Don't ruin Vegeta for us.
In which Bob misses the point of Vegeta...
Ironically, Bob is too clueless (as usual) to realize that Vegeta is the exact kind of character that embodies his hatred of “white mediocrity”. Vegeta’s whole deal for 90% of Z (and even some of Super) is that he seeks to surpass Goku because he believe that he has the simple right to be, being from among the highest ranking Saiyans. The idea of a “low-class warrior” surpassing him in any respect shatters his world-view so hard that it fuels his transformation into Super Saiyan and caused him to forsake his family to gain the power he believes will allow to surpass Goku.

Vegeta is an anti-hero, plain and simple. He doesn’t fight the bad guys because he’s trying to save the world, he fights the bad guys to see if he’s making progress in surpassing Goku and to show off. For most of Z there’s no “he’s a bad guy, but you see why” he’s near-sociopathic dickwad who’s development doesn’t solidify until he gives his life to try and destroy Majin Buu, which other characters point out as being the first selfless act of his life.

The part that Bob may “relate” to Vegeta on is that he’s a severe Social Darwinist. Vegeta is shown to be more than willing to kill members of his nearly extinct race if he believes that they bring shame to his race. He believes Raditz deserved to die for being weak, and personally kills Nappa after he’s been crippled and can’t fight. Bob and Old School Vegeta share a distinct hatred for “useless and obsolete” members of their race.

You know what this makes me realize? Bob is like Dukat from star trek ds9. Obsessed with superiority ...
Never realizes how much he's hated, and thinks the dominion is a good thing.

The only difference being that Dukat got laid with frequency that would embarrass Bill Clinton.

wtf I love Levi Sanders now.

You guys got Vegeta all wrong. Listen to me a wise 40 year old film critic on how prince Vegeta captures the frustrations against the system like my fellow young people just like Killmonger in the MCU. He's angry because he fights against oppression. It's almost as revolutionary as Goerge Lucas inventing the "bad boy" archetype for the Star Wars prequels. Shit Bob has actually said before.

I WANT TO STRANGLE THAT DONALD DRUMPF.

Two things:

- Bob referred to DBZ as “DVD”. That’s amazing.

-I’m somewhat disappointed to find Chris is a megacuck too. There’s no hope for the Chipman name.

To be fair. Chris has to remain on reality with his daughter. So there's a balance. However imagine if this wasn't the case.

Now that we now know Chris is just as much a moron as Bob is, that begs the question: what the hell are their parents like? More importantly, what the hell do their parents think of them?

"Who is James Dean?" - "Movie"Bob "Professional" "Film" "Critic"

how in FUCK does anyone who is movie savvy NOT know who james dean is? I can understand your average movie goer not knowing, since he's been dead for more than 60 years, but he is one of the better actors for coming of age movies back then.

I bet you money that he doesn't know who Steve McQueen is either. (Main character in The Great Escape, for those who don't know.). Hell, he probably doesn't even know David Carradine beyond Kill Bill (For martial arts enthusiasts, there was a TV series simply known as Kung Fu, about a wandering Shaolin Monk. It's really great, I'd highly recommend it)

I dunno, is he really saying Lucas invented the bad boy image? Edward Cullen is sort of a bitchier, less assured version of the traditional bad boy, isn't he? Maybe he's just saying that the more emotional, tantrum-y sort of bad boy was presaged by Lucas? I find it absurd to think even that was invented in the prequels, though -- Hollywood's been softening up bad boys to make them more palatable for decades. But it's hard to parse exactly what his point is.

Clear writing, thy name is Bob Chipman.

I got a feeling the reason Bob hates the middle class is because he used to be one and had a horrible experience growing up. Though rather than rising above those conditions, Bob chooses to be lazy and throw a fit on Twitter like a baby.

At least the working class he shits on produce better products than Bob will ever make on YouTube sperging about Mario and Marvel.
