See, that's because the real goal is unquestioning validation from women. If a (gold star) lesbian will fuck you, you must REALLY be a real woman. It's the same thinking that leads to the popular "my gyno couldn't tell I had a surgical vagina!" line, except doctors are harder to bully online. They also really bank on actual females being socialized to be nice and validating no matter what; I think that's why rejection from cis women makes troons so fucking outraged, while cis gay dudes telling FtMs to fuck off on Grindr is fine and normal.

I had suspected that Shoe's recent shift towards taking down TERFs was at least partially to help justify Contra's continued friendship with her and this seems to confirm.

Immediately after they start talking about Blaire White and double down on the whole "you're fake and only pretend to believe what you say so that transphobes will like you" thing, because it's just so hard to believe that a trans person might just not agree with you on everything.

New vid. Watched it earlier today and points of agreement:
- There definitely are many white people that are uncomfortable confronting the reality of racism, even if this is a frequently misused talking point by the far left crowd.
- You can advocate for personal responsibility while also supporting policies that you believe will help impoverished groups and communities bridge the gap.
- The number of people in jail for BS like marijuana possession is ridiculous, and I do think that ending the war on drugs once and for all would help bring positive change to predominantly black communities and poor communities in general.

Above average overall for Contra, but being a Contrapoints video it still induced quite a few eyerolls.
- She still believes that the majority of right wingers & Anti-SJWs deny the long history of racial discrimination in the United States, which is mostly untrue. Most can acknowledge that racism is why the inequality exists in the first place, but simply disagree with the tendency of people like Contra to deny anyone they consider "marginalized" ANY sense of personal agency, making infinite excuses for any and all bad behavior if it happens to be committed by one, and more or less treating racism as a boogeyman that can be attached as the default motivation to anything they disagree with.
- Apparently believes herself to be "stepping wildly out of [her] lane" by even talking about this. Isn't the whole point of the "privilege" concept supposed to be that people with more "privilege" have a responsibility to stick up for people with less? They really can't seem to make up their minds on this one.
- She dismisses any talk of the negative effects of single parenthood, because apparently the wealth of data showing a correlation between this and poverty+crime rates doesn't exist. If the facts aren't convenient, they suddenly don't exist. The worst part of this is that right leaning people are usually genuinely trying to help by offering solutions to the single parenthood problem, and implementing social programs that could help build stable families is something that Contra would probably be in favor of if she could stop equating anything she sees as "right wing" as inherently bigoted.

I still can't figure out if Contra is intentionally disingenuous or just incredibly thick. You'd think that someone who's had so many conversations with genuinely decent people who happen to disagree with her would be able to develop a better understanding of what her opponents ACTUALLY believe, but she's still either unable or unwilling to step outside her narrow worldview and realize that the world will never be as one-dimensional as she wants it to be.

Anyhoo... I almost didn't bother with this bc of the way your mod keeps cramming everything I write into one post that most people will just skim over bc of the tl;dr factor. But here's Natalie's original Baltimore vid. I think it's her best solo work so far.

I found the visuals better without the goofy filter and lolita shades. The pink bedroom light works for some of her topics (the fluff feminism and kinkster topics) but not this one. I liked her in bright light, moving around, for a hard hitting deconstruction like this one. She also draws out the presentation of the lead paint and blockbusting maps in the first vid. There's just a little more time for the audience to put it all together and draw their own conclusions that way. It feels less like a grandstanding white lady wringing her hands over somebody else's problem for views.

I don't get why she made the exact same vid with different lighting and her girlie voice sucking on beer tbh. I thought she was going to add something, flesh it out, throw some Foucauldian archaeology in there. All she did was change the lighting and cross more lines with her humour.

Multiple posts in a row from the same person are wasteful. You should quote each person (or some subset of their post) and make it all in one post.

You can select text in someone's post and click "+ Quote", or do the same thing at the bottom of the post to quote the whole thing, and then hit "Insert Quotes..." when composing.

This video's pretty good, particularly the first parts.

It gets kind of weak near the end. Particularly when she brings up Trump and youtube celebrities, tries to chastise white people for not caring strongly enough, complains how the Freddie Gray case was handled (it was a difficult case to prosecute). It just turned into an aimless mishmash.

But the natty boh was a nice touch.

Edit: Lol, though I like the part where she says that kids eat paint chips as a regular thing. I always thought only mongs did that.

So, apparently it's no longer enough simply to avoid misgendering. Now, even avoiding pronouns altogether in order to be accommodating is also unacceptable:

Background: a youtuber made a response video to Contra politely asking her to do a stream with him about current issues, and avoided using pronouns because he was unaware of what Contra identifies as (fair, since Contra still has videos up in which she identified as a cross-dresser, and if she's not going to put annotations up to correct this she can't really be surprised that some people don't know that she now identifies as trans).

However, even this is no longer enough, and Theryn Meyer quickly berated him for the crime of not using Contra's pronouns... despite the fact that SJ advocates have been encouraging people to not assume people's gender for years now and he was actually following that rule. Contra herself joined in later.

Makes Contra's video denying the left's opposition to free speech/thought even more disingenuous in hindsight. If even people who try to be accommodating and avoid using pronouns as to not offend are now free to attack, then I can't see how they even have room to deny the accusation of thought policing anymore.
