someone giving such a hard-hitting criticism as Asperchu struck a chord with him since that'd be something he would absolutely despise.

I imagine if I made a comic criticizing DStecks, I'd also get the chair.

This is a tiny bit sad because there was a point wherein his videos were entertaining. I think maybe the first few? After that they kinda fell off though, because yeah like @Salt Water Taffy said the dude couldn't seem to decide on how he wanted to approach Chris.

Damn shame he's trying to suck up to his betters in an attempt to have a "career" though.

Haaah, well might as well get this out of the way...

Waaaay back when in the Year of our Lord 2014, as some of you Farm vets may recall, DStecks was working on his Sonichu Reviews. He had done most of the book prior and had garnered a bit of a cult following. Myself, thinking this would give me some extra practice- plus back then I honestly had dreams and aspirations of making TRS a big thing, I contacted DStecks about doing the thumbnails for his videos. He was ecstatic about it.

And then (break out the spooky jangle chains) GaaaaaaAAAAAAMErrrgate happened. By this point, DStecks had already put months of work into his final leg of his Sonichu reviews, the "Sonichu After Dark" series, so he was pretty adamant on getting it done, although the tolls of internet dickslappery had gotten to him and you could tell by the end of his videos he didn't care about Sonichu anymore, or rather, he had a change of heart and decided, again because of Gamerga- wait sorry- GaaaaAAAAAmERrrrrrGaaaaaaate, that he could no longer support internet bullying and he couldn't do this anymore, etc. etc.

And thus, DStecks decided to give Chris $1,000+ for two reasons. First, as Dstecks stated, he then "ethtically" couldn't review any further Sonichu comics since he financed them (again GaaaAAA-okay, joke is done). Second, he felt that this move might absolve him of his past dispersions about Chris' creations.

Now, back to me, DStecks and I had a completely business relationship. I don't have any super secret knowledge about him, nor am I going to start mining him for details. All I do now is this: back when I started he told me he was going to pay me for my work. And to this day, I have not received one red cent from the guy. As it is, it's been 2-3 years now and I've moved on, but just goes to show: never do any work for anyone unless you have a written agreement for payment.

That's funny, one of the few good things I was going to say about those videos is "whoever does the art for the thumbnails is really good" (I didn't recognize it was you). Keep up the good work with TRS, by the way!

I don't think I ever knew any of this was going on. I didn't follow him at all, I just knew he gave Chris $1000 and possibly a rimjob to be an epic ween. I didn't know he held a particular enmity for me but what you describe sounds perfectly logical, these are the sort of people who wouldn't like the lack of pulled punches in my writing. I'm getting a clearer picture of the guy now that there's a thread.

I'm sure he really wouldn't like me if he knew I not only don't have Trump Derangement Syndrome, but that I actually like some of the things Trump has done. Maybe I should do a sequel comic but instead of Chris, just make it about the pearlclutchers at large and see what he thinks. The nature of today's politically oriented rat kings makes it seem almost quaint to think that I once was able to draw a comic that stuck to only one particular autist.

I feel sort of sorry for the guy. He does appear to have some deep-seated guilt issues re his sporking of Sonichu, apparently related to how he sent a weird guy in his drama class to Coventry - said guy subsequently died very young of some kind of illness. And I did find his reviews funny and comprehensive.

But yeah, paying a grand to Chris and expecting any kind of real return on the investment was always going to be a bit of a dumb move. Ah well, at least he has a signed photo and a full set of Amiibos to console him.

Chris did, in Sonichu 10, allude to the idea that he thought of stopping the comic after book 3. He just writes whenever he feels like it and he feels like someone else will get something out of writing (ie. money or china). He stopped writing the comic because the steady stream of girlfriends dried up after Jackie and he started writing again when he discovered Patreon.

If anything, you and the rest of the Asperpedia Four gave him more reason to produce content since your feud fueled much of Sonichu 10. When the feud dried up and nothing new came in to replace it he stopped writing.

Addendum: As of about half-way through Sonichu 12, Chris has officially fulfilled DStecks' donation requirement of 100 new pages. This was the 100th page made after the donation.

Speak of the devil. I just mentioned him in a post and here I go, I didn't know there's a thread now.
What can I say? DStecks is completely unremarkable as a supposed lolcow and an SJW. This however just further highlights how all-consuming SJWism is - I actually liked DStecks' content back in the day - I thought his Sonichu reviews were pretty clever and funny and made some insightful observations - most Sonichu reviews on YouTube are just Chris casuals going OMG WHOA WHAT IS THAT WHAT THE HELL DID HE JUST DRAW LUL because they don't really know about Chris himself. However his drift towards being an SJW started around the few final episodes and he just started to behave exactly the same as all the others (I didn't like those few last episodes, he went too much on a tangent about his personal life and shit and barely touched on the comics themselves, kinda intentionally rushing through them half-assed as some sort of "fuck you" to viewers upon his "revelation" that he somehow contributed to the rise of GamerGate by indirectly trolling Chris). He's made a few reviews of other media since, and hilariously enough he called out all those viewers who liked him before he became an SJW, playing a clip from an early review criticizing Chris's characterization of Rosechu as proof that "I've always been an SJW guys!". Well then... I remember those reviews well and I can bring up plenty of counterpoints, such as repeatedly calling Chris with the r-word. He's retreated from making videos though and just posts generic unremarkable SJW shit on twitter that isn't any different from anybody else's - he doesn't have the drive or charisma to be one of their leaders. One of the things that drove him to become one was also the discovery that he's bisexual, but I can also see that it's because he's from a moderately well-off family - not super rich but I could see in his old vids that he had a pretty fancy house and he would buy some hefty shit like Chris's overpriced products (not to mention the infamous $1000 for Chris) or prominently featuring collectibles like a Virtual Boy in the background before he became employed in IT. So yeah, turning into an SJW will scramble you so much you'll lose anything interesting you had going on for you which is pretty sad.

Is he a French muslim immigrant? They're the only other people who hate a silly cartoon so much.

Funny, this brings me to a very old series of tweets I remember him making - I don't have them on me but I'll try to dig them up, he compares himself to Muslim immigrants because he's descended from some Mennonites and still has elderly relatives who speak English as a second language yet nobody persecuted them, which brings him to the conclusion that being concerned about refugees is all about race (and also that his Mennonite ancestors were totally the same because their women also covered their heads).

I remember this guy from SA. He was always known for running Ask/Tell threads about being a Mennonite. Always had an avatar of Weird Al from the Amish Paradise video too.
