Anyone else been watching this? It's apparently a bit of a cultural phenomenon.

I'm only half way through at the mo but it is rather intriguing.

It's about two misfits who latch onto each other. The girl, Alyssa wants to escape from her negligent mum and her abusive step-dad, while the lad, James thinks he's a psychopath and wants to murder Alyssa. It is rather strange, but the acting, visuals and soundtrack are all pretty top notch.

It's good and cute.

Haven't seen the show and from what I've heard it's pretty good but I'm not liking this new trend of people obsessing/gushing over psychopaths.

People who didn't really "get" the show think it's about how kewl edgy psychopaths are, but the subtext of the show (and original comic) is basically how uncool it is think being a psychopath is cool.

Yeah the subtext is basically James never really got over a childhood trauma and Alyssa is too frightened to let anyone get too close to her as far as I can tell.

I can't get into Stranger Things. So if this show is better, I'll definitely check it out. I need a new show to get into, tbh. Most shows aren't appealing enough lately.

Just give it a go. If you're not into it by the end of episode 3, you never will be.

My eyes drift away from it every time Netflix pimps it to my face, the obvious key to this show's success is that it's pretentious hipster shit oozing with Q u I r K e Y feigned sincerity in the form of bland awkwardness & sterile distance with clueless and out of touch "coming of age" story telling posing as cultured and insightful.

Everybody criticizes George Lucas for this kind of writing but anytime it happens without George at the helm, it's acclaimed as genius and for a good example, look no further than that unwatchable shit "Youth in Revolt".

It's literally a story of a runaway teenager who self diagnosed himself with APD. Tumblr the show.

EDIT: I just checked out the first episode and it met every one of my low expectations where the teenagers act overtly precocious and clinically emotionless while the adults act like teenagers, and the British accent is just the cherry on top. It's so fucking surreal and unrealistic the way they think and talk. Why the fuck is it a writing trend now to make teenagers act like fucking aliens? Anyone who says they relate to these non-humans has to be either lying to feel special or a computer. Even the emotional outbursts are too formal to be real.
