Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

While the art isn't exactly an eye-searing clusterfuck, she's got a knack for drawing Popeye arms.

I can kind of understand the whole "waifu" and shipping mentality (depending on its ironic or unironic usage), but virtue signaling does not make good fan art.

EDIT: At least Camilla didn't get the worst of the treatment.

out of all the redesigns camilla got, this has to be my favorite. it's practical but she looks female. though i would modify the chest plate a bit.

What? They really expect me to look at that character design and think “Oh yeah, totally gender neutral!”? I would almost think they switched the genders around by mistake, but the male version doesn’t even look androgynous enough to pull it off either. There’s a reason why we have archetypes in character design, it’s to avoid things like this! I’ve never been so confused before, and this isn’t exactly my first rodeo when it comes to SJW nonsense.
Well most of the "nb" people I know of look like average teenage girls, so this is the inverse of that?
Honestly most people who support this stuff always whine "anyone can be non binary no matter what they look like!" so I wasn't surprised.

Here's another "how to colour black skin" tutorial I saw on my dash

The original post: http://peachdeluxe.tumblr.com/post/171230593878/i-get-asked-a-lot-for-tips-with-coloring-black
I have to agree with Lion that this one isn't as bad or as condescending as some of the other ones I've seen, and it does touch on a few common pitfalls you see with Tumblr artists.

But it still has the same problem I had when it comes to addressing lighting in that it pretty much skips over the fact that skin tones change depending on environment, and that everyone - regardless of skin color - will appear lighter or darker depending on the brightness/color/position of a light source and the surrounding background color. It seems to stem from the sense of hyper-paranoia where you're being racist if you don't color pick your skin tones from the darkest shadow on any given character as the base color, and the end result is often that black characters look over-saturated compared to everything else around them, even when the lighting is applied more naturalistically to the environment and other, paler characters.

Hell, the example given in this tutorial looks less like a light source and more like splotchy face paint. Apparently including areas where the light source is brightest, gradation of shadows, and rim lighting is just too close to "whitewashing" if you go by this tutorial.

The art is actually quite good, there really is things to like about it.
I don't know what to think of their (nsfw) comic:
OCs where the character's race are a class they can't be in game, like here the OC used to be a death knight, are huge mary sues. Also lol at the page in the bathroom where it just looks like irl modern bathroom with a bottle of body wash and poof.

WoW isn't safe from Tumblr people either.

>Previous occupation was something called a "Death Knight"
>Likes listed are all frivolous nicey nice things like fashion and warm blankets

I don't pretend to know anything about WoW, but unless this is supposed to be service of some sort of comedic or plot-important contrast this seems like a glaring disconnect going on here.

I like the second tutorial! It isn’t written in a condescending way and the artist refers to actual images of black people in it, its pretty surface level, and ovbiously its hard to cover all bases in a mini comic on tumblr, but overall the information is conveyed in a pretty simple manner with lots of examples and smaller things that beginners may overlook such as pigment in palms and how the darker the skin is the more likely it is to “bounce” surrounding colors off of. There is no saying you “can’t” do anything, (except maybe the blackface esque lips and the ashy skin but even then it’s written more like a suggestion) and the advice itself is pretty useful!

Sorry for tangent I just think that’s pretty much exactly what I would like from a short tumblr tutorial, brief and to the point, addressing a pretty specific issue with visual examples and not overly condescending or mean spirited

Death knights are undead warriors who are all about being in battle and are supposed to be kind of emotionless. They aren't the ones to be snuggling up in blanket sipping hot chocolate. A death knight also wouldn't stop being a death knight, either. They are bound by duty.

"I give black people blush as a stylistic choice lol"

"But you can't"
i don't think that's what they were trying to say.
I think it was more along the lines of " this isn't something that realistically happens, but i like to do it anyways and here's my tips on how to do it."
i actually like this tutorial a lot. i mean, she's pretty nice about it and it could be helpful to some people

The funny thing is like @Dr. Studman M.D. said, the race/class they’ve chosen for their OC cannot be done in the game and literally cannot happen lorewise either. Nightborne are High Elves that shielded their city away for 10,000 years. Death Knights followed or were controlled by the Lich King who came into power 20-30 years ago and he was defeated before the Nightborne even knew what was going on outside their bubble, let alone returned to the outside world.
Either this person doesn’t know the lore or outright refuses to follow it in order to have their super special character.

lol how can you expect not to be "misgendered" when you look like that? he looks more masculine than the male version:

The male version not being very masculine can be explained by the fact that he looks like a ripoff of the MCU version of T'challa. Without the caption I would have thought that was decent Black Panther fanart.

Another day, another ass licker.

the fe fandom can be so disgusting and harmful and the way nat has been treated is proof of that. i wanted to show @hakyonaIiIi some support so here's some friendly reminders with charlotte and aqua.
This is hilarious considering that Charlotte does this in canon.

“Not a gold digger” d-did this person play the game AT ALL?! Charlotte totally begins trying the gold digger scheme and ends up seeing that it’s not as easy and unfallible as it seems. Plus she had personal reasons for it, rooted in her backstory and all. It’s not as simple as this bitch thinks it is.

And putting Charlotte in conservative and covered-up clothes while ALSO making her fat when she’s quite muscle-bound in canon doesn’t bring up “ugh she looks like a whore, lemme ‘purify’ her and make her look like a true good woman so I won't get TRIGGERED by her sex appeal” slutshamey implications, not at all....

LOL at the Azura one too. Stupid-looking, cross-eyed, chunky, darker without actual reason (and conveniently ‘forgetting’ the CANON darkskinned chick, Rinkah), a goddamn mouth piece for the OP’s bull... Pft.

Man, it looks like we hit a total goldmine of SJW art by showcasing the original nitwit and her brown-nosers. What a freaking ride! :story:

It think it's pretty clear that their OC is a rerolled blood elf. This OC is pretty typical of blood elf roleplayers. I can't tell you how many MRP profiles I've seen of smol soft bois that were actually female blood elf priest. Why are they always priest? If you are hanging out on Moonguard be wary of a female priest they want to ERP. They will have a dick too if it's a draenei.
