Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

Not the worst, just your typically make the Japanese character 's skin darker.

And the other guy's nose though...

Something I’ve noticed about some of the fan art on this thread.
I wouldn’t mind if this was an OC. I mean, I don’t really have a problem with the art. I mean, the color of the background kinda blends in with the color of the hair, but overall the peice isn’t THAT BAD and the character design is passable. The pose and clothes have a lot of character.
But the fact that it’s fan art of that specific character makes the art a lot less appealing to me
EDIT: Looking back at the image, I hate the fact that she’s wearing jogging pants under her skirt. Also, making the skirt shorter would probably fit better with the personality they seem to be trying to portray.

It is one of those moment, you could see oc cosplaying. It going to be my point of view for now every time I see a character that doesn't look like the character or racebending. I'm going to assume an cosplay.

My exact thoughts. Some art here isn't bad/horrible/ugly but the combination of all wrong choices and say "this is my take on X existing character" is just.... cringy. Wouldve been interesting as OC.
artist also went on a BABD spree and closed off Trish's skirt, in opposite to the original art, because ~it shows the legs~. If you're just giving a female character from an action-packed shounen a skirt below the knees with no liberties to spread her legs to RUN, why don't you just leave her with leggings instead?

That's kind of the thing though: a lot of the elements design-wise that are often okay aren't actually of the artist's own creation, but from aping something made by someone who actually knows what they're doing. Everything they do add either clashes with the rest of the design or is just flat out bad.

It makes me wonder if, deep down, these people want to make their own OCs, but since they don't actually have the talent to do one from scratch they resort to bastardizing something else and calling it representation.
