I think it's just his bias towards certain shows, like the WB lineup.
Remember, this is the guy who praised Sonic SatAM to hell and high water without acknowledging its flaws. Yet bashed Adventures because it was "too wacky".

I so rewatched that "Dumbasses in Distress" video of old that Doug did, and wow...It's like he tries so hard for viewers to dislike those characters.
(Plus half the info was incorrect anyways- Dick Grayson stopped being Robin decades ago, and Mary Jane hasn't been as much kidnapped as people think, but asking haters to think is too much I guess)

Yup. I don't remember much from that video but I do remember that.
Also, it never made much sense to me to put Bella Swan at number 1. I don't know much about the actual story of Twilight and what happens, but Bella doesn't get kidnapped all that often, right? And that's sort of the whole point of the video. Even back then it felt more like Doug wanting to bitch about Bella.

Oh boy.
Based on what i know from once in a while looking at his reviews, those are two OCs meant to make fun of certain fans. Hyperfangirl was a fangirl of the NC character who wanted him to be her boyfriend in some tsundere like manner and the other one was like Linkara's 90s kids with hardcore rocker attitude. That was until somewhere down the line in his reviews he decided to ship the two together.
