To be honest, Phil can't compete head to head with other streamers. He has no charisma BUT if he can embrace the spectacle and go all Phil Burnell on the game he could draw a good crowd. Looking at those clips from the stream it's obvious that he knows that he isn't entertaining AT ALL on his own. He's Will Ferrel, he needs something else to MAKE him funny otherwise it's just weird watching a grown man act the way he does. His gimmick is being shit at games and getting pissed off because he thinks it's the game's fault. Go with that lol.

Someone needs to get it through his head that it doesn't matter how many "milli bits, mega bytes, mega fucks or whatever" his internet is, he'll never be able to go faster than the server on the other end will let him go. He can get the same thing done at a fifth of what he's paying now.

Remember he's been paying for that super premium Internet since he moved in to that shithole, and only recently found out from a Comcast tech that his actual hookup to the network was complete shit and wasn't giving him remotely near what he was paying for. In other words, he never even tested it, while continually bitching about every single game he played and its "netcode" and other mumbo jumbo, when it was just his own shitty connection, which he should have tested the moment he got it, and immediately started complaining until Comcast fixed it.

They usually charge you if they have to fuck with the last 20 yards from the pole (or whatever) to your house. So basically if it's before the pole, it's their issue and they fix it for free, but if it's after, they often charge you, especially if you or the previous owner did dumb shit that led to the situation (they will often waive it if you bitch and kick up a fuss). But if DSP was paying premium prices and getting unreliable residential-tier service for literally years, that's amazing stupidity. That's Phil's business acumen at work.

He threw away thousands of dollars, didn't get what he was paying for, and then blamed every game he played for it.

Who the fuck doesn't test whether they're getting their advertised bandwidth even for residential service? Apparently, Phil doesn't even though his "business" depends on it.

A major flaw with DSP is his greed. He can never just accept a means of getting money, he has to exploit it somehow. Rather than take the safe route of just allowing that stream of money to come in, he constantly attempts to double or triple dip in that means and he always fails, his undoings are always his attempts to get MORE money rather than accepting the current amount of money he has, which in the end always leaves him with less money.

Google adsense, tells people to click all the ads, gets kicked off of it.
The Amazon referral partnership where he could place the link to the game in the description of his videos and if they bought it through the referral link he got a cut of the money, he ends up putting the link on all sorts of videos, DSP Tries Its, Week in Previews, and so of course they kick him off the program.
Lootcrate, he accepts various rival Lootcrate type of deals and does videos promoting their stuff, Lootcrate kick him off and stop giving him free crates.
Machinima, his money is reduced slightly during the adpocalypse. He desperately and frantically tries to contact them, they say they'll fix it but he has to put up with it for a few days, he freaks out and constantly bugs them about it, leads to an insulting match, they kick him out of their partnership, oh wait sorry they "mutually parted ways" and now he's with Curse in an unmanaged partnership and now makes way less money to the point he can't play Nintendo games at all without all the money being ate up.
Twitch donations - Made shoutouts through bits cost less than shoutouts through Patreon, Patreon plummets because of it. Decides to increase the bit donation needed for a shoutout, gets less bits.
Sets up constant revenue streams: Twitch, Patreon, Merch etc. - So many ways of donating and so little money that people have that one side gets neglected, when he tries to improve Patreon perks, Twitch donations die, when he tries to improve Twitch features, Patreon dies, yet he obviously wants two constant revenue streams from both.
Fundraising - Was a success the first time, tries it a second time, less success, third time, little success. Fans start to catch on that he might not be using the money for taxes as he says.

You'd think he'd learn to stop exploiting systems for more money and just accept the systems in place.

I doubt his internet connection is even that bad. I've played games on a lot worse and done relatively fine. He's just bad and always uses anything but himself as an excuse.

I thought the stuff about him being near blind was an exaggeration but then I watched some of the TIHYDP (on double speed mind you). I always wondered how the fuck these things could be 3 hours long but its just Phil, he has no logic, and he really has extremely poor eyesight.

I never watched them too long because he doesn't play games that I typically play, so I watched the borderlands one because I was at least slightly familiar with it.

Another underrated TIHYDP that doesn't get mentioned that often:

Not only can he not see stuff that is plain as day, but he also can't even understand basic game instructions but also can't even understand the games interface and doesn't "pick up" items because he thinks he is buying them (when its actually showing you what the item is worth).

This actually brings to mind something that was said a few months ago. How Phil's financial supporters are doing him more harm than good. The whales who were supporting Phil and making sure he reaches that Patreon goal and that Sub goal kind of fucked him over. Not by giving him money, but by making him believe that he had the type of support needed to do that type of thing on a consistent basis. They gift subs to people and Phil thinks his channel is growing. They pump up Patreon numbers and Phil thinks it'll last. They send him tips to the tune of hundreds of dollars, and Phil thinks there is a large group of people who want to support him financially. They are setting him up for failure by not allowing him to grow his fanbase naturally. Phil doesn't know what that grind is like and as a full time streamer, you need to understand that it's going to be slow. Maybe if he was allowed actually see how his decisions and the way he treats his viewers effects his pockets he would make better decisions.

Ha!! I was just watching Tevin's stream for the last hour or so and Swagginz was in THERE for the whole time I was! Hmmm.... Even gave Tevin some bits.

I think the biggest annoyance ive noticed with his gameplay is him saying "I didn't know that". He says it in fucking tutorials even. "Hey you can long jump!" I DIDN'T KNOW THAT... like hes immediately defensive over his gameplay.

and of course the beginners trap bullshit. the sunshine jump off a fenced cliff one was mindboggling.

I've confused by this too. Apparently he had his first channel for 2 years, and his second channel for 8. I think depending on the circumstances he adjusts it base on how long in general he's been streaming etc. What I understand, anyway.

I think he sees twitch as people screaming pewdiepie style, and girls that only get views cause their tits. I don't think he realises the #1 aspect of being successful is just being fucking interesting. Even if a game is bad just be fucking funny? Nobody watches Sonic 06 content because they are invested in the story.. He got popular by default because if you wanted to watch a game instead of playing one (which ive done countless times) he was usually it back in the day. You had no choice almost, and now hes stuck in that mindset and the past.
